Telling my libero to not go into heading duels??

Recommended Posts

I am experimenting with a lone center back defense (2 wingbacks + one libero).

This might be very stupid, but noneless something i will see if i can make it work.

so far my biggest problem is that my libero goes into duels for headers, despsite me telling him not to presure or might tighly.

When he goes into heading duels and lose (especially against a 2 man attack), the opponent gets a chance.

anyone who has an idea about how i can tell my libero, to basicly let the striker get the ball, and ony start pressing him, once he has the ball at his feet?

I mean why do you even want to do that? Against a 2 man attack whether your libero wins the aerial duel or not he is going to have trouble 1 v 2 in a counter attack. Not going for the aerial duel is even worse TBH. You basically just lets the attacker get the ball, turn and run at you all without any pressure.

As zyfon says, its actually weird you want that. Winning the header is the best chance he has at cutting the attack. If the attacker receives and he has another partner supporting him against your lone defender, they sould be able to easily go around him everyt time unless they do a mistake.
