Brilliant save and lovely to pop in and read.  Disappointing you never got that treble and the Betfred was alway beyond your reach.

It's disappointing not to have accomplished all the goals but sometimes you just have the urge for a fresh save.

What that's going to be I haven't quite figured out yet :idiot:

A New Era 2068-2072

So let's have our first look at how the club has done in the five years since my retirement...

League.PNG.06300b08356f8324dcdc3767153ff05e.PNG

Well how's about them apples? The one domestic cup competition that eluded me in my time has been won as the club won the Betfred Cup. Other than that though the club hasn't hit the heights I took them to but I'm pleased to see that they still remain a Premiership side.

The club has really been splashing the cash I worked hard to build up but that's each managers prerogative...

Transfers.PNG.06ca0a1a2d4190d5268a660f081995e2.PNG

They do seem to be spending in a sensible manner though and the books seem to be being balanced over the period.

As a result of all that activity, as you can imagine, the squad now bares little resemblance to the one I left, only a few players remain.

Speaking of the managers that have splashed the cash in the intervening years, let's have a look at them...

Managers.PNG.5078ea4a031458dc6cb2e5ee8f97032a.PNG

Three in five years, not the most stable of hot seats but come on, it was always going to be tough to replace a man of my calibre :brock:

1498687755_BestEleven.PNG.6122d7d9f377805a10cc4ae889787b05.PNG

By and large the club remains the same, training facilities have dropped a notch and for some reason James Ward has dropped out of the Hall of Fame for an older player, I didn't know that was possible?  If William McGinn continues at the club he could be in line to become the clubs all time appearance record holder.

It's worth noting also that the Jambo's have dominated the league since my retirement and won five in a row.

A New Era 2073-77

10 years since my retirement. Let's see how the club did in a period when they celebrated their double centenary, 200 hundred years as a club...

Honours.PNG.24320624920cb888f7cea6dbbbb6c555.PNG

Sadly no honours at all over the period :(

League.PNG.56bbc9cce4ddf6bcaab1f82f49b06987.PNG

They've consistently finished in the top six which is great, the club is clearly still an established top end club but with a win high of 16 for a season they clearly aren't a side that competing for any titles.

Transfers.PNG.94a386e02a1ed59eb5c2522b7886ac2e.PNG

The club's really been splashing the cash over this period. On paper the squad is far better than I was working with but not getting the results like I managed. The things I could have accomplished with this standard of player ;). Only Matty McDonald remains from my time at the club.

There has been manager stability over this period for the club...

Managers.PNG.0232b43c00a3e6d0351d867817cf6621.PNG

...that's good to see. Hopefully Cesar can take the club to glory in the years ahead.

Facilities.PNG.26e362508e840717350f64f40e5c8443.PNG

Finances.PNG.7a2d058defcff048a8d1591befadac8e.PNG

554399872_BestXI.PNG.c06340dddf4bff3b77819c6d5e696fcb.PNG

William McGinn didn't become the clubs record appearance maker but he has become an official 'Icon' at the club which is great to see.

The training facilities has dropped another notch and the youth facilities have also dropped one, I hope the board move to rectify this in the next five years and this isn't the start of a decline for the club as that will hurt us in the future. It's still the same board and they were tasking me with having the best youth system in the world so why have they let this slip?

There has been a player from after my reign to make it into the Hall of Fame as Victor Dobler dislodges Allan Menzies at right back adding South American flair and a touch of International flavour.

I'm happy that the club is still in the SPL and making top six, I would really have hated it if they'd have faded away into obscurity straight after all I had done.

Hibs, Hearts and Celtic have all won the title in the intervening years.

I finally got round to catching up on the last 20+ seasons and was about to comment, saying that it’s been the longest save I recall of yours and now I read that it’s over!

Been one hell of a ride - looking forward to being a bit more active in whatever you do next.

Ta pal.

It is my longest save on the boards no doubt.

Think I will take time away until the new release and play around a bit with save ideas and see what takes ready for next year.

