I see the most expensive version goes up to around £500.  If you're happy to spend that much, then I'd go with this one here and use the option to increase the RAM to 16GB:

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/msi-gaming-laptop-bravo-15-h-series-ryzen-5-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-amd-4gb-graphics-15-6-120hz-fhd-screen

The configuration I prefered came to £339. Which was 32gb 256mg I7 6th gen , but im a noob amd didn't know if that would work ok , or if the I9 was necessary,  or how would the acer aspire ypu posted compare .

I may be wrong but I've been looking for dedicated graphics 16gb as cheap as possible reasy lol , was the other ebay listing imposted no good

Years ago I knew my stuff now im just a noob so your advise is much appreciated

I'd avoid CPUs as old as a 6th gen i7 these days.  They were good when they came out, but that was 7 years ago.

Of the ones you posted, overall I would opt for this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155961060707?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=jsvozvhltky&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=VKoWg3E-QGy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Looking to get a laptop to replace my current desktop. Will be used for general day to day but the only game will be fm24. Looking for something should run fm25 at least ok too but I understand we don't know the required specs.

My current desktop has a ryzen 5 5600x and a rtx 3060. Looking for something with similar or better processing power but just something that should be at least ok graphics wise for fm25.

Budget is around £700 and willing to buy refurbished.

Any help?

How about this? Performance should be about the same as your desktop

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/lenovo-legion-5-amd-ryzen-7-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-nvidia-rtx-3070-15-6-fhd-screen-gaming-laptop-2

Or this? The processor should be more powerful but the graphics are weaker. They will be fine for FM24 but I would guess they won't be able to max out FM25

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/products/asus-laptop-vivobook-16x-12th-generation-h-series-core-i7-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-nvidia-rtx-3050-graphics-16-120hz-fhd-screen

Edit: in either case the battery life isn't going to be great and it will have deteriorated since the laptop was new. Plan to be playing plugged in

Thank you I detected a bit of a that might do tone so I continued to search and also decided that if I couldn't buy today, which I was hoping too    I would wait till after Christmas see what's in the sales and find a way to spend some more , but could you just advise if any of these would be more suitable in your opinion and I'll leave you in peace if not till after Christmas lol

Evening fellas,

thinking of getting the MacBook Pro 14” M3 (2023)… is it worth it for fm? Or should I save the money and get something else?

Afternoon boys,

not sure if anyone saw this message? looking to get new laptop before Christmas so can play it over Christmas.. how will the MacBook Pro 14” m3 (2023) run fm and what’s the graphics like on a MacBook? I’ve attached the link to the one I’m thinking of buying.. https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro/14-inch-m3

my worry is for the money I can get something a lot better? I’m looking at paying £1600 odd if I can get something cheaper that’ll be better for fm and for future fms then can someone ping me one over?

thanks in advance

I was gonna say I still would have gone for the one from the previous post, but that listing seems to have ended.  I honestly wouldn't go for any of those because they're all again using considerably older components and I'm not convinced they'll be great when it comes to FM25.

What is your actual budget?  I'll see what's around.

It's a double-edged thing.  The Apple M chips have proven to be very good and perform well on the FM benchmarking threads.  But, unless you specifically want/need a Mac for other reasons (ie, a lot of people absolutely swear by them for things like graphic design, video editing and music production), then you will always get more for your money with a Windows based machine.

For £1,300 you can get this: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/msi-katana-b13v-15.6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i9-rtx-4070-1-tb-ssd-10251890.html

It has one of the best CPU's currently available for laptops as well as an extremely capable graphics card.

