In the Trophee des Champions, we set the tone for the year with a 5-1 hammering of Lyon.

Smashed the league. Our first Ligue 1 title. At one point, we went 19 games unbeaten before games stacked up toward the end. First part of the challenge complete!

In the French Cup, we made it all the way to the final but AS Monaco were the better team on the day and beat us 3-1

We made easy work of the group stage of the Champions League.

In the knockout stages, we beat Rangers, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to set up a final versus Chelsea at Celtic Park.

We raced into a 3-0 lead and held on until the break. I expected more from Chelsea and they managed to pull one back early in the second half.

We continued to hold on until the 94th minute where we won and scored a penalty to put the icing on the cake. 4-1 and Sannois SG are Champions of Europe!

Thanks. I think we have been plateauing out over the last few seasons but there are a few good young prospects coming through.  I am still enjoying the save so not too bothered about the defeat.  Hopefully we will get there again one day!

It is the thing that terrifies me about this challenge. If I'm buying / selling players and the finances are ok, I feel like I can definitely get better every season until I'm near unbeatable, but in this challenge things can go backwards fast.

Anyway, I'm nowhere near the Champions League, so that's first world problems for me at the moment.

I'd have to say, you look in good shape though.

Farnborough 2035-36 Season Review

Fixtures 1, 2, 3 - A tweak to our training which gave our players more rest really helped stay fresh during the busy months of November and December.  This saw us move to the top of the table where we remained for the rest of the season.

League Table - A 100-point season with 30 wins and 10 draws finally put some silverware in the cabinet for this save.  Wimbledon will be joining us in the Championship next season.  League One says goodbye to Solihuil Moors, Walsall, Colchester and Swindon as they depart for League Two.

Playoff Tree - Huddersfield win the playoff to move up to the Championship at the expense of finalists Peterborough and semifinalists Southend and Swansea.

FA Cup - Easy wins over Morecambe and York set us up in a road tie against Arsenal who beat us 3-0.

League Cup - Our best ever showing the League Cup as we advanced to the fourth round before we got matched up against Norwich who beat us 3-1.

Papa John's Trophy - Another trophy competition that I won't miss.  Only one win in penalties as we failed to advance out of the group stage yet again.

xG General Performance - A graph worthy of a champion.  We averaged just over two goals per game and allowed just under one goal per game.  We were near the top of the league in shots per game (a massive change over previous seasons).  We were a touch less clinical in our shooting but that is to be expected as our shot volume increased.

xG Expected-Actual - Slight overperformance across the board but it's really just splitting hairs.

Player of the Year Austin Power 31G - Austin did an outstanding job as our starting center forward this season by scoring 26 goals in all competitions including 24 goals in League One play.  He chipped in with eight assists as well.

Newcomer of the Year Ed Tuck 35E - Tuck stormed on the scene and became our starting left wing forward by the end of the season.  After scoring 22 goals with the U23 team, he moved up and added nine goals in 16 League One appearances.

Almanac

The youth team, like the senior team, brings home some silverware as well.

Soufaine Dghoughi 25A could make a run at 500 appearances.  Austin Power 31G will soon become the leading goalscorer from the academy early next season.

Not much movement here.

Austin Power 31G is the first choice center forward for the U21 Ireland team.  Anthony Kyprianou 35G has made many appears for the Cyprus U21 team as well.  Still not a lot of goals in international play.

Continuing to invest in our youth facilities to make us better.

Looks like we are going to try building a new stadium again.

Save History

England have two of the last four World Cup.  USA and Turkey with surprise runner-up finishes.

The European Championship has been the personal playground for France with one title and back-to-back runner-up finishes.

Five different European clubs have won the Club World Cup with Europe sweeping the top three positions after the switch to the new format.

Back-to-back Olympic gold medals for Brazil.

Brazil with two Copa America titles followed by Argentina and then visiting Mexico.

African Nations Cup has seen multiple clubs win two titles.

Japan has won the last two Asian Cup titles which was preceded by a shock Uzbekistian win in 2026-27.

The USA is the middle of an eight-year Gold Cup drought while watch Mexico lift the trophy twice and Canada once in that span.

A lot of the usual suspects winning the Champions League with Napoli as "the outlier" in the group.

The Europa League is just another competition for the Big Five leagues.  Brighton with a shock win in 2025.