Currently floating an Italian lower league, build a nation or maybe a Dutch/Belgian side and create heavy links with South America due to the no work permits rules. Also toying with a Scandinavian or Asian journeyman’s save.

The Italian save idea is actually all written up intro wise and spreadsheets for 50 years all mapped out ready for data input but I don’t know if I could do it justice in terms of length before the new release drops and also my gut telling me I think I want a break from Europe for a bit, or at the very least the big 5 leagues.

But first I think I need to go away and have a bit of a fun save with maybe a more established side and just spend some cash and not have to think too much and recharge some batteries.

Fantastic work here and I'm sad to see you come to an end as I've really enjoyed following your progress. However, I completely appreciate that every good thing comes to an end!

A New Era 2078-82

EUROPEAN GLORY HAS COME TO THE TIN PAIL!!!

Honours.PNG.5f8eafc1046015fac84f070d7056f05a.PNG

Yes Vale of Clyde fans can now talk about the time they won the Europa Conference League and the incredible run they went on. Brilliant to see.

The league campaigns have been consistent with what they've done previously in the last ten years...

League.PNG.e3e6f866d39cf295c719b94e5c10bcaf.PNG

...mainly finishing in the top six but not anywhere near the title or challenging for it.

Transfers.PNG.e4e021054918b533dda8f25c243878bd.PNG

The club have continued to spend money and not really make a lot back but the finances are still good at the club, the prize money and gate receipts taking care of the bank balance.

The squad is decent, sad to see the lack of homegrown talent though.

Managers.PNG.7e5f31b5bf6615836f9cf6984c53aae1.PNG

A couple of managers have come and gone, nobody seems to want the job for a prolonged period. Maybe Paul Dailly could have maybe carved out a bigger legacy but after the European feat achieved with the club he left to manage the national side.

Facilities.PNG.5cbbdcbc64c85c6b3043889ba50d7999.PNG

Finances.PNG.937d99570cb02f4c887bda283354754c.PNG

The youth facilities have dropped another notch sadly, the board no longer seem interested in keeping high standards.

954158441_BestXI.PNG.13092b2ccc37feae494034308bfa21e2.PNG

So there has been a couple of players make it into the Hall of Fame/Best Eleven.

Owen McLaughlin has dislodged the Corey Adams and Charles Batch David Watson, two English boys. Aitor Prieto adds some international flavour to proceedings also.

So still no further league titles and I suspect that's how it will continue but I would have happily accepted that as a fan if you offered me a European title. Fantastic memories for the fans and something to cherish for years to come.

Thank you thank you.

It's been a great time but yes, everything does have to come to an end. Hopefully next release save on here can last the test of time as I love having just the one save file for a release.

A New Era 2083-87

Let's have a look at the final 5 years into the future...

Honours.PNG.ec542a459127c3fa6243fe0cd8486e2f.PNG

Sadly there has been no further silverware for the club but there was a Scottish Cup final appearance in 2086.

League.PNG.aaee3781588f880429e21efd66b6f669.PNG

We're still a mid-table club but we have started slipping out of the top six by the split which is worrying.

Transfers.PNG.53561785513aa5b5038887eb48bd8ef1.PNG

The club still continue to splash the cash without getting much back in return but the finances are still looking ok so nothing to worry about top much. There is some definite talent in the squad nowadays so it's a shame the managers at the helm haven't achieved more. Speaking of which...

Managers.PNG.29cb6818ee713557bbda046f573e9185.PNG

Just the two managers over the period, only two managers have won silverware since my retirement.

Facilities.PNG.f84f761d1e888929fbe6202151bb326b.PNG

Finances.PNG.fd9b0eb4b02f7e648836901cc936ebbd.PNG

The Ashley Neto Arena has somehow doubled in size over the past five years, I don't understand how as I checked the editor while playing and it showed us to have reached the expansion limit...:idiot:. Facilities and recruitment has stayed the same over this past five year. There is a board takeover currently so yet another new era beckons for the club.