This is the best one I can see around that price point: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176119471963?hash=item290189df5b:g:KNQAAOSwdv5lhCAv&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8GE7GM1WC71%2F2rUOxZXnFOBn91c0%2BE4emABZdws16zimTnVoX4ZWd4NJRe2MOfB%2FkAZZxeK%2BTEaQwtjBPMfWbyDvX%2BfvlQBuDoCP0s9W6uBJokDVXBuw6WEkqUNYmOb%2FmhHd1vHRDKJkbDVTetiedihhf49jfsZ4Wdt0hPXWGJ1Y2RC8zBmrSnAn1mA9M7mMdVbabnF0hwXqFZ00zSc5tkF6WlwUqprvZ8qS6k8pqwHm46ExWyLST2dLZtSnOlmB24bFkvCn3Wqt4liZlpaig7mIdRYXZxfPmnBQFvi0lWg6aNFL%2BVdGE7Kc2V9zGKNVEg%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7KWu5qSYw

Ty last question I promise when I was searching for cheaper I was offered this at 495 the listing has ended and it hasn't sold so as I have iped my budget do you think it's worth paying extra for

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145510107223

Comparing the two, I'd actually go for the cheaper one above as it has a better CPU.  This one here also doesn't clearly define what the graphics card is, so there's a question mark there.

But if you have increased your budget let me know what you're happy to pay and I'll have another look at what's around.

Thank you so much for your help I realy hope I'm not being too much of a pain , belive if or not I used to sell IT about 30 years ago , but I don't have a clue anymore all these different processors  gpus etc , when I started off my search I was just looking for the highest number intel and ram , now i realise all the different generations and im  completely flummoxed lol ,

That cheaper one only has 8gb ram , but im tempted!!!

I can't realy afford it but if a new laptop looked like a bargain in a sale on boxing day upto 600 id probably bite the bullet , better to be safe than buy something that won't work right ? and by passes not knowing what condition is open box , I saw box had a horizon that looked a good deal but I've also read some horror stories from ex customers .

Guessing spending the extra may  be the way to go with the hope it may also work for 25

Looking around, with a slightly higher budget, I'd go for this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235352322906?epid=9059137233&hash=item36cc17735a%3Ag%3APTsAAOSwY61lgt6H&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0Hlb0gW1PKi9g1lPoUkv4hbb9OKSm8Hk4Q6DH2CtaVLPaAp8kK8gtoy1eMUaa1or2JU1xg8qJSiynG%2FsvTTxYtFX2tbpKQvZjz5EyZNFPwRxQXw%2BtaegPSduPCEjpcXsYYFvdn8e6h2dnjvdQ91yhyLpGfy1Zo1gD%2BQqYJmYqLaJtobC0Yq2laVET1HOFK7uz1XaTpYLzWCJfwDOuNdouRok27F93PMANsQ3L9WXCw%2BcA%2FcPfrO%2BuGDRp7jQjZctytZ3%2BdcfdkZK3bTnQU2ahZA%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7qF0KCSYw&LH_ItemCondition=2000|2010

or:

The top one has the better and newer graphics card, and the bottom one has a better and newer CPU.  Both should be fine for your needs.  16GB RAM is desirable, however adding that into the mix pushes the price up considerably and purely for FM should see 8GB RAM still being OK, especially if you keep things running in the background to a minimum.  Also, RAM is one of the few things which can be upgraded on a laptop at a later date if you need to, so there's always the option of that later if you need to.

That Tuf is ideal ive read and watched many reviews on it and it seems like there flying out, only downside from the information I've seen is it has no webcam, on occasions I need to do video calls, I also looked briefly at the other one, I'll have a good look when.i get home  .

Once again ty for your help I may well purchase the second one after having a good look at it , otherwise I'll leave it till boxing day,  have a great Christmas I promise no more messages before lol.

You can always buy a USB webcam if you need, you can buy them fairly cheaply.  I used to use this one until I upgraded to a 1080p one for streaming: https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4034924?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=30f62ea9-9626-4cac-97c8-9ff3921f8558&istItemId=ixilaxpqx&istBid=t&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157|acid:534-693-8244|cid:20296143496|agid:|tid:|crid:|nw:x|rnd:15023599994707981430|dvc:c|adp:|mt:|loc:1006693&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20296143496&utm_term=4034924&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=534-693-8244&GPDP=true&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAhJWsBhAaEiwAmrNyq-_yD3y_N5MbET1N8ZHDbD9sYlJ2k9QmzPNdF4ncLlLZdYdM5EInBxoCxigQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hi,

Long time FM player and in need of a new laptop. Scot based in Canada and have a budget of around $1000, cheaper would of course be great. Will mostly be used for FM along with  general browsing, Spotify, Youtube, Google Docs etc. Looking to load a minimum of 14/15 leagues with probably half playable. I'd like to have team badges, player faces loaded too. Would prefer at least 14" display and no larger than 15.6". I've read past pages and noticed the necessity for 16GB RAM and preference of a dedicated graphics card to best prepare for FM25. Wondered if both are achievable at this price point? I'm not best regarding processors etc either, i5 minimum I've seen mentioned. Lenovo and MSI are the brands I've seen but open to any really.