More success by the mid-tier Big Five leagues in the Europa Conference.

I've got 3 very old first-team players (36-37) and a couple of 16 year olds already at the club who have the potential to be first-team players and replace them. Should I just start getting them as much game time as possible?

I play the kids.  Get them first-term exposure.  Maybe they play really well and I can sell them to help keep the club afloat until even better young players come in through the intakes.

Vikeologist's 25th Folkestone Intake Report (and 21st Intake Review)

We improved our training and youth facilities last summer, and we’re doing it again this summer, plus our youth recruitment has gone up a notch, so it makes sense that this looks like the worst intake for ages. Not only that, but the top prospects are in positions we don’t need.

The personalities are a bit rubbish as well.

However, I think this is my first bad intake for ages, so I can take it on the chin.

I didn’t sign many emerges last year, so I’m offering the 3* potential players youth contracts, but I’m only going to tag 4.

Jonathan Strudwick 25a – An attacking right winger, which we don’t even use, so I’ll be training him to be a central midfielder. I am a bit thin in that position, so he should get some matches if he can develop a bit.

YP21 Review

This intake turned out to be fantastic. At the moment it looks like my best intake ever. Now I’m going to start Taylor, 5 of my starting eleven will have come from just this one intake.

 

Eden White 21a – Has developed into a good player (central midfielder) though his average ratings remain low. Was getting a bit fidgety earlier this season, but is happy to stay now, which is good because we need him.

Dave Jackson 21b – Our best striker. He was the top scorer in the division last season, and pretty much ensured he would be again in the first half of this one scoring 31 times in all competitions by Christmas. He’s gone off the boil a bit since then though.

Robert McStravick 21c – Originally was the 21b. So Dave Jackson and Robert McStravick were identical in almost every way. Both strikers. Same CA. Same PA. The only difference was that Jackson had a great personality, McStravick a terrible one. (Casual, I think). So I swapped their tags around when I saw that. This guy couldn’t take being fined, and wouldn’t re-up at the end of his contract, so he’s now playing in Northern Ireland. Not a big loss. He’s not half the player that Jackson is. A brutal example of the importance of personalities.

Steven 'Shamrock' Larkin 21d – The nickname’s because my best central defender has the same surname, and I don’t want to get the 2 of them mixed up. Last season I sold my best 2 goalies, and Shamrock has been the starter since the start of the season. He’s pretty good, but his personality is Mercenary. He’s on his 3^rd contract already as I try to edge up his ridiculously low release clause. I dare say a higher league club will snap him up at some point. I do have other promising goalies though.

Alex Taylor 21e – Is natural both as a left back (recommended position) and as a left winger (which is where I needed a backup and what I’ve tried to train him to be). However another backup left winger has emerged, so I’m going to start left back training, because that’s the role on my tactics that he most suits. Also, he could be the starter in that position, and given his potential, should be.

James Jennings 21g – Is my starting right winger. I have lots of right wingers with the potential to be better than him, but he’s done well since becoming the starter.

FC Novokuznetsk - Season 2036/37 Review

Wow, that was a tough season! 6 league wins in a season will do something to you, and it's not pretty. The main thing is that we did survive, but only barely. We were in a group of 4 teams fighting to avoid the last two positions and rather stay in the two above that put us into the playoffs against teams from the 2nd tier. In the end we did it and finished in 13th place and had to save our skin in the playoff. We just about had enough about us to beat out Chertanovo over two legs and stay up.

We endured some major beatings from the top teams though, including a 0-7 home defeat to Krasnodar and the same result away against Dynamo Moscow! So we are far away from competing with the big boys here. We did make some money from this so I got a few improvements approved, and that's something I've not been able to get for many years now.

In the Kubok Rossii we started in the 4th round group stage where we finished 2nd behind Chertanovo and ahead of Anji, but we still got knocked out.

Youth

Looks good, but with all the poor intakes lately, I don't expect much.

Wow, an actually good intake with a couple of talented players!

Amazing name, Boris Mbock 37n, and also quite a good player!

U21s:

They finally joined a league! They struggled about as much as the main team did, and finished 14th in the Russian U21 Division.

U18s:

After getting promoted, the U18s no longer have a league to play in for some reason. But they do have a cup! In the RPD U18 Cup they won their group, but lost to CSKA Moscow U18s in the quarter final.

