                                                                  Introduction

After being inspired by the awesome career threads that @ToMexico!! has done in Africa and @Cheez3y is doing in Saudi Arabia I have decided to do something similar in Ivory Coast and to do that I have become Didier Drogba who is the greatest Ivorian player ever in my opinion.

So the save will be managing as Didier Drogba and after getting some advice on team choices by @Jogo Bonito I decided on RC Abidjan which is the place that Didier Drogba was born as well so it's almost if it was fate.

I am doing this as a joint manager save with me also managing Ivory Coast national team at the same time.

My aim is to bring through the next generation of Ivorian superstars and continual success on club and nation basis.

This is how my team lines up for this season. I desperately need full backs by the looks of it.

Good luck with this. Your left back should probably be OK and your central defenders are decent enough for that level. Central midfield and Camara on the wing (I converted him to attacking full back at Lorient in FM20) are very good quality. Strikers are readily available.

Ok cheers for the information on here and through inbox Jogo. Much appreciated.

I wish you all the best for this.

Keep an eye on the youth intakes for the national team, mainly from France and Belgium.

They will also work for you.

Yeah I will do thank you.

Hopefully we will see a few more African saves this year, an underrated continent to have a save in and score lots of goals and play crazy formations.

Good Luck!

Yeah I am scoring lots of goals but annoyingly I am conceeding just as many. Highlight so far was a 5-4 loss that was 4-4 until the last minute of the game.

Overall I am doing well.

I will post an mid season update later.

Thank you for the feedback and kind words.

Ivory Coast Convince Yann Karmoh To Switch

image.thumb.png.be39862c5aa585f6a942ac09f1476b27.png

Granted it aint much of a coup as he was already dual nationality but he is a great player and will improve Ivory Coast national team.

Doing well with Abidjan. I am still in all competitions and currently 3rd in the league after 9 games played.

image.thumb.png.16e12aad1559e000ea0cb67f75cfcf0b.png

David Koffi is my topscorer so far with 7 goals in 11 games.

My best overall player is 17 year old Brahima Outtara who has got 7 assists, 4 goals and has the best average rating. Annoyingly I still can't convince him to sign a new contract and his contract expires in the Summer so I have offered him out and managed to negotiate a fee and also 40% profit of next transfer.

RC Abidjan Season 1 Review

I managed to finish 2nd place in my first season. ASEC Mimosas were just too strong with a 12 point gap over me at the end of the season.

I did manage to win the Coupe de la LPF though which will hopefully keep the fans happy.

This was my overall best starting 11 for the season.

Finances are not good so I will have to sell in the future if a decent offer comes in for my players.

Brahima Outtara Since He Left For Le Havre

He didn't play much but took his chances when he could with 2 goals from 5 appearances. I gave him his first Ivory Coast cap in a game against Angola.

Talking of Ivory Coast I managed to win both of my games in 2021 so far with a 1-0 win Vs Niger and a 4-1 win Vs Angola.

Very interesting choice if club and country.

Well done on a good first season.

It's a shame Bamba won't setich allegiance, but as you said, for now. The French national team have so much depth surely he will switch shortly.

Cheers mate. I might be able to convince Bamba to join Ivory Coast soon.

@ToMexico!! How do you get your table to fit in nicely like you have done on this screenshot you posted in your save in Congo so I can do it on mine to make it look nicer please?

What do you use for taking screenshots? I use Gyazo which has a tool to select/snip exactly what you want to screenshot rather than the whole page. That then opens it in your web browser then you can copy and paste it into your thread.

Hope that helps?!

Yeah I got recommended Gyazo yesterday so that is what I use but I have quite a few sections that it will only let me screenshot and not able to move across to fit everything in. It is ok I will think of a work around for it.

Cheers for the information.

I just using the snipping tool already on computers. I then just copy and paste the image. No need to use an image sharing site.

Nice updates! Great to see Isaac doing well out on loan. And Sidick of course.

Sadly it would never really be possible to hold on to your best players for long. But, there are plenty of Ivorians around (other teams might not have them under proper contract so you may sometimes be able to steal them) and plenty will be produced. Also there will be Ivorians in other countries (particularly France) who will get released from time to time too. Wilfried Eza in 2022 perhaps.

French side Nice (and consequently their Swiss affiliate) seem to be keen on lots of Ivorians in the new update including signing Brahima. And I noticed a few more that I took to to Lorient in FM20 (from RC Abidjan) have moved to Nice recently. Last night I also noticed Datro Fofana went to Molde, so it's happening a lot IRL.

For your international squad I am sure you have every Ivorian on your radar but my recent signing at Parma (Singo from Torino) and Daouda Bamba (Brann) might be worth monitoring.

Yeah I will miss Sidick but I might be able to bring him back one day.

The problem I have got is the finances are not very good at the moment so I can only offer players £100 per week where as most of the decent ones want at least £200 per week or more but over time that will get better.

I just recently got Lorient as my parent club. I had 4 options but picked them mostly cos of you having a good save with them lol. In hindsight I should of checked which 4 teams had the most Ivorians but I didn't think of that until afterwards.

On the plus side having a parent club will help with finances.

I will look at calling up Singo and Daouda Bamba. Cheers for the suggestions.

I am really enjoying this save and this could turn out to be the best save I have ever had on FM when it ends. I might just keep doing this save until FM2022 comes out.

Nice one buddy, glad you are enjoying. £100 per week is a massive salary for people in lots of Africa, but not so helpful for FM for footballers! In hindsight a link with a French club is probably not too helpful as you might not get them back on loan - but the money should help. Glad you chose Lorient anyway, most of your players were there in FM20

Yeah if I sell them to Lorient I will hopefully get 40% of any future fee like I have insisted on a few of my players so far including Brahima Outtara.

I am just hoping if I keep doing this that one of them will get sold for a big fee and it will improve the finances similar to ToMexico's saves in Cameroon and now DR Congo.

Ah good, 40% of any future fee will be very useful!

Yeah that is the plan for every decent player sold moving forward. Its the only way I will make money is selling players.

I like a challenge and I always try treat every club I manage like a business and try to have good finances.

I wish I didn't have to work so I could play FM all day lol.

I got a week off next week so I will be posting more and more in here as I go along.

Another player sold to help the finances with a nice 40% profit of any future fee.

The bank balance looks a lot nicer now with £100k in the bank.

a5db04c5ec03ab1f30ec55e48065c593.jpg

I was tempted to cheat a bit and put 1 International cap clause in any possible players I sell and then give them a cap to make extra money but I can't do that as that is too much like cheating for my liking

The 40% profit clauses are building up slowly with 4 players I have sold I will get 40% of their next transfer fee. Lets hope one of these gets a decent transfer.

79f25ed80181c5ba87a08ca7499d105e.jpg

3 players sold for a total of £150k which will help keep us out of the red.

Nice going. You're unlucky with Singo as he has been massively boosted in the winter update, but you and I both have him on his original attribute ratings. That said, I wouldn't have been able to sign him for £400k on the latest version of the game.

Yeah I am just happy to be able to play him for Ivory Coast.

Jonathan Bamba continues to reject my international advances.

Ivory Coast National Team Update

@Jogo Bonito Bamba was unimpressive in his debut Vs Mozembique but he made up for it by scoring the 4th goal in the Cameroon game.
