The demo is the same as the full game, just restricted to max 6 months.

Ah cool well I'm going to give it a go on my current laptop and see how it goes! If it's terribly slow or something I'll probably be back for laptop recommendations haha, thanks a lot for the help buddy!!

Hey guys,

Looking to update my laptop with hopefully a bit of future proofing in mind for FM25. I've just seen this one on Currys, was just hoping for a bit of advice or recommendations!

or is that much difference between these two MSI's

Thanks

The only difference is the middle one has a better graphics card.  They all have the same CPU, RAM and SSD capacity, and the ASUS has a slightly larger display.

Any should be fine, but if you're happy to pay the full £700 then I would personally go with the middle one given we don't currently know what FM25's system requirements will be.

Looking at getting a laptop from very. Need it for fm24 & Not much else except normal google, social media. Any recommendations? Cheaper the better would be great but don’t want to need a new one again for fm next year. Obv don’t know what fm25 will need but one with a good chance of working would be good. If you're specifically looking at Very, this is the cheapest one I can see: https://www.very.co.uk/asus-tuf-gaming-f15-laptop-156in-fhd-144hznbspgeforce-rtx-2050nbspintel-core-i5nbsp16gb-ramnbsp512gbnbspssd/1600952500.prd

Gone for a gaming one given the uncertainty of what the system requirements will be.

Thanks for that. I’d checked with curry’s already, the assistant said this is the cheapest from there that would work for fm24 not even thinking about next years. If there’s a better option I can get it from anywhere.

Just an update to my previous post about my battery getting hammered.

I have a 'solution' for this problem. Went digging and basically bought a 25000 mAh USB C Power Delivery Power bank from INIU.

I tested this and its discharge rate was staggering, using its 25000 mAh capacity in 4.5 hours, 2 hours when playing FM.
I queried this with the manufacturer and they actually sent me another one for free.

My Lenovo laptop has a 'Conservative' Mode where the battery only charges to 80%. With this set i can use the power banks and basically never cycle the battery.
They take two hours to recharge so now i can in theory be always plugged in using the power banks. When one runs out, plugging the other one in and charging the expired one up in two hours.

I will cycle the laptop battery from 80% to 0% and then back to 80% once a month causing 24 cycles per year. This is MUCH better than the current 434 cycles from my first year of use.

Game changer for me. If you like your laptop in general but the battery life is poor or its degraded due to age, very good cost effective solution.
Hopefully it will help someone.

The assistant mislead you a little bit, as there are cheaper laptops there which will run FM24, however taking into account FM25 and that we don't know what the system requirements would be yet, these are the cheaper end of what I'd look at to be sure:

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-cyborg-15-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-3050-512-gb-ssd-10251897.html

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3268753?clickPR=plp:1:22

The one I'd linked originally should be fine as well, but these ones offer a better graphics card for only a little bit more.

I've been having some issues with my laptop running FM recently, it has been very buggy and generally really slow to process through the game. I do have all the face packs, real names, badges, etc.. loaded, but run very few Playable leagues and my game is still slow and sluggish. I can go quite far into saves which obviously will make it slower but even at the start of saves this year I'm having issues with game speed.

As a result, I was thinking about getting a new system to run the game on. I thought it may be best to get a gaming PC of some sort to enable to me to play it faster and to have far more leagues loaded than I'd be able to on a laptop, but if there's a laptop that would be just as good I'd be happy to get that either.

I'd be happy to spend somewhere around £1,000 if it would get my game to run the way I'd like it to. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations on what system might be best for me to purchase?

You haven't mentioned the spec of your current laptop, so it's hard to say whether you're seeing what should be expected or not.  But it is worth noting you can still get excellent performance on a laptop.

Here's one to consider: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/gigabyte-g6-16-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i7-rtx-4060-1-tb-ssd-10257149.html

Or, if you've decided you definitely want a desktop, then this looks like the best one for under £1000:

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-predator-orion-3000-po3650-gaming-pc-intel-core-i5-rtx-4060-1-tb-ssd-10253120.html

If you need to include a monitor/keyboard etc in the £1000 then I'd look at this:

I'm not massively surprised you're seeing the game being slow with that.  The 10th gen Intel laptop CPU's weren't great and the i3's were particularly poor.

You'd definitely see a significant increase between that and any of the computers I've linked above.  :)

Hi All. Happy New Year. Am hoping to dive into FM24 but think my laptop may not fancy the challenge does currently make a few groaning noises etc.. Budget as ever is tight (maybe 500-550) and a 10 year old probably has more knowledge than me on specs etc. Doesn't need to do alot else, general internet stuff, perhaps watch the occasional TV thing but just something as an all rounder might do

That's great! I think I've edge probably more toward a laptop rather than a desktop after all, apart from the one you mentioned above earlier is there any others you may suggest that where in my price range of around £1,000?

Is there also anything I'd have to keep in mind with FM 25 coming soon? Given it might need different stuff to run it than the current game I wouldn't want to be in the situation again next year of not having a laptop capable of running the game.

I linked the best one I could find at the price.  It has one of the better laptop CPUs currently available and a very strong graphics card.  Whilst we don't have system requirements for FM25 yet, SI would be aiming for much lower system specs than this as they will still want the game to run on as many computers as possible.  This is the sort of laptop that could easily run any AAA game currently available.