There is a new player who has joined an illustrious list of Icons at the club so let's see how the final Best Eleven of all time looks as we end the save...

408411326_BestXI.PNG.307edaad1337df8f003596fbb3018e99.PNG

Walsh Justin dropped Calum Richardson to the bench in this all star team. Sebastian has also made it into the all star team after his year's of service and the fact he was one of the Europa Conference winners with the club.

Looks like it was replaced by a newly-built Ashley Neto Park in 2084. :brock:

The guys not even in the best eleven squad anymore

How's he got ANOTHER stadium named after him but me, the GREATEST MANAGER the club has ever had doesn't get the honour?

The State of Scottish Football

So how has Scotland as a nation and the league fared over the near 70 years of the save file?

Well after Celtic's Champions League exploits in the 2030's the SPL actually made it as high as 3rd in European competition rankings but as we end the save we find the league sitting 5th now...

2078871775_LeagueRep.PNG.980e4254a1739d437f5c0cf823e9d2eb.PNG

There has been plenty of European silverware for Scottish clubs over the period also with the aforementioned Celtic winning the Champions League in 2035, 2036 and 2057. They won the Club World Cup in 2041, the Europa League in 2032 and the European Super Cup in 2036 and 2057.

Aberdeen have won the Europa League on two occasions in 2048 and 2082, the Europa Conference on three occasions in 2044, 2050 and 2052.

Hearts have won the Europa Conference in 2066 and the Europa League in 2076.

Hibs have a better record than the Jambos with three Europa Conference titles in 2038, 2061 and 2074 and also a Europa League win in 2080 alongside a European Super Cup in the same year.

Rangers have been the real surprise of the save with a drastic drop off of the club happening over the years. They have managed to add to their 1972 Cup Winners Cup with a Europa League title in 2042 under the stewardship of Trent Alexander Arnold who went on to become one of the managerial legends of the save although has since dropped out of the Hall of Fame, more of that to come in a later post.

And of course Vale of Clyde won their own Europa Conference title after I left.

There have been numerous final appearances scattered across the competitions also so Scottish teams really have improved and can say the can mix it amongst the best in Europe.

Domestically, Celtic dominated the country from the start of the game until the mid 2040's when other's started coming more into things and receiving the Champions League money due to the increased places available. Celtic still won many trophies after the mid 2040's but they didn't have such a strangle hold on the country. At present they have 87 SPL's, 67 Scottish Cups and 42 Betfred Cups to their name.

The Edinburgh clubs have become a strong pairing in the country over the save with the Jambo's now boasting of 20 SPL's and the Hibees 7. Aberdeen have only just won their first 2 in recent years, is that a sign of things to come? Sadly we will not get to find out.

Transfer fee's have sky rocketed within Scottish football with multi-million pound deals regularly taking place. Not £XXXm deals yet but the money is definitely on the up, here is a snapshot of this years transfers for an idea of the money. The most expensive transfer actually was a £XXXm deal which saw a player leave Celtic to join Spurs for £123m.

Stadiums have improved in the Scottish game with most of the SPL and even some Championship sides having 30k plus stadiums and filling them week on week as well. It's also worth noting that Celtic have the biggest stadium in all of Britain with a colossal capacity of 104, 764 at the Willie Maley Arena.

And so to the national side.

Well, I took control of them for a while and managed to do pretty well with them on the whole, guided them out of the group stages in each tournament we played and made a quarter final appearance at China '62. Beat the English whenever we played them also which is always a nice bonus.

The nation has got better currently being at an all time high in the rankings of 9th and finishing third at Qatar 2086. The players coming through these days are of immense quality and are playing all over Europe in the top leagues in France, Germany and Italy...not Spain it seemed like, maybe a touch too hot there.

So on reflection, for those wondering how a Scottish save will play out and how the country improves now you have the answers. We're a nation who can do things ;)

Managerial Hall of Fame

Little Liam Henderson went on to have one hell of a managerial career and did the country proud.

I sadly dropped out of the nations Hall of Fame.

And throughout the game here's the list of the big time...
