Trying to add Norwegian Third Division as playable - confused

I would like to start a save with the Norwegian Third division so I have opened the editor and pathed my way to adding existing leagues as playable.

The problem is there is no way to activate this league. 

If I try the same with the 4th division I can activate the league.

I guess because the league is activated in game, but unplayable, this is the problem.

How do I get around that? Do I have toa ctivate the 4th division?

Exit your editor.

Go to folder where your FM is installed.

Probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2021\data

Delete comp editor.fmf file. Instead of that extract this zip archive.

comp editor.zip

Start ditor again and you should change all divisions now.

Thanks for that. I'd managed to get it to work beforehand and had made the league not view only.

I'm out of my depth though, I think. I get errors with the changes I made. Activated the 4th division but promotion seems to be done by play offs. 24 sections in the 4th division and 18 teams promoted.

I think i'll have to be waiting for someone with ability to do a Norwegian Third.

Let me know if you ever get this working, I'd be interested. 

I believe the owner of Passion4FM is working on activating the Norway 3rd and 4th Divisions. 

If and when that happens, i will let you know.

Default norway xml file - just change "active_comp" to "lower_division" for divisions you want to enable editing.

Does the "active comp" to "lower league" get rid of the need to assign promotion and relegation?

To be honest, it probably is simple. I went in to the editor often in past FMs, but it seems to have changed a great deal. I just don't feel entirely comfortable that I haven't done something wrong. I play slowly and the last thing I'd want is to take 5 months to get 4 years in to the future only to hit a database error.

I decided to shamelessly rely on the brilliant work of FM's modders. I downloaded Timo's excellent Dutch and Luxembourg leagues and have a fun little save started up.

No - it only changed this file so you can edit it. BTW its not hard to set this - especially in basic rules.
