Stuniverse
Saturday 6th February 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v Skala Itrottarfelag Torshavn Sports: You open your pre-season schedule with a home match against top flight Skala Itrottarfelag? What are you expecting? Stuniverse: We're expecting a tough encounter, that's for sure. Skala Itrottarfelag finished 7th in Betri Deildin Menn last season so we know they will be a difficult challenge for us today. Torshavn Sports: What's your thinking behind the five friendly matches you've arranged? Stuniverse: Well we've made things challenging for ourselves with two opening games against Betri Deildin Menn opposition but, we're hoping that playing them early in pre-season may level the playing field a bit between us and those top flight teams. After that, we have three games against teams from the divison below us. We're mostly looking at building fitness with the first two or three games and then we'll focus our preparation for how we want to approach the 2. Deild league campaign. Torshavn Sports: You've been very busy in the transfer window already with 11 new arrivals. How easy or not will it be to integrate them into your squad without adversely affecting the positive team spirit that saw you finish 4th last season? Stuniverse: That's where pre-season comes in. It's a good opportunity for the players to get to know each other and for us to work on the system and tactics we want to employ during the season. Torshavn Sports: How are the squad looking fitness wise? Stuniverse: I'm pleased to say that currently, our medical team are putting their feet up and relaxing after giving our squad a clean bill of health. Torshavn Sports: I watched your interview with Jack Wilson on the Beautiful Game YouTube Channel... Stuniverse: Oh, you did, did you? Torshavn Sports: Yes. And after the interview, Jack Wilson stated as a matter-of-fact that you and the chairman had argued over transfers. Is it true that you and chairman Arnar Lognberg aren't on the same page? Stuniverse: No, there's no truth at all that Arnar and I have been arguing. The chairman and I speak regularly. We don't always agree, but we respect each other and both want what's best for Undrid Fotboltsfelag. I don't want to say Jack put words in my mouth but, maybe, maybe not, let's just say he misunderstood what I was saying. Torshavn Sports: Your Faroese has really improved, if you don't mind me saying. It's been a privilege to talk to you without a translator being present. Stuniverse: That's very kind of you to say. Thank you. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Stuniverse
Wednesday 10th February 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v 07 Vestur Torshavn Sports: For saying last time's opponents Skala Itrottarfelag play in the top flight Betri Deildin Menn, your Undrid side gave a good account of themselves. What did you make of it? Stuniverse: For our first run-out in pre-season we were very pleased. We gave 11 players about an hour's playing time and then another 11 got half an hour each. We'll do the same again today, but in reverse, so we should have around 22 players with 90 minutes in their legs by the final whistle. Yes, Skala Itrottarfelag are a good Betri Deildin Menn side and we equipped ourselves very well across the game and were still in it by the final whistle. That's credit to our players. Skala took a seventh minute lead, when we were slow to react to a cross into our box, and you do worry then against a team from two divisions higher in the pyramid that the flood gates may open, after conceding so early, but that didn't happen. My players knuckled down, dug in, and we were level with a 64th minute equaliser from Bjarni Arnason Dalsgaard. We stayed on level terms, thanks to some fine saves from our goalkeeper Terji Brynjarsson, until the 78th minute when they took the lead again. We weren't overawed, we had more possession than Skala, and we're proud of how our players performed in their first run-out of pre-season. Torshavn Sports: A different kind of test today against another top flight team in 07 Vestur. Stuniverse: Yes, I think you're right. 07 Vestur were promoted to Betri Deildin Menn after winning 1. deild last season. We expect this to be a different kind of test for us because 07 Vestur are a newly promoted side who haven't established themselves in the top flight yet. Torshavn Sports: It's often difficult to keep players at Undrid with you being an Amateur side. Has their been any approaches for any of your players? Stuniverse: Yes. About four of the squad have received contract offers from other football clubs but, fortunately, we've been able to convince all four of them to stay at J & K Vollur. -- Note: The following players have received contract offers from other clubs, but opted to stay with Undrid Fotboltsfelag. Stuniverse
