Feedback appreciated for my custom 4-3-1-2 wide

Recommended Posts

The style of play is a hybrid of direct and high tempo play on the ball, and then pressing off it. Any tweaks or advice are appreciated

I would cut out at least half your team instructions, to begin with.

In terms of roles and duties, would be wary of using an aggressive role such as BWM as my (sole) holding midfielder.

The rest of the setup looks okay/decent as a starting point.

Alright, thank you.

I'll cut down the in possession TI'S seeing that there are quite a few, likely the focus plays.

As for the BWM, i'm not too sure on that one. I might switch to a 4-4-2 Diamond Wide and make the BWM a HB, so it'll look like:

                                                                      HB (DE)

                                     IW (AT)                                                               W (SU)

                                                                       AP (SU)

Could that work?

And thank you again for the feedback 👍

If you want to use a HB in DM, then I would rather go with an IWB on support duty behind the winger than standard FB on support. Because HB serves to allow the fullbacks/wing-backs to push higher up, which is why the role perfectly suits this kind of system (wide diamond).

Thanks. I'll test this out soon

What mentality are you playing on?

You only have two midfielders, and both of them have "roam from position" as baked-in instructions, so I would be concerned that you're giving up the whole of midfield. I would at least switch the BWD to a CM(D) or DLP(D).

If you're plan is to play direct, why do you have your playmaker in the attacking midfield layer? If he was in the central midfield layer as an AP(su), surely he could get the ball and play it upfield even faster on the counter?