A few new countries now. Tajikistan and Latvia added this time around. Of the bordering countries I think we are only missing Norway, Estonia, Poland (though the Kaliningrad exclave), Mongolia and North Korea (I don't count Japan as bordering even though there's only about 42 kilometers from the south of Sakhalin to the north of Hokkaido, as well as the border disputes around the Kuril Islands) . So we are getting there!

Chengfeng Season 41/42 Review

Very good season with finishing 5th. We lost to Peking BSU on the final day, so no Champions League for us next season. We nearly did it with a Cupwin but lost in the final after a nice run. But we are progressing quite nicely and another year in which we could keep our best players.

Facilities

We continue to upgrade them and actually got a new vision. I dont know if we will make it, but its nice because like this the board agrees to every upgrade. Soon we have the youth facilities, Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitement fully upgraded.

Best Player

Our best player Niu Yifan (38C) is our first player with an international cap

Our other standout players are Li Ming, Liu Hongliang, Zhang Jejun and When Zhi. We are lacking fullbacks at the moment, so I hope the intake will provide some.

Youth Intake

Another nice one this season and I really dont wanna complain but we dont get any foreign talent, even tho I have knowledge of different places and also coaches from Europe.

Really really exited about Wang Hai

But also Tang An and You Yan looking good.

I have had a number of starts in this challenge this year without really making it off the runway.

In the background I have slowly been churning away on a save with Morpeth Town FC in England, and I think having reached the fifth season, that this save will actually stick.

So meet the manager og Morpeth Town FC.

The facilities at the beginning are

• Training Facilities: Basic
• Youth Facilities: Poor
• Junior Coacing: Fairly basic
• Youth Recruitment: Basic

I picked Morpeth because they have a really strong and experienced squad for this level, which will give us a good base and a foothold in this challenge.

The squad is however aging, so we will need to develop decent replacements in the first few years.

We have a strong axis of Jeff Henderson in defense, who is also a Model Citizen, in midfield we have Liam Noble, formerly of Sunderland, and in attack we have Liam Henderson.

So the current squad is strong and experienced, but the real challenge will be to replace the current players in the first years with decent youth players.

Manager of the year!

Season 8 review

We lost our 2 best players before a ball was even kicked due to release clauses being met. It was completely my fault and I've learned from the mistake.

A best ever points total, games won and goals scored saw us finish in our highest ever top flight position in a very respectable 6th place. We were miles behind the top 2 but a very strong end to the season gives me the belief we’ll be competing for trophies very soon.

We qualified for the Copa Libertadores and I won my first manager of the year award.

 

Sao Paulo State Championship

We managed to finish as runners up this year but at a great cost. Our players were exhausted before we even played a league game, meaning we lost 5 of our first 6 and any title push was over before it began. The board doesn't even care about this tournament anymore, so going forward I’m gonna play the kids and save the first team squad for the league and Copa Libertadores.

The Brazilian Cup

A disappointing 3rd round exit at hands of a lower league club.

Copa Sudamericana

After blowing everyone away in our group and then winning our first knockout game 8-1 on aggregate, confidence was high, however, a bitterly disappointing quarter final exit at the hands of Banfield from Argentina, brought us back down to Earth. Gutted.

Performances

After losing our best player for a paltry 11m we called upon Gustavo Lucas Rios from the youth team to fill the hole left in the heart of our defence, much to my surprise he was even better than the guy he replaced and is already a fans favourite and our player of the year.

Honourable mention goes to our 3rd wonderkid Luan Mancini who finished the season as our top scorer.

Youth preview and intake

Another golden generation promised, but when they arrived none had 5 star potential. The intake looked ok but any early assessments are generally pointless, anything can and does happen with their progression. 

Top prospect was Vinicius, who with his excellent jumping, bravery, positioning and tackling has the making of an excellent central defender.

I also picked out Valdo who already has 14 in finishing, first touch, flair and technique. Hopefully his unambitious personality doesn’t hinder his development too much.

Finances and upgrades

We can’t improve the club anymore and I’m studying for my continental pro licence, so we’ve effectively completed this part of the challenge.

2 players release clauses were disappointingly met for 33m combined; with 60m+ now in the bank we shouldn’t have any money worries going forward.

