Yeah, terrible rule if that's an actual rule.

Edit: I mean, apparently, if striker is offside and defender intercepts the ball, striker is not allowed to tackle him? But this is allowed to stand?

Now this is just ridiculous.

How can that goal stand?

Lukaku is in huge offside when the ball is crossed, doesn't matter the defender deflected it. He wouldn't have touched it if he knew Lukaku is offside.

If the defender makes a deliberate attempt to clear it s not offside

It's not deemed a deflection but a deliberate effort to clear the ball. In the latter case, the initial offside situation doesn't count.

I understand that, but the whole premise is stupid if you ask me.

The ball is crossed towards Lukaku and he is offside. Defender would never go for it if he knew Lukaku is offside.

The mistake shouldn't even be possible to happen.

I agree, but has been in the rulebook for a couple of years now.

Can't believe I'm actually agreeing. But they do need to change the rule. The defender makes a play because Lukaku is in an offside position. Striker shouldn't benefit from being offside like that.

It's like that Lovren-Kane incident at Anfield a few years ago

Matterface has just pointed out that Kazu Miura is still going strong at 54.

Yuri Zhirkov is 'only' 37, so with any luck, we could see him playing for Russia at the 2038 World Cup.

What happened to Castagne? I was watching the Denmark game.

Nasty clash of the heads so needed to be subbed. Left eye looked like he had just been part of a 10 round boxing match.

Not surprise Yuri Zhirkov is 38. I actually thought he was born in the 70s and was very old when he played for Chelsea all that time ago.

Did Matteface say Sergei Ignashvish is still ther centre-half he must be well in his 40s by now :D
