Again I can't look beyond Germany. We need to beat them first and I need to see that to believe that.

I'd thought the most logical people would be viewing it like that. Run before you walk etc etc.

Meh.

Never expected to win the Euros, but this is a sick way of going out. The match was equal until the red card and then de Boer had no answer whatsoever.

Czechs played it home without effort, WP to them.

This was dreadful from the Netherlands. Such a poor performance, and they looked like having not a plan at all. And I really don't get why de Boer was appointed as coach - he's career has been awful since he left Ajax.

Nobody understands. So, keeping up with tradition the Dutch FA will probably come out with a statement that FdB did a great job scoring 9 points in the group stage and they have all the faith in the world in moving forwards with him towards a successful Qatar 2022 campaign.

The Dutch have three world class players: Van Dijk (out), De Ligt (sent off) and De Vrij (only survivor). That's three center backs mind you.

When you expect the likes of Depay and Wijnaldum to carry the weight of the team and your best performer is Dumfries, you cannot go far. Especially with De Boer in charge.

Gone are the times of having to pick from Robben, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Van Persie, Huntelaar, Van Nistelrooy, Makaay or Bergkamp, Kluivert, Seedorf, Davids, Hasselbaink, Cocu, Overmars etc. The Czechs were on par in terms of talent and after the red there was nothing to stop them.

How can people say the red card didn't change things

Dumfries was running riot on the Czech wing, and if not for Malen's finishing, Dutch were clearly in front based on play before the red

van Aanholt was terrible though, as was how 2nd gear Memphis was

Memphis, was probably on holiday mode as his future is sorted now...

If Malen scores then De Ligt doesn't get sent off. Simple.

That goes against the 'Dutch were rubbish'-narrative. Scoreboard journalism rules supreme.

How dare you not mention miracle boy de Jong!

Just look how many dribbles he made this game, only to then make the safest possible back/side pass and thus accomplish nothing at all, but man, the dribbles!

Crap, you're right, I always forget he exists even if I rate him high :D

Okay, there's a DM as well :p

Sure, but the same could be said of just about anything that happened before that. De Ligt got himself sent off, not Malen.

Was pretty stupid of de Ligt

He thought this was like league refereeing where a simple touch makes you believe you got fouled

Reckon that Dutch flight will be leaving without de Boer :D

Nah, he will be in the bus the first one and sit there for a while thinking over his mistakes (Dj will understand).

The red card did not decide the game. Malen did.

What??? Game was more than decent. Really loved the vibe from the stadium as well, been a while.

No, man. First half the game was basically locked for both teams. Second half same thing until the 60th minute or so. Then the Dutchies crumbled like nothing. Czechs had some good changes and scored. The end. Nearly felt asleep, haha. If Ligt didn't get a red card it would probably be penalties.

Classic Holland again :D. De Ligt made a crucial error and Malen missed a total sitter. Also wonder if they underestimated Czech Republic here. Dutch media were already speaking about the road to the final being more or less open .  Credits to the Czechs btw, they played a good match and won fully deserved :applause:.

BTW - has Promes been cleared of that stabbing incident?

No, which makes it ridiculous he is called up in the first place.

So unlike the other countries who think they are in with a chance. This thread alone ffs :D

Innocent until proven guilty :herman: Who's to say that the victim isn't trying to milk it? Why only go to the police three months later? Extortion attempt failed? Nothing is clear about that case yet.
What is ridiculous about his call up is that he doesn't add anything to the squad. Not based on today, mind, because he was subbed on after the red card.
