[England National League - Level 5] Data Issues

Recommended Posts

Please post any data issues related to England's National League (Level 5) here.

As much of the data is subjective we’d ask that you respect everyone’s opinion and accept that the final decision is that of our club researchers and our heads of research.

We also request you please adhere to the following three point plan when posting in the data topics:

·        State what you think is specifically wrong with a particular piece of data.

·        State what you think the data should be.

·        State reasons/proof for your suggested corrections/improvements.

Please note that any non-data issues for England's National League (Level 5) should be posted in the appropriate thread within the League Specific Issues forum. This would include issues such as league scheduling, league table sorting rules and match rules.

Good evening,

Just a few things regarding King's Lynn Town.

Neil Fryatt has nothing to do with the club now.

Head of Youth Development/U23's Manager - Joe Simpson (UEFA B Qualified) DOB; 13/3/1996. £350 p/w

Player/Coach for U23's and U18's manager - Alex Walpole (FA Level 2) DOB; 11/08/1993 £50 p/w

Alex Brown and Ross Barrows are important first team players. Alex starts every week at left back and Ross is frequently in the starting 11. Sonny Carey is also not for loan and Sam Kelly is not transfer listed.

I did send some details across of U23 players to a Dean Gripton. I only sent them the other week so maybe they are in the process of being put in?

Hi,

Few bits on Chesterfield.

- Dave Allen isn't the owner anymore and Mike Warner isn't the Chairman. The official owner is the Chesterfield FC Community Trust with the Chairman being Mike Goodwin - source.  - https://chesterfield-fc.co.uk/commercial/support-continues-for-club-takeover-and-beyond

- Paul Lemon should be Chief Scout - https://chesterfield-fc.co.uk/club-news/new-chief-scout-appointed

- Luke Coddington should start the game injured although can't find a source for this, he hasn't featured yet this season though because of the injury.

- Nathan Tyson's pace should be higher, i know he's old but he's easily one of the fastest at the club. Again, no source but if you've watched Chesterfield this is fairly obvious.

- Albeit he's only made 1 appearance, i don't think Regan Hutchinson is a striker, came on to play central / attacking midfield versus Harrogate last year.

Other than this, really good work guys cheers.

Regarding Chesterfield, would love for the club vision to not be 'Reach playoff', as in the last few years we've finished 15th, 20th and currently sit 20th this year. Maybe avoid relegation/finish mid-table would be more realistic?

Would love for us to be good enough to be fighting for playoffs :(

Few issues with Hartlepool United staff and squad.

It’s missing Joe Grey, a 17 year old left-winger/striker who has featured in most games this season after signing professional terms before the season.

With the staff, Craig Hubbard and John Hewitson are no longer with the club.

Halifax

Once again, Phil Hughes is no longer the assistant manager and hasn't been for a good year now. Slightly concerning that this is still the case despite being flagged up during last year's beta. Chris Millington should be down as the assistant instead.

Stuart Peacock should not be down as a director, having resigned from the board in July 2019.

Matt McArdle should not be down as the club's physio, having left at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Joe Sargison should be down as a coach, having joined the club this pre-season (he is already in the database so no need to create him)

Goalkeeping coach Paul Oakes, fitness coach Adam Simpson and head of sports science Aaron Scholes are all missing.

Jacob Hanson is no longer at the club, having left today for Curzon Ashton (though I imagine this is just a case of the deal missing the data lock)

Danny Williams should be down as an accomplished at left back at the very least, having spent half of last season and all of this season so far playing there. To compensate, I would reduce his capability of playing as a central midfielder, as a central attacking midfielder or as a striker, positions that he is yet to play for us.

Jeff King should be down as an accomplished right back at the very least, having played in that position from January onwards. To compensate, his capability of playing central roles should be reduced having rarely (if at all) played there for the club.

Jamie Allen's appearances for Montserrat last season are missing.

  • Mike Povey left the club in the summer of 2019. Now at Salisbury

  • Club capacity is 3207, but seems to be shown in multiple places as 3600.

Missed out that Luke Williams and Aaron Cunningham are without squad numbers. Those should be 18 and 20 respectively. Williams is ‘out of contract’ however penned a new deal with the club around a fortnight ago.

Wow this is a tricky one to call. Such a big club spending a decent amount on wages.

Alfy Whittingham of Aldershot Town is listed as being on £425 p/w, similarly to the last FM I believe. This is incorrect, and there are multiple direct interviews saying so, most notably from the actual national league website. He actually plays for free, only claiming expenses.

https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/alfy-is-providing-the-shots-answers-with-a-very-sp-59951

'On Saturday he scored the winning goal against Notts County. But he isn’t getting paid a penny to play.' [...] "I’m just at the club for expenses, and I’m more than happy with that"

Bit of a weird one I guess, but in the interest of accuracy...

Hi @Harry_CFC& @TheUltimateSpireite

Cheers for the info lads, Ownership and board have been updated.

The other squad changes have been made prior to the BETA and will be ready for release.

Regarding the club vision, I think reaching the play offs is sufficient. A club of Chesterfield's reputation and facilities should be competing for a return a to the EFL.

Cheers,

Jake

Hi @aldershotsam386

Yeah, bit of a weird one this! I'll consult with our Aldershot researcher and clarify this. I'm sure if I was Whittingham then I'd go off somewhere else and get paid, if it's true.

Enjoy the game,

Jake

Hi @PTSColes,

Haven't seen anything about Pearson returning to Bristol C, can you supply some evidence for this please?

