Goodbye To FM After a 20 Year Friendship

Recommended Posts

FM21 is the latest for me, CM93 being the first. I've had Windows PCs all the way.

FM15 onwards have distracted me from 2 debilitating pain diseases (Dejerine-Roussy Syndrome & Fibromyalgia) and the depression and insomnia that come with them. FM21, with Microsoft's sexy new Flight Sim and my old favourite Train Simulator will get me through days and nights when life is difficult to carry on with.

All I can say is I couldn't have been luckier to have had this condition when I did. I mean imagine having a condition that keeps you at home before gaming, the internet, videos even.

Good luck my friend. Maybe see you back once you've crossed the divide to Windows. Not as good as fashionable as an imac maybe, but cheaper to buy, modify and update.

Sorry to hear about your illnesses though I fully endorse what you say.  I am now medically retired at the age of 44 due to critical heart failure and the need for a heart transplant.  The result?  I play FM most of the time.

Why not continue to play FM20 or buy a windows laptop? I cannot imagine spending my retirement (if it ever happens) not playing FM!  Don't neglect your guitar playing of course, that's important too.

You know you can still play older versions if FM21 won't work for you, i didn't get FM20 as i was having fun on a long FM19 save. Its a bit dramatic stopping playing FM alltogether.

Also its Beta, full game isn't out yet so any issues could be fixed by then.

After paying early for a Beta I cannot use and being largely ignored by the powers that be with the exception of a very late and bog standard message. I feel it is perfectly acceptable to withdraw my custom, this is the only way that a business takes any notice, when the money starts to dissapear. I hope to get a full refund but either way I will not sadly not be paying into a company I have lost faith in.

Every now and again, on this forum, you read posts like @Seen Better Days and realise that FM is so much more than a game to the FM community. It has helped people get through really difficult times, face issues I can't imagine how awful they must be, and yet, thanks to the wonderful complexities of the game we all know and love, its theraputic tweaking of tactics, mind absorbing development of players and its ability as a gateway drug into seriously addictive practices, FM isn't just a game, its a way of life.

Jeez, sorry to hear that. I bet that changed your outlook on life, scary as hell. At least mine is a slow-burn, yours must have shaken you to bits.

I'd definitely keep your eye on the forums to see if this kinda thing gets fixed. You can always hope. If not, well for this year you will be able to get an updated DB  for the 20/21 season I am sure. So you can always continue to play.

However if you want to go and explore new things then good on you, I wish you the best!

I wonder how many are reading this, silently acknowledging it as a fact but pretending otherwise......
