XML files in FM21 Beta

This is true (SI ideally want feedback on the unmodified game), but it's still been possible to trick previous years' betas into loading editor data when it's in XML, and I've experimented with getting it to work in this one.

From what I can tell, database only changes can still be enabled whether they are XML or FMF files. The checkbox will usually be disabled saying "this file needs to be verified" even though DB only changes have generally not needed verification (though the Bookmakers file from Susie's FM20 licence fix still lets the checkbox work for some reason that  I might investigate further), but if you use the Select All button it'll still say the files are enabled.

Of course, that doesn't guarantee that the game actually loads them, and even if it loads them database changes from previous versions are not always compatible with the new DB anyway so it's not clear it'll work. (for example, the bookmakers added in even the file that the game lets you enable do not appear to actually get added).

On the other hand, any files that change rules (whether in the normal or advanced rules) won't be loaded with "select all" and will say it requires verification even if it was verified in the previous version (either normally in the editor or using the old XML trick to edit the "verf" flag directly and trick the game into thinking it was verified).

This suggests to me that the game checks for whether editor data is "verified" in some unexpected new way (or, alternatively, just checks the "vrvr" field from the previous XML format but needs a value there that I haven't been able to identify), but on the other hand the fact that ONE old file of the twenty I've tested manages to pass whatever new check they have implies there's, maybe, a way around it. Is it worth trying to find it when the editor will be enabled in a week and a half? Probably not, honestly.

I managed to use all files that I  exported from the 2020 editor, excluding the ones using "extended rules" .  (what is something really annoying for me, I always use extended rules to make reserve team games not happening at the same time than main team).

Anyway, here's what I've done :

-export file  to xml within the 2020 editor

- modify the "orvvs" and "svvs" datas in  xml files and put numbre version "2100", and nothing else

        <string id="orvs" value="2100"/>
        <string id="svvs" value="2100"/>

When launching new Career, FM says that the files are not vérified baut counts them as an active file, and starts with the modifications in the files.

Let me know if it worked for you.

PS : sorry for english mistakes, I wish I could speak (write) a better english than I do.

Without access to the FM21 Editor, it's quite difficult to get files into FM21 as you cannot verify or test the files.  There's no knowing if any database changes will have failed without manually checking the game afterwards.

I do usually release fixtures for the beta though, as this doesn't involve any database changes and the file is configures in the advanced rules to only contain fixtures and not to amend any other rules for the league.

The file is downloadable in the following link.