Saturday 13th February 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v FC Hoyvik II Torshavn Sports: A good win against top-flight 07 Vestur in your previous friendly. What did you make of the match? Stuniverse: Obviously you don't want to get carried away in pre-season but we were delighted with the win, particularly as we had to come from behind after Vestur took the lead after 20 minutes. Coming on the back of another creditable performance, albeit a narrow defeat against another top-flight side in Skala, we're very happy with how pre-season is going so far. New signing Johan Petersen and Hordur Hentze Johansen scored our goals and they were very good goals too. Torshavn Sports: A change today as you entertain FC Hoyvik II from the divsion below you. Stuniverse: Yes. FC Hoyvik II play in 3. Deild so this is an opportunity for our players to step-up and prove they have what it takes to be regular starters for us this season. The idea is we'll aim to give the starting 11 the full 90 minutes today and then we'll aim to give a different 11 players 90 minutes in our next friendly a week tomorrow. In our final friendly, at the end of February, we'll start to seriously prepare for our 2. Deild opener against 07 Vestur II. If we feel we still need one more friendly, we'll have time before the season opener to organise one, Torshavn Sports: Do you have any injury concerns? Stuniverse: No, the squad has a clean bill of health. Our only concern has been Bjarni Olsen who missed the first two friendlies because he was struggling with fitness. Bjarni is fine now, and should start the game today, but we probably won't give him the full 90 minutes. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Stuniverse
Sunday 21st February 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v Sandoyar Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1971 Torshavn Sports: You were very impressive in your 4-1 friendly win over FC Hoyvik II last weekend. Was that to be expected given they play in the division below you? Stuniverse: No. Not necessarily, football throws up surprise results all the time. Against FC Hoyvik II the players really responded to what we asked them to do, namely put in a performance and show me why I should pick you for the 2. Deild league opener. The players responded magnificently, none more so than Bjarni Arnason Dalsgaard who scored a sensational hat-trick. Torshavn Sports: Next up today is another 3. Deild team Sandoyar Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1971. Are you looking for more of the same? Stuniverse: Absolutely. The players who played against FC Hoyvik II all staked a serious claim for a regular starting place. We'll go with a completely different 11 against Sandoyar Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1971 and it's up to the players on the pitch today to stake their own claim for a starting spot and give me some decisions to make. Torshavn Sports: Against FVC Hoyvik II, Johansen picked up a knee injury. How is he? Stuniverse: Yes, that was unfortunate. Hordur Hentze Johansen twisted his knee last weekend. Hordur's responded brilliantly to treatment this week and he's available for selection, although we probably won't risk him. Torshavn Sports: Any other injury problems? Stuniverse: No. Fortunately. Everybody is fit and available for selection. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Stuniverse
Sunday 28th February 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v Midvags Boltfelag Torshavn Sports: You scraped a win last time against 10-men Sandoyar Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1971, who play in the division below you. You can't be happy with that performance, surely? Stuniverse: At the end of the day, a win's a win, and you can't always win pretty. We got off to a bad start after just five minutes when Martin Midjord mistimed his tackle in the area and conceded a penalty, which they scored by sending Fridi Sigurdsson the wrong way. We dug in after that and goals from Ragnar Tausen and Hogni Midjord edged us in front by the break. There was no further scoring in the second-half, although it could've been a more comfortable win as Ragnar Tausen had two great chances after the break, but he couldn't get his shots on target. Torshavn Sports: What did you make of their sending off? Stuniverse: Oh, it was a definite red. There's no place in the game for that sort of violence. And coming in a pre-season game, I just don't get it. Their player, I won't even say his name, deliberately