An very solid first season, mainly spent constructing and tweaking a tactic, getting some existing youngsters some game time, getting refused a coaching badge and bottling the play-offs. Having no scouting system to worry about, and a shorter league than I am used to in England, the season has absolutely flown by. Here's the intake:

Training this guy as a AML and trying to mentor that Low Determination.

However, we have 5 retiring first-team squad players and a backup striker out with a cruciate ligament injury, so some of these lads are gonna see plenty of football next year. I expect a season of regression and will settle for a top-half finish. Money is an issue too, we lost £600k this season.

Vikeologist's 2045/46 Folkestone Season Report

We missed out on our first final (Papa John Trophy) on penalties. We missed out on an FA Cup quarterfinal conceding a last minute goal.

I thought we’d secured promotion with 2 matches to go (albeit mathematically with a 25 goal difference advantage) only to realise before the final match that I must have missed a team who had a game in hand and we still needed a draw.

We then went a goal down, and I just felt sick. Then we scored twice and were about to win the division until conceding a last second equaliser. So Folkestone!!!

Still, we have been promoted to The Championship. Just one more promotion to go (hopefully). If we’d thrown promotion away, it would have broken me.

We sold one player this season for a huge amount (£13.5 million and possibly more) which means that we can afford a second straight year of training and youth facility upgrades.

Top Goalscorer – Dave Jackson 21b – 42

Dave was on fire the first half of the season finally coming into his own. 31 goals by Christmas. The second half was a bit of a let down, but still a good overall tally.

 

Highest Average Rating (minimum 10 matches played) – Dave Jackson 21b – 7.34

Could only really go to him, although our Mercenary goalie is our best player according to the coaches.

Michael Morgan is on 594, but about to hit 32, and with us moving up a division, he won’t catch my nephew up.

Jason is still an unemployed manager. It doesn’t look as though anyone’s going to offer him a 3^rd go at management. With a 29-28-29 record, he did alright in some tough jobs. I’m annoyed on his imaginary behalf.

I’d have really liked to break Fastbasher’s Bryan Pham Ba’s record of 472 in the Records thread. (if only to crow about it just to incite some of you with players far in excess of this to update my moribund Records thread). Gonna be honest, I've started to make it my mission to find any of my former players who came through my youth intakes who have become staff members and hire them for my backroom staff, just so I can let them grow and give them the platform they need to develop as they get their coaching badges.

There's something about it that's become very addicting.

Also, random question, but has anyone noticed that when their former player who gets disciplined for poor performances retires, they tend to have really good determination?

I think that those players might be really good as coaches too once they retire, which is an unexpected bonus, especially if they only start with National C Licences.

My best coach is someone who came through in my first intake; Graham Hudson 1c.  He had a tough spell as a manager. I hired him as a U18 coach, and he's just moved up to being a coach with the senior team because it's a waste having him coaching the kids, (plus he has a WWY attribute of 8).

It's not a fluke that the fined players have good determinations. Fining them drives up determination and work rate. In itself though, it doesn't make them good coaches. Ellis Andrews 2c is my Director of Football, because he's useless as a a coach. Useless as a DoF as well apart from the Resolute personality, but it's not like I let him do anything anyway.

In fact thanks to you, (and the increase in our reputation from promotion) I've just realised that there's a Model Citizen DoF and I've offered him the job. Ellis Andrews is pretty annoyed about his imminent sacking, so I've told him it's your fault.

When Rosso first arrived, he already had a National B licence, which probably didn't help his development, given that some of his areas needed improving.

Now Rosso's gotten a Continental Pro Licence, and while he's not amazing, he still contributes with 3.5 stars in training. It's not amazing, but I'm hoping that if he doesn't stick with me that he can find work at another club elsewhere.

While Fantozzi, who was my former captain wanted to be an assistant manager at first and doesn't have the best working with youngster attributes, I can see him improving a lot, especially given that he only started with a National C Licence.

It's also very interesting to see how much he has changed in the year that he's been working in my under 18s coach, I feel that I will be promoting to the older squads in the near future if he continues to develop as well as he currently is. He's already giving me 3 stars in training.

I've only had two of my former youth intake players becoming backroom members of staff so far, but I've found another 3 players, so I'm going to try and pick them up in the near future if I can.