Im due a new laptop for fm I think. I've not really been looking yet, but this deal just came up on my Amazon. Ignoring the discount because we know those discount labels are a con, but it looks like a good deal, on a machine that should do a good job of running FM. Or am I missing something that the laptop is lacking?

Deal: MSI Crosshair 15 Inch FHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop - (Intel Core i7-12650H, Nvidia GeForce RTX4060, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Windows 11 Home) - Black https://amzn.eu/d/905UdXx

Definitely ok for FM24 with graphics at medium settings.  FM25 is currently an unknown when it comes to system requirements - it may be OK, or it may be that once FM25 comes around it'll need to be played with the 2D match engine.

It'll do a decent job.  You're right to disregard the discount but that is the right sort of price for that laptop spec!  There's another MSI laptop with basically the same spec at Currys for that same price, so it's definitely not a bad deal.

Hi all,

I do feel a bit daft asking this here but I am struggling to compare the system requirements on the FM page alongside how some laptops are advertised online. So, in the interests of educating myself ever so slightly - could someone give me a little advice on the below laptops and how they might manage with FM24? Ideally, I'd play 3 or 4 leagues in the background and a large player database. I'd just like the game to be quick enough to play comfortably - doesn't have to process at the speed of sound :)

Besides FM it'll just be used for very basic Office based tasks, Word, Powerpoint etc etc

Thank you massively in advance

1) Amazon Refurb #1 (assuming it works as advertised - I know you can't confirm that for me)

2) Amazon Refurb #2

3) As New #1

4) New #2

That's it - thank you again

1 and 2 are much older models, and aren't really ideal because of the older CPU and lower resolution display.

3 has a fairly decent CPU but only being 4GB RAM is far from ideal.  You'd also need to take WIndows out of S mode. but that's easy enough to do.

4 is one to simply avoid.  Terrible CPU.

One in the sort of price you're looking at which looks ok is this one: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/hp-laptop-14-dv2514sa-12th-generation-core-i3-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-bang-olufsen-speakers-14-ips-fhd-touchscreen

Although, if you are able to increase the budget at all your options will increase.

Hello,

Im looking at getting a laptop to play FM24 on, also with an eye on FM25.

I would ideally like to run a save in one nation, such as starting unemployed in England and working my way up the leagues. Whilst having a decently sized player database.

Would this laptop be sufficient for these requirements?

Yes, it will do the job for FM24.

For FM25, it's a lot harder to say as we don't yet know what the system requirements will be.  It's currently safer to assume a dedicated graphics card will be needed for 3D from FM25 onwards until we're told otherwise, but that will come with a fair amount of additional cost.   SI have confirmed FM25 will retain the 2D view though, so the game should definitely remain playable regardless.

Are there any laptops similar to this price range or slightly above which have a dedicated graphics card?

If the laptop runs fm24 well then I would also be willing to stay on that. Just want to make sure the laptop supports a decent database and a save that would go in for several years

On the basis that we don't know the FM25 system requirements yet, I'd say yes if you want to be playing matches in 3D.

I think I’ll go ahead and order the Lenova then whilst it’s on offer. Like I said, will only be used for FM and light entertainment so it should be okay.

Appreciate the help.

Hi all,

Looking for a new laptop for FM24, aside from FM it will only really be used for Netflix/Youtube and some basic sheets/docs for work. I've found this one on Argos - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3267651?clickPR=plp:1:20

My concerns are the 8GB of RAM and shared graphics card, especially with the changes coming in FM25.

There's also this option from Currys - https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-aspire-3-15.6-laptop-intel-core-i7-512-gb-ssd-silver-10251054.html

Open to suggestions, ideally would like to order from Argos as I have nectar points to spend but not the end of the world if it comes from elsewhere. Budget-wise I'd like to stay under £600.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

As we don't know the specs for FM25 yet, I'd say 8GB RAM is less of a concern than the lack of a dedicated graphics card, especially as RAM can generally be upgraded, but you can't add a graphics card to a laptop.

I'd suggest this one at the same sort of price: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3349809?clickPR=plp:1:35

Hello all, thoughts on this laptop? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196164338439?_ul=GB&var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338307747&toolid=10044&customid=CjwKCAiAqY6tBhAtEiwAHeRopbX2A5ZFLfXqstXtiFRtDGbRQiPvqSeZIvrhWThM1mUoGG9OQQWAHxoCyLwQAvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAADA7Q_LzzvdCMcyxDeXe6IYD4TSMo&gclid=CjwKCAiAqY6tBhAtEiwAHeRopbX2A5ZFLfXqstXtiFRtDGbRQiPvqSeZIvrhWThM1mUoGG9OQQWAHxoCyLwQAvD_BwE

Will be taking the laptop with me when I go backpacking next month for most of this year so portability and battery life is important, apart from FM it’ll be used for watching films/shows and general browsing, leaning towards buying refurbished over new and my budget is around 700 but can be stretched if needed. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

I'm considering a new laptop as I'm wanting to play FM with a beefy database (between 150-200k players) and I'm finding my current one is pretty choppy when watching games in 3D and slow processing at times.  Not too knowledgable when it comes to these things, but would I be able to find anything for £800 or less? I've included the specs of my current laptop for further info.

Will definitely be fine for FM24 with medium graphics settings.