swung his elbow into Lennert Dalsgaard's face. We're lucky Lennert wasn't seriously hurt. Torshavn Sports: Your last match of pre-season is against Midvags Boltfelag, another team from the division below you. Will the team that starts today be the team that kicks-off your 2. Deild campaign against 07 Vestur II? Stuniverse: The honest answer to that is I don't know. The 11 that start today against Midvags Botfelag have the opportunity to impress and keep their shirt for the 2. Deild opener, but I haven't really thought about the 07 Vestur II game yet so I have no idea what the team for that game will be. I'm only thinking about getting a result today in the friendly game against Midvags Boltfelag. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Stuniverse
Monday 8th March 2021 COACHING BADGES UPDATE Annika Vestergaard: Are you alright, Stuniverse? Stuniverse: Yes. I'm fine. Annika Vestergaard: Are you sure? You haven't seemed yourself since we got back from visiting your parents this weekend. Stuniverse: I'm ok. Nothing to worry about. Annika Vestergaard: I am worried though. I've known you for long enough, I can tell when something's up. And something's up. Now out with it. What is it? Stuniverse: It's Arnar Lognberg. Annika Vestergaard: The chairman. Is this about your coaching badges? I told you not to keep hassling Arnar about that. It won't get you anywhere. Stuniverse: That's just it, Annika. I haven't asked him again. Annika Vestergaard: Then what's the problem? Stuniverse: Well, Arnar won't fund a coaching course for me. But he's paid for a course for Esmar Aedustein Poulsen the Undrid II-team manager and also for my goalkeeping coach Johannus Sorensen. But he won't pay for one for me. What's that all about? Can you explain that? Annika Vestergaard: No. No, I can't explain it. But I do know Arnar is pleased with the job you're doing. Stuniverse: Well, he's got a funny way of showing it. Annika Vestergaard: I know. I just don't think he wants to lose you and he thinks the more qualified you are, the more attractive an option you'll be for other football clubs. Stuniverse: He must know I won't be manager of Undrid Fotboltsfelag forever. I need to earn a salary. I can't stay here indefinitely earning nothing. Annika Vestergaard: I know. Stuniverse: Don't get me wrong, Annika. Football-wise I'm enjoying it here. We finished 4th last season, we've had a good pre-season, we've strengthened the squad, and I'm confident Undrid Fotboltsfelag will have a successful season. But on the downside, and it's a big downside, Arnar's not paying me, he won't fund a coaching course for me, and his Under-23 transfer policy is making it really difficult to sign players who will improve us. Annika Vestergaard: I do get it. I understand. Have you heard anything from your agent? Stuniverse: No. Not a thing. I told Stan a few weeks ago to stop texting me the rejections because they were getting me down and he said he'd be in touch when he had some news. That was the last conversation I had with Stan. I've not heard from him since. Edited January 11, 2021 by Stuniverse

Stuniverse
Friday 12th March 2021 PREVIEW: 07 Vestur II v Undrid Fotboltsfelag Torshavn Sports: You kick-off your 2. Deild campaign tonight. How do you feel pre-season went? Stuniverse: Very well. We're delighted with our pre-season performances and results. Four wins out of five, and the only defeat was a narrow 2-1 defeat to top flight Betri Deildin Menn side Skala. We're happy with that. We've managed to retain our squad from last season, a squad who did magnificently well to finish 4th, and we've been able to add to the squad as well. Football predictions are notoriously unreliable but we're quietly confident we can do at least as well as last season, if not better. Torshavn Sports: First up is an away trip to face newly promoted 07 Vestur II. Can you start the campaign with a win? Stuniverse: We'd love to do that, of course, and that's what we'll be trying our best to achieve. Vestur may be newly promoted from 3. Deild, but they're predicted to finish 4th so we have to respect them and take them seriously. That said, we like the way we're shaping up after pre-season and I'm confident the players will get Undrid Fotboltsfelag off to a good start tonight. Torshavn Sports: All your pre-season games were at home at the J & K Vollur. Was that wise, given that you start the campaign away from home at Vestur's a Dungasandi? Stuniverse: I guess we'll find out later, won't we? You have to remember that we're an Amateur team. All the players and backroom staff have day jobs. We wanted to minimise disruption as much as possible during pre-season and we thought playing our friendlies at home would help us achieve that. Torshavn Sports: Any injury concerns? Stuniverse: Our medical team have given everybody a clean bill of health. I have a full squad to select from. Torshavn Sports: Good luck. Stuniverse: Thank you. Stuniverse