I've found a few options from a company here and would appreciate a second opinion

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00127582 approx £475

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00124140 approx £563

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX00127364 approx £593

Appreciate any advice.

Cheers!

Seems like I've lied again when I said final messages,  I was about to buy the lenovo based on the.fact you said there was little to choose between the two as it was new and came across these two ,do ypu think they are worth the extra ? If not I'll just buy that one and thanks again

If I was to choose from the 4, I'd personally go with the Asus from Ebay that I posted previously.  Although either I misread it yesterday or they've revised the listing as it actually has a slightly better CPU than the other one.

All three are solid options.  The most expensive one is probably the best choice as it has the best CPU based on the benchmarks I've seen, but there's not a huge amount in it.

So. honestly if your preference is cheaper, I'd still happily recommend the cheapest of the three.

Hi guys,

Down to 2 laptops within my budget mostly to play FM24 and with a view to the changes for FM25 coming. Which would you recommend? Also ideally would like to have enough power to run downloaded graphics, face packs etc in the game. Thanks.

I would expect that having 8 rather than 16gb of RAM will be more of a handicap than having a 2050 rather than a 3050, so I'd personally choose the second one.

Hey guys would I be able to run fm24 on an acer aspire 3?

You'd need to post the actual spec of the computer.

If you're unsure how to do this, run dxdiag.exe and provide a screenshot of the screens which come up.

I'm looking for a new desktop in and around the £800-£900 mark that would be predominately used for FM24 and other less processor intensive tasks.

Has anyone come across anything around this budget?

How does this look fellas?

Kind of annoyingly, it doesn't give the CPU - it just says n/a by Processor!

So I can see the CPU, can you please open the Task Manager application, click on the "Performance" tab and show me the CPU model on that.

One thing I do notice it it's 4GB RAM and a 1366x768 display, which suggests to me it's an older model.  So, if it does run the game, I don't think it's going to be massively quick.  But I'll have a better idea once I can see what the CPU model is.

Yep, that's a really decent spec.  Will do the job nicely.

Hi it says it now not sure why it said n/a the first time! Let me know what you think!

It does meet the minimum requirements for the game, but it's going to be fairly slow and you'll need to use lower graphics presets.  I'd suggest downloading the demo to see how you find it.

I've had Asus ROG before, that's why I first thought of them. out of the 2 recs you posted, you'd go with the MSI? With RAM, 8, 16, or 32?

16GB is more than enough for most things, but the 32GB config does also have a 1TB SSD so if you think you may need the extra storage then it's a good option.  Otherwise I'd say the 16GB config is fine.

thank you. If I was able to put a couple hundred more in (to be around 1200ish, is there any other recommendations that would be better? Or would that bracket still be comparable to this MSI? Again, thank you! Hoping to get one ready for FM25 but I know the spec requirements will not be out for a while.

Apparently it can run really hot. Is there anything else you would recommend? Could probably stretch to £1.2k

Gaming PC's will pump out a fair amout of heat especially if playing more demanding games.  It's just the way things are.  Have you seen anything to suggest they're overheating?

Either way, here's another one to consider which is comparable in spec but actually cheaper.

This would be a decent uplift in performance.

Have you got a link mate?

I'm thinking of pushing out the boat to this nice DDR5 memory Overclockers build.

I've been playing the demo and it's actually surprisingly fast, but I dont know whether that's because it's the demo and when I play the full game with the leagues loaded etc it will be slower, not sure how it works. What do you reckon mate? I don't mind it being fairly slow as im used to that, I'm trying to avoid splashing out for a new laptop as I only really get to play it at the weekends so can't really justify it.

Looking to finally get back into FM now I have more time on my hands but my old hardware is going to struggle now to keep up with the game.

Ideally