22.3.0 UPDATE 26/02 - FINAL UPDATE

 

Are you a football history nut? Do you have an attention to detail?

Do you ever look at the Competition history of Sparta Prague and think .. wow, they never won anything prior to 1994? That can't be right ..

Are you a big saddo like me?

Then this may be the update for you .. I've added a lot of old extinct leagues (some friendlies, some non-official, some amateur, non-professional etc.) and cups for many many nations, and added History, to fill out club info a bit more .. and scratch that football historian itch I had.

This was something I made for me mainly during lockdown .. for .. 'fun' .. but I thought I'd share it with you - give something back to the SI forum

(this goes into documents/sports interactive/football manager 2022/graphics)

(the base ID for the trophies on 22.1.0 is the 'Československý 1. Fotbalová Liga' on ID 2000142115 - if you have additional data files running that introduce competitions it may change the ID in-game, and you may need to use FMRTE to find it's new ID and then amend all the Config lines appropriately - for example, if it shows in your game as 2000142116 instead of 2000142115 , you'd amend each Config line ID number by +1 - I hope this makes sense)

Note: As of June 2018, UEFA and LPF regard FC FCSB as the continuation of historic FC Steaua București and attribute all honours since 1947 to this entity. However in-game, the history is attributed to the new phoenix Army club. I have reverted this back to FCSB for personal use.

- Re-allocating Steaua achievements to FCSB (Note: As of June 2018, UEFA and LPF regard FC FCSB as the continuation of historic FC Steaua București and attribute all honours since 1947 to this entity. However in-game, the history is attributed to the new phoenix Army club. I have reverted this back to FCSB for personal use.)

- Re-allocating CSKA Sofia history to the correct CSKA Sofia (don't know why it was wrong in the Editor ...)

- Consolidating CONCACAF Champions League history for the defunct associated pre-modern format competition, into the in-game competition

- Re-named the old Yugoslav competitions

- Adding pre-professional era competition history for Greece, various South American nations, and more ..

interesting, i've also done this to portuguese competitions last year within my lower leagues update, this year time wasn't so much time for this.

 

Did you also did league positions with goals, wins, draws, losses?

Hey Killer,

No, just 1st place, 2nd, 3rd (where applicable) - didn't go too in depth as there was a lot to do, I just wanted to have the basic Competition history. It would have taken me forever otherwise. It took long enough as is.

Maybe I'll revisit that sometime, using stats I can find from RSSSF where they exist.

- Re-aligning Czechoslovakian achievements to the Czech Republic (which is seen as the natural successor), given that the in-game hardcoding does not attribute Czechoslovakian achievements to them, unlike how it does with USSR, West Germany, and Yugoslavia

Ok, so I've gone a bit wild with the next update, so it will be separate downloadable file in case people don't like it

I've totally separated a lot of competitions where there was a league abolition, merger, disbandment, major rebrand or upheaval, for example, Premier League history now being a separate entity from old First Division - or the Europa League having it's own identity from the UEFA Cup - European Cup separate from the UEFA Champions League  .. so that it no longer says, for example, that Red Star Belgrade 'won the UEFA Champions League' .. now it shows them as winning the European Cup. Spurs no longer have any 'Premier League wins', and so on.

Just to clarify, this doesn't affect competitions where the format stayed the same but it merely changed sponsorship names. That'd be silly.

A bit anal I know, but I like it. If you don't, then download the main file in post #1, not this one

You certainly can, but you may want to use this version of ITCH that I use - so that the Czech history isn't duplicated where I made amendments to carry over Czechoslovakian history

Bless you mate, I know how you feel, when codeing starts to blur or you get side tracked with something else for a split second then that leads to something else as so on and so on.

As well as the Default Trophy file I use for my personal games. Not as .. cartoonish.

Just so you know, the the base ID for the trophies on 21.4.0 is the 'Československý 1. Fotbalová Liga' on ID 2000080812 - so if you find that in-game via FMRTE, you can amend the Config file where necessary (for example, if it's showing as 2000080813 instead of 2000080812, you'd amend all line IDs in the Config file by plus +1 - I hope this makes sense).