Monday 15th March 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v Boltfelagid Royn Torshavn Sports: A brilliant start to the season on Friday. Nobody expected a 6-1 away win. You must've been happy with the way the match against 07 Vestur II went. Stuniverse: Absolutely. You want to win your opening game, you want to win every game, and we were confident going into the Vestur game, but to win so comfortably was fantastic and will be a brilliant confidence boost for the players. Bjarni Arnason Dalsgaard gave us an early lead, only for them to draw level on six minutes after we failed to deal with a routine cross into the box, but after that we hardly put a foot wrong. Bjarni completed a hat-trick, Hogni Midjord, Hordur Hentze Johansen and Johan Petersen all chipped in with a goal a piece. I think that's the best we've played since I took over as Undrid Fotboltsfelag manager. Torshavn Sports: Today it's a break from the league with a Logmanssteypid First Round tie against Boltfelagid Royn, who narrowly avoided relegation last season. You beat them comfortably three times last season and must be strong favourites today in your own J & K Vollur Stadium. Stuniverse: We don't think like that. Boltfelagid Royn also won their opening 2. Deild game at the weekend and have the ability to cause us problems. Last season counts for nothing any more. They have a couple of new players, we have quite a few new players. But we are confident of progressing to the next round in front of our own supporters. Torshavn Sports: I assume after the performance against Vestur you'll be unchanged against Royn today. Stuniverse: I don't know to be honest. We played Vestur on Friday evening, and go again at 3.00 pm today [Monday], which doesn't allow much recovery time. As always, I'll select the team and match-day squad that I think gives us the best chance of getting a win. Stuniverse
Saturday 20th March 2021 PREVIEW: Itrottarfelag Fuglafjardar II v Undrid Fotboltsfelag Torshavn Sports: Who would've thought it, you entertained Boltfelagid Royn in the Logmanssteypid and secured another 6-1 victory. Stuniverse: I know. It's pretty incredible really, but we'll take it. Bjarni Arnason Dalsgard and Hordur Hentze Johasen both grabbed braces, and Hogni Midjord and Kasper Frandsen both scored a goal in a superb, all-round team display. Torshavn Sports: Back to league action in 2. Deild with an away trip to newly promoted Itrottarfelag Fuglafjardar II. Surely you can't score another six? Stuniverse: I think scoring six in our first two games of the season has been stretching things and we've surprised ourselves how well we've played. Last season, all the games were close, tight affairs and I'd imagine that'll be the case in most of the games this campaign. Torshavn Sports: The fixture computer hasn't been too kind to you with four of Undrid's first five 2. Deild fixtures away from home. Stuniverse: Tell me about it. But there's nothing we can do about it. We just have to get on with it. Please LIKE if you enjoyed this update and FOLLOW the thread so you don't miss future updates. Stuniverse
Saturday 27th March 2021 PREVIEW: Undrid Fotboltsfelag v Tofta Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1968 II Torshavn Sports: Well you didn't score six this time, but a 5-0 victory at Itrottarfelag Fuglafjardar II saw you go top of 2. Deild. Now that you've reached the summit, can you stay there? Stuniverse: It's very early days, of course, but going top gives us all confidence. Once again, I can't fault the players, they were all magnificent. Bjarni Arnason Dalsgaard scored a hat-trick, and Kasper Frandsen and Hordur Hentze Johansen both got on the score sheet. We've only played two games, and there's another 25 left to play, but we're over-the-moon with the start we've made. Torshavn Sports: Your first home league match of the season is a top-of-the-table clash at J & K Vollur against Tofta Itrottarfelag Boltfelagid 1968 II. This is an early six-pointer, isn't it? Stuniverse: I think it's too early in the season to be talking about six-pointers but, I'll admit, the league table will look very nice this evening if we can get a win and claim all three points. Torshavn Sports: Is everybody still fit and available for selection? Stuniverse: Sadly, not. Mathias Schou (calf) and Scott O'Neill (knee) have both picked up injuries in training this week and will be out for a few weeks.
