Using Attribute Analysis to Bring Success to Minor UEFA Nations - Albania (Chapter Six)

Nice idea of bringing "permanent" results to minor nations, I love playing with them. I'm kinda curious to see where you can reach! Never thought about the spreadsheet side of it though, but I'm willing to apply it to my San Marino challenge save. Would you help me with the formula? Using Messi as an example in his best role, he has 151 as the sum of key and 129 of preferrables in a total of 15 attributes.

((151+(0,66*(129))) / 15 * 5) / x * 100

Which value would you use for X?

Good luck in Luxembourg, hope you end up in San Marino someday :)

Thanks for following!

So what I used for X is the value the player would be if all the attributes required for the role were 17. Based on my experimentation no one really got close to that total and so I used that as the benchmark as the “perfect” player. For example, the current Ballon D’or player in my save is rated a 93 at striker as an advanced forward. I’ve also kinda based those perceptions on FIFA ratings, which would put that guy among one of the best in the game, especially at 32. Hope this makes sense!

And I will definitely end up in San Marino at some point :D

Only really started reading through this yesterday, but if I said that I'd read through it all, I still don't think it would emphasise how much I enjoy this career!  Luxembourg seems a tough nut to crack right now, but hopefully you'll find the goalscoring form of last month!  KUTGW!

Edit: You did find the form, nice one!

Thanks! I’m trying to give myself certain goals to achieve over different time periods. By the 5th season, I want to establish my philosophy both tactically and recruitment-wise. Once that’s sorted I want to win the league by the 10th season and go from there. It worked perfectly at Wexford, and we may reach it earlier at Luxembourg, but time will tell.

I also think once I win the league in a country I'll force the national team manager out and take the job to try and see how I go internationally.

We had another near perfect month and we STILL can't close the gap on the top 2. At least the gap is a little larger below us.

With one game to go, we have a shot at winning the league. It relies on Progres losing (which probably won't happen) and us winning. I'm not too fussed if we finish 2nd. Next year we'll be even better.

Unbelievable. We could've won the league, that's so unlucky! But there's always next season. We're only going to get stronger. Winning the cup is a consolation at least.

The addition of the foreigners from neighbouring countries were the main reason for our success this season, but it was still academy product Jamal Mensah who topped the ratings chart this season.

Preseason 2043

A pretty good preseason, and I'm really happy with our performance against Charleroi. To concede only 5 goals over two legs against one of the best teams in Belgium is a very positive sign that we're heading in the right direction.

Transfers (Out)

I didn't make any transfers this season, because I'm maintaining a fine balance complying with the squad rules. We're only allowed 9 foreigners, which is easy enough, but we also need at least 9 players who have spent at least 3 years in Luxembourg. So this and next season we're a bit restricted, but hopefully the season after we should be able to bring players in again, given that there weren't any decent players from Luxembourg that we could find.

Our predicted position rises, but there's no reason why we can't win the title this season, or come second at the very least.

Our defence continues to be fantastic, and that away draw against Progres was much needed. They made the Europa Conference League group stages, and have used that money to turn pro. As the only pro club in the country, they have a massive advantage over the rest of us now so to stay ahead of them is imperative. We had a disappointing draw to Dudelange in a game we dominated, so staying ahead might not be an option.

We drew again, but didn't lose any ground. What is also a massive positive is that we beat Progres in the cup, which suggests that if we can keep to within a win of them, we can beat them again at home.

Two games, two wins. Unfortunately Progres did the same. With one game to go they need to draw or lose, and we need to win by at least 2 goals. We are away to 4th place Fola, and Progres are away to 9th place Racing Luxembourg. It doesn't look good for us :(

We have pretty much exactly the same team as last year, just a year older. The only change is the emergence of Carlos Eduardo, who played the whole season for us despite only coming into the game at the end of last season. I reckon he's going to be fantastic!

They’re quite good, yes. But we’ve gotten close to them a couple of times, and I do think we’re better than them we just need results to go our way and have a little more luck to finish above them.

This was an excellent preseason, accentuated by our Conference League run that is still ongoing. Don't be fooled by the result against Shakhtar though, they're a shell of their former selves, barely qualifying for Europe, and they haven't won the league in 16 years. Then we lost at home to Sturm and I thought it was over. Boy was I wrong. I'm pretty sure our run is over though, because we play AZ.