We don't do short term loans in FM research but thanks for the info, I'll keep it on file.

Ah if it's from the Handbook then it's probably correct. But i know when i was there in July, the capacity had been uppped to comply with regulations for the National league. I'm speaking to the press officer today to clarify

the other points and an updated staff list from a programme, as the website hasn't been updated since July 2019 for staff.

Hi Jake,

Some further bits that I've found which need changing for Hartlepool United. All sources can be found on HartlepoolUnited.co.uk.

  • Mark Maguire is listed as Chief Executive, he actually left the club in the summer and was replaced by Martin Jesper - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/club-statement/
  • Tom Crawford is listed as a free agent, signed for the club in the summer. He is even wearing the Club's new home shirt in his picture! - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/pools-sign-tom-crawford/
  • Lewis Cass, on loan from Newcastle United, is only listed as a central-defender. He is also a natural right-back, he has played there in every game this season barring one. He is more of a defending. full-back.
  • Tyler Magloire recently (06/11) signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers until January 2021, squad number 38 - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/pools-sign-tyler-magloire/
  • Ben Killip only listed as 6 foot 0, he's actually 6 foot 1 - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/player/ben-killip/
  • Brad Young listed as 6 foot 1, he's actually 6 foot 3 - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/player/brad-young/
  • Luke Williams listed as 6 foot 1, he's actually 5 foot 10. As mentioned yesterday, penned a new deal with the club and is No 18 - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/luke-williams-signs-new-contract/
  • Gavan Holohan listed as 5 foot 8, he's actually 5 foot 10 - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/player/gavan-holohan/
  • Club affilation with FC Lahti no longer exists, ended under a previous owner however no official confirmation. Link had never been utilised.
  • John Hewitson no longer at the club as Head of Youth Development - replaced by Ian McGuckin who is also but predominately U18 Manager.
  • Craig Hubbard no longer at the club as Fitness Coach - replaced by Jake Simpson who is Head of Strength & Conditioning - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/head-of-sports-science-appointed/
  • Ian Gallagher is the Club's new First Team Physio - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/buster-is-back/
  • Joe Grey is a 17 year old left-winger/striker who signed professional terms in the summer. Very highly regarded and has been involved in every matchday squad this season, number 12 for Pools. - https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/player/joe-grey/
  • Albeit out of loan to Blyth, Aaron Cunningham and Brad Young should be assigned squad numbers 20 and 31 respectively.
  • Ryan Johnson weight is listed as 77kg, it is actually 85kg.

Can confirm Pearson is back with the u23's, don't think an article was put out about his return but he is back and not playing for Weymouth. He has played the last 3 or 4 games for the u23's.

Hi  Jake,

A few things with Torquay United

1-Olaf Koszela & Louis Slough on loan at Dorchester and Matty Buse at Bath (only for 1 month though....I cant quite remember if you add 1 month loans in?)

2- Signed Billy Waters on "short-term contract"

3- "Super" Gary Johnson should be listed as favoured personal. Fans absolutely love him since taking over and he has saved the club from a real car crash

4- Eunan O'Kane is listed as favoured personal, however there is no link available on his name when hovering...this was the same in FM20. Can this be altered? He currently plays at Luton.

5- Competitive rivals with Woking?. This has been a recent thing since VNS days. The games have really spiced up since and both teams really love getting one past each other.

Cheers

Hi Jake,

Dagenham and Redbridge says they won the FA trophy in 1980, but this was the previous club Dagenham Football Club - so perhaps the merger should be mentioned in the history at the start.

Otherwise it appears the club formed in 1992, but won a trophy before they formed.

Cheers,

Mr. F Manager

Can't see this anywhere on the official site, or on any of the last 6 first team games. The club at the moment has 3 keepers

Harry Isted on loan from Luton, Grant Smith and Lewis Everett.

Hi Dan

I am the Torquay researcher and thanks for your comments.  I will let Jake confirm but:

1. Short-term loans are not included

2. Jake has details of Billy Waters but it was after the beta deadline. He will be in the full game

3. Agreed, I will speak to Jake about adding him

4. Not data, but sure Jake will deal with

5. Maybe. It was only really for one season when we stormed the league. Doubt it will last.  If it does then I will consider adding in future versions

Thanks for the feedback

Kevin

Whilst that was true last season (19/20) he is actually on a salary and proper contract this year. The salary is within a short range to how much he is actually on, based on age, experience and value within the team. Thanks for your comments though.

Hi Jake,

I can see that the Ryan Reynolds and Rob Elhenney take over has been picked up.

What I think may slip under the radar is that 1st video they posted. Its a clever move, its basically advertising their main sponsor. What they are saying is 'if you sponsor Wrexham, you'll be endorsed by Ryan and Rob'.

I'd expect a sizable increase in their sponsorship income.

To put it into perspective Ryan has 16.8 million twitter followers, Rob has 0.5m. Wrexham have 74k. Liverpool FC have 15.8m and Man Utd 23.7m.

Sponsors are paying, at that level, for exposure via TV (minimal),  matchday (5-7k maybe?) and people buying and wearing shirts (again fairly minimal). Now throw into that an endorsement from a celeb with a following larger than most premier league clubs. That has to make a significant difference and its no accident the first thing they did in the video was endorse the main sponsor.

It's possible, but possibly wouldn't be seen for a few months. Might be worth looking at for the spring update? Sponsor's vary across the league and exposure across socials etc but you would imagine's Wrexham's to be the highest in the league this season no doubt about that. Plus i read somewhere about a documentary on the club.