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE POST

 

Just thought I'd share how a final version example of how United and Porto histories looks (or at least part of it), for an overview of how the cup/league history separation works - 

(FYI, the European Cup trophy image has an alternate in the trophy pack, which matches the Champions League - I just fancied using the 1950s style one to differentiate, a personal taste choice)

 

 

At the end of the day, I did this because if, say, Red Star Belgrade won the Champions League this year - the commentators wouldn't say 'they've now won two UEFA Champions League titles', they'd say 'they also won the old European Cup'

And I wanted to reflect that in-game

And I'm a nerd

Further update

 

- Made changes to the Brazilian and Argentine leagues to reflect the changes they had throughout the years

- Brazilian league went through many changes before being the Brasileirao Seria A we know today as of 2003 (research undertaken from the Portuguese Wikipedia) - iterations included the Taça Brasil (1959-1968), Torneio Pedrosa (1967-1970), Campeonato Nacional (1971-1974), Copa Brasil (1975-1986), Taça de Ouro (1980-1985), Copa União (1987-1988), Campeonato Brasileiro (1989-2002), and Copa João Havelange (2000)

- Argentine league is the Liga Professional as of 2021, after a brief ownership by a non AFA board - iterations prior to that included the Superliga Profesional (2017-2020), Primera División (1986 - 2017) which included the Open and Close seasons and intermediate leagues based on European windows, the league split between the Campeonato Nacional (1968-1986) and Campeonato Metropolitano (1967-1985),  Primera División (1932-1967), and the Primera División Amateur (1913-1930)

Teeny tiny update - 

- Added dates to Competition names to further aid the differentiation

(though you will need to manually amend/remove any associated Competition Inc file lines for already existing in-game competitions, such as the Inter-toto Cup or Cup Winners' Cup, if you downloaded any kind of 'Real Name and Licencing Fix' files from Sortitoutsi or FM Scout)

I am probably being a fool, but I have downloaded them from the OP, put them in editor data but I cannot seem to get them to work. Have I put them in the wrong place? I presumed they'd appear alongside the unlocked leagues I've subscribed on Steam etc

So the Editor Data file should just go into here - My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022/Editor Data



Then of course, when you start a new Career in-game, you'll have to click the Database drop down in the top right and make sure it's selected (via Advanced Setup) - 

(for some reason it might be called Rob's History Update, rather than Rob's Competition History Revision - I don't know why and I don't know how to stop it, haha  )

Let me know if it shows but has any error messages next to it or anything!

(And also, the Trophy graphics go into My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2022/Graphics)

Found it - for some weird reason, I have two editor data folders - one of which cannot be found on the Mac any other way than getting to it through FM itself. Very random. Loaded your file into the editor and then saved it again in the hidden yet correct place and all works perfectly. Amazing work, thanks for doing this!

Update - 12/11 - 

- DDR comps had reverted back to East Germany after FM22 verification - changed to Germany so that BFC Dynamo/Hansa Rostock, etc. now have the DDR-Oberliga trophies

(clubs don't show league wins for comps that have a different aligned nation, cups are fine just not leagues - which is why the Soviet stuff didn't show for teams like Tbilisi with the default database - you either have to change the Nation of the extinct league, or remove the Nation all together)

Yes, Most Times Won will represent the changes, however amending certain records like Fewest Draws etc. needs to be amended going forward, probably my next version ... but it'll be a big undertaking

 

However, individual club info will show the default league positions - because this can only be changed by a club-by-club basis, and there are thousands of clubs, so .. that's not happening - maybe something I can explore for major clubs only

NEXT UPDATE, UPDATE  - 

- So inspired by the question from user KeegBCFC, my next magic trick was to amend Records and Competition Records so that, for example, Premier League Most League Goals in a Season will be Andy Cole with 34, not Dixie Dean with 60 (sorry mate ..), to show the post 1993 records, not pre-1993

However

 

It would seem that some of the dating is hardcoded - for example, I changed the Highest Attendance to Tottenham (because of their Wembley stint), but in the Editor there's no season date - so in-game it shows 1948

It also calculated Teddy Sheringham has being 100 years old for Oldest Player even though I amended the Date of Birth and Match Date correctly (it basically kept Stan Matthews' data!!)

 

So the comp Records will just have to stay as default, so that's a particular itch that cannot be scratched unfortunately

 

Most title wins calculates properly mind!

UPDATE 14/11 - 

 

- Fixed some irregularities with Northern Ireland competitions where the Editor had input pre-1995 History for post-1995 competitions, probably an issue with validating the FM21 database into FM22 Editor

- Amended Belgian league history to differentiate old Division 1 from new Division 1A, as well as old Division 2 history from Division 1B.