I knew it wouldn't be long before clubs came sniffing around our players, and Hammami is the first to go. However, we get a 40% of the profit when he's sold and get to loan him back for the season, so all is not lost.

As expected, we lost to AZ, but not before we gave them a good run. Domestically we've gotten off to a slow start, but luckily Progres have too. We've got to beat them to really slow them down further though.

A month in which we conceded no goals, topped off with a 3-0 drubbing of Progres to give us a 7 point lead with 5 games to go. It should be pretty hard to lose it from here.

We finish the season undefeated, and throw in our third straight cup for good measure. Coincidentally, it's also my fifth season here, the deadline I set myself to achieve a league win with the club. I'll be taking over the national team once the new season commences as well now that we've won.

Thought you would take more time to overtake Progrés! Good luck with the national team, this is a great addition to the save. By the way, has any of your HG talents from Lithuania or Ireland turned into a star for their respective NT? I remember the NIR striker going to the Euro at 19. How's his career going?

Also an unrelated question: what do you do when you get a really promising young player in the intakes with low determination? Like below 5

Me too, I was expecting more heartbreak for sure. Yeah in terms of the national team gig I figured I could help grow the program domestically while also seeing how of my players can become good enough to play.

In terms of the home grown talents, with Lithuania it was obviously easier for players to break into the side, and currently the best two players are our 9A player and a player who was poached from us by Rosenborg.  It looks like there are 4 or 5 players in the all time best 11 but most are retired. They're the 9A, 5A, 2A and the Rosenborg bloke. Here are the ones still playing:

ea4f56f739eda9ffd2f8105ce0ee412e.png

I actually ran into Jasaitis while managing Wexford, they sent him to their affiliate club Shamrock Rovers. Butkus is also the all time top scorer for Lithuania.

In terms of Ireland, we currently have 4 players who came through the academy in the national side. They are Daniel Murphy 6G*, a keeper who never played a game for us (may have been an oversight from me); Joe Byrne 7F, who is probably the reason why Murphy didn't get a game; Johnny Fox 10A, the wonderkid who came through in the last intake before I left and is now at Liverpool; and Damien Lynch 10B*,the second wonderkid to come through that 10th intake and is now under a 34.5M bid from Lille, a regular in the Ligue 1 top 3. We actually have a third wonderkid from that generation too, Nick van der Horst 10C*. I really should've stayed, I don't think I've ever seen anyone with three wonderkids in a single generation! The squad also has 8 players with the media description of "promising".

The only player out of the academy from Wexford currently in the Northern Irish squad is Bobby Mason 3E* , who we lost on a free to Columbus Crew, was inexplicably released and then picked up by Preston North End and has had a pretty good career there.

That bit of nostalgia was really fun :D thanks for asking!

In terms of the promising player with undesirable personality traits, I don't really do much in this save. I just buy players with good personalities and hope it rubs off of them. I also sometimes sign players I know won't make the grade in the intake but have a good personality and hope it has an effect on the squad. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I know there's the whole mentoring features you can use but I don't micromanage to that sort of detail, I prefer the old way when you could just tutor players. But in youth saves I tend to fine the hell out of them if they have poor performances, as it increases both determination and work rate. Someone in the Youth Academy Challenge thread figured that out and it's worked wonders :D

Pretty strong preseason. We were unlucky to draw Maribor in the Champions League, but I think we played really really well. We followed that up with a demolition of Valletta, including 7 goals by Rube Hens in the 9-0 win. We were solid against Alashkert, and now we play Montenegrin Sutjeska for a spot in the Conference League groups. I honestly think we have a great chance to beat them as well.

Somehow, we managed to hold on to our best striker Ludovic Bertrand which meant that the new Hammami gets pushed to the bench. But we did go a bit crazy, as our transfers from 3 seasons ago became home grown which opened up spaces for new players. We also brought in a few Letzburgesch players, namely Masson (2nd nationality) and Kouassi.

We've also maxed our youth recruitment, but the message disappeared before I could screenshot it.
