Boards Blocking Transfers

Recommended Posts

Why? I transfer-listed a player I'm not going to play, we paid £500,000 and we're selling him for £1,000,000 but the board want £1,400,000 for him. We're in a very healthy financial position so we don't need the funds.

I talked to the board and there were 4 conversational options, all of which resulted in the same outcome. Why oh why have this "feature" if it doesn't change the outcome? Why can't I continue to remonstrate with the board? Is that how conversations work IRL?

The bottom line is that you are an employee and they are the employers whose money you are using.  It may not be fair or even reasonable but it is their right to keep a tight control on the finances.  I have always found that after a few seasons, they will be happy to go along with your decisions.

How long is on the contract?  If you transfer list the player the club also have to pay him money i think.

You only have to pay if you release the player in mid contract when you have to pay up to the end of the contract.  Unless a contribution from the selling club is demanded by the buying club, you don't have to contribute when you sell a player in mid contract.

Don't you have to pay out the outstanding loyalty bonus sometimes? I feel like I've made transfers where the small print tells me I have to pay this to the player if the transfer goes through.

yes that is indeed possible depending on the contract conditions.