- Amended French league history to differentiate Ligue One from old Division 1 and Division Nationale - (trophies are fictional, for now - described as a 'vase' without handles, old one perm given to Lille, but historically clubs were not awarded a trophy, so .. kinda awks to find!)

- Finally found the actual old Swiss league trophies, so the trophy graphic pack is now amended also

 

All 3 files updated in post #1 (editor data, competition inc file, trophy graphics)

Hey @Rob 396 nice file! I am working also now on a French competition history fix (too many issues found in the original db). Of course i am not a guru on editor but i know how to fix and save my file.

Question is since you work on a bigger project than mine, i want to use my file along with a custom french lower league database. Is it going to work? If yes how should i do it? Select both files before new game and the fixed history will show up or should i merge them together? any thoughts?

So do you have 1 file that only has Rule changes, and 1 file that only has superficial changes (like competition History) - or is it 1 file that has both Rule changes and superficial changes?

You could always try merging them yeah, and see what happens! Just make sure to back-up your files first

Alternatively, try selecting them both at the same time - run the game, and explore/investigate to see if there are any clashes

The file i am working to make the changes is from the original database! only history changes planned, the other file is a cumstom lower league db, the latter you said is what i thought too, but i dont know if my file overwrites the history of the custom league db (as i am aware that db only opens league in the db, not history changes etch). Anyway thanks for your reply as soon as i finish this i will see what has been done!

Collaborating with others so it can be a yearly release with all the name changes etc would be fantastic.

Added some more friendly tournaments, which include but are not limited to - 

- Trofeo Birra Moretti

- Memorial Pier Cesare Baretti

- Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi

- Coppa Renato Dall'Ara (which was awarded to the TIM Cup winners between 1963 and 2021)

- Anglo-Italian League Cup Winners' Cup (for the Swindon Town fans ..)

- Trofeo TIM

- Medaglia del Re

- Coppa del 150º anniversario dell'Unità d'Italia

- Uli Hoeneß Cup

- Fuji-Cup

07/12 Update

Added some Portuguese related comps, and others, including - 

- Trofeu TAP (a 1972 comp for Portuguese teams held in Mozambique, sponsored by TAP airlines)
- Taca Iberica (a comp hosted sporadically between 1935 and 2019 between Portuguese and Spanish nations)
- Taca Ribeiro dos Reis (a Portuguese friendly comp held between 1961 and 1971)
- Taca Recompensa (a special one-off 1954 trophy given to Vitoria Setubal because they .. lost the Taca Portugal final .. strange but true)
- Copa Ciudad de Caracas (the less successful 1963-1975 follow up trophy to the largely successful and influential 1952-1957 Pequena Copa del Mundo, or Small World Cup)

Update 09/01/2022

- Red Bull Salzburg now retain the club history of Austria Salzburg in-game, as in real life

- Chile now have a shiny gold Copa America trophy to commemorate their Centenary win (whilst still showing as winners of the standard Copa America also)

- Spent a while amending the Intertoto Cup, both for the non-UEFA 1961-1967 period with outright winners, and the 1967-1994 era where Group winners were awarded a trophy and prize money (I had to add up to 14 teams per year as winners in the Editor .. good job I find this 'fun' eh)

- Added several international competitions, such as the 'Mundialito' World Cup anniversary competition in 1980

And a few more random things

Update 18/01/2022 - 

Finally sorted out the League split between 2002 and 2004 - dubbed it the 'Nationwide League' so as to differentiate it from the standard Football League - .. let's be honest, it's a tad confusing how it changed for 2 years, First became Second, Second became Third, etc. etc. - so there would have been 2x 'Football League First Divisions' etc. - head hurts

A few other random things such as ..

 

- The Toyota Cup, which was a secondary trophy sponsored by .. you guessed it, Toyota .. given in addition to the Intercontinental Cup between 1980 and 2004 - it's too sexy of a cup to leave out!

- The Toyota Libertadores salver (or shield), again, an additional cup given to teams that won the Copa Libertadores between 1998 and 2008

- Added and amended roughly 10 historic leagues and cups across Uruguay and Argentina

- Added some missing Eastern German competitions

- Added some more friendlies, such as the Makita International Tournament, and Umbro International Tournament

- Updated some existing trophies in the pack, and added some more placeholder tournament trophies