Morpeth Town FC (England)
Season 1 - 2021/22

It has been a long time since I actually played this season, but from what I remember, this was a terrific season. We were very good, and our general quality showed throughout the season.

I am though very glad, that we were not promoted. The squad might have turned in a really good season now, but we would be out of our depth in the Vanarama National League with an aging squad with next to no youth prospects to take over. 

League (Results 1, Results 2, Results 3, Cups, League Chart) - A really strong season. And third round of the FA Cup. Unfortunately we did not draw a Premier League team to bolster our finances going forward. But still an unexpectedly good cup run.

Team (Details) - One of my main reasons for choosing Morpeth was the strong and experienced starting squad. You have already seen Jeff Henderson, Liam Noble and Liam Henderson. My topscorer was Jack Foalle.
I will also add Ben Sayer, who had a strong season in midfield together with Noble.

Facilities - I managed to upgrade the Junior Coaching to Good and Youth Recruitment to Average. This is decent facilities for this level.

Finances - Good finances for now. Still a positive balance. It is projected to change though, and I am planning to push our youth facilities as much as possible.

Youth Intake - A very good intake. Spanish Chema Ruiz looks like our next first choice goalkeeper. This is good as our current goalkeeper Dan Lowson can only play on for a couple of years. In defense Trevor McRoberts looks promising. Steve Jackson and Lee Stewart will man our midfield and Barry Smith and Bruce Jones will lead our attack.

No Transfers.

Goal for next season: An uneventful season with a midtable finish, where I can begin the process of preparing the youngster to take over from our current aging players.

Honestly shouldve gotten more but at least content I managed to get that 50% clause in there and the board didnt get involved

Season 2 - 2022/23

Another quite strong season and a 10th place finish. Though it is a bit worrying, but expected, that things are going backwards as my strongest players are getting quite old, and no youngsters are yet fully ready to take over. Though three of the youngsters from the first intake had mini breakthroughs already this season. This bodes well.

League (Results 1, Results 2, Results 3, Cups, League Chart) - Another good season. I am satisfied. And again had a strong FA Cup run reaching the second round were we were eliminated by Coventry.

Team (Details) - Strong season from the leading players. Liam Noble, Jeff Henderson and Liam Henderson all played well. However they are now 32, 31 and 33 respectively, so I expect to see diminishing quality from them going forward. It is time for the first youngsters to make their mark, and Chema Ruiz in goal, Lee Stewart in midfield and Barry Smith in attack look like the most likely candidates to takeover. They all had mini breakthroughs this season.

Facilities - I managed to upgrade the Junior Coaching to Excellent and Youth Recruitment to Good. Fantastic. I rate good intake facilities higher than economic stability, but that might come back to bite me, when the chairman starts selling my talents for peanuts.

Finances - Not too bad. But with the improved intake facilities they might deteriorate quickly.

Youth Intake - Another very good intake. Lots of five star potential players who are not quite ready for the first team. I like the looks of Glen Prudhoe and Matty Lewis.

No Transfers.

Goal for next season: Another midtable finish and further youngsters to break into the first team squad.

All confirmed reset dates are in the first post and will be updated whenever someone reports it. I can't see Greece of that list, so I guess no one has reported the reset date to @darren1983 yet. Feel free to do so if you try it and find out.

Don't be too hard on yourself. He will sell for big money when he is ready to depart for La Liga or the Premier League

FC Novokuznetsk - Season 2037/38 Review

We stayed up once more, but it was through the playoffs once again. We are still very far from being very competitive for a top position, but we are slowly improving. Now that we have started making money, I'm slowly getting improvements approved, so we are clearly moving forward as a club. In the end I'm happy with a 13th place, and after we beat Baltika Kaliningrad in the playoffs we were secured at least another season here.

In the Kubok Rossii we started in the 4th round group stage where we won our group ahead of Volgar Astrakhan and Murom to go trough. Then we lost to Dynamo Moscow in the 5th round.

Youth

Another very good preview for us.

A very good intake, so it seems like the improvements are really having an effect.

Vladimir Ivanov 38a is a very talented defender and will be part of the main squad from the outset.

U21s:

They finished rock bottom in the Russian U21 Division.

U18s:

In the RPD U18 Cup they qualified from their group. Then went all the way to the final, but unfortunately, they lost it to finish as runners up.
