Once again I will be attempting the dafuge challenge. I've attempted this a number of times, most notably in FM16 when I got as far as winning the Premier League with Dorchester Town. This time I'm going deep into the Westcountry and taking over as manager of Truro City.

August 2021

As a newly promoted side, I wasn't expecting to do this well. The first 3 games were particularly good, but as August went on, teams started to better work against our tactic.

Our tactic is fairly simple: get it forward fast. The basic idea is that the ball is lumped up the pitch to Louis Rooney, who will lay it off to Neal who will finish the move off. We've also scored a good portion of our goals from set pieces, mostly corners and long throws - but if the opposition goalkeeper gets the ball, we'll be caught on the counter.

We're definitely in the right kind of place, but it's very early doors.

Transfers

Although my starting squad was already pretty strong, it was also lacking in depth, so dipping into the transfer market was vital.

The draws against teams in the lower reaches of the table are disappointing, but the goals continue to come in from a healthy variety of players.

Still very much in the running, but Dover, who are hot favourites for the title, are starting to gain some pace.

Transfers

Two more players added, mostly just to add a bit more depth to the squad.

October 2021

We couldn't quite go unbeaten through October, but we're into the FA Cup proper, where we will play League Two team Mansfield.

We're very much part of the breakaway group, even if we're 7 points behind the leaders.

Solid start mate. Interesting that you've got Louis Rooney as your Target Man. Is he not better at leading the attack than supporting it? (he was when he was at Argyle IRL)

Neal is way too good a finisher. I need Rooney on support, although he is scoring a fair few himself!

We're out of the cup after Mansfield proved far too strong, but 3 good wins in the league, especially the sneaky 1-0 win against table topping Dover.

I would say we're among the favourites for the title now we seem to have found form. Let's hope we can keep it going as we hit Christmas!

A slightly better left back.

Much better in the league with just 2 points dropped. I'm not too upset about the FA Trophy defeat as I simply do not have the squad depth for it.

We'll need a good run of form and for the teams above to drop off for any chance at automatic promotion.

A little more depth in the centre of defence.

We finish the season with a series of poor games, but the performance against Concord gives me a little hope.

We comfortably qualify for the playoffs, where our first opponents will be Oxford City.
