Trying to create a loser bracket but it's hard

Most of my attempts get the following error message "0 teams found, 4 needed for new stage n (semi-final of losers)".

My challenge is to pick the losers of a quarter-final (itself a knockout of losers in the same competition) but I'm lacking of idea.

In "Adv. Rules>competition n> teams", I tried to use:

- "Get Cup Round Teams"

- "Get League Stage Teams"

- "Get Qualified From Stage"

- the double-box "Ignore teams"

But it won't work well.

Am I missing something?

Pick losing teams for semi final between losing teams to decide who is 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of the competition.

If you mean "Pick losing teams for" as a feature in FM Editor, I don't find it.

Its easier to set like rounds in 1 stage. Set next round for losers/winners and thats it.

I managed to create a perfect loser bracket for a 16-team tournament.

Here's the FM20 file for those who would like to be inspired. Look at these files

Coupe du monde de la CONIFA 13.1.fmf

Vatican (Sangue Blu, spp) 3.2.1.fmf

Stage 0: groups

Stage 1: quarter finals, semi finals and final for 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th place

Stage 2: loser bracket for the 9th, 13th and 15th place.

Credits to Nabildx for the inspiration and krlenjushka for the help.

The minor drawbacks so far:

- The team history is not very pretty. For instance, suppose a team finishes 10th. In the competition honors, the game will not write " finished 10th" but rather "losed the final for 9th place". Moreover, your team will not get the honour archived in the overview page if you finished below 3th place.

- The round interface is broken, even if you look from the normal quarter finals

Stage 0 : groups

Stage 1: quarter finals, semi finals and final for 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th place

Stage 2: hidden stage to sort 3th and 4th teams from groups for Stage 3 interest. (this stage is not necessary. I made this stage when I was not sure about the right architecture. Use directly the "Get League Stage teams" in Stage 3)

Stage 3: loser bracket for the 9th, 13th and 15th place.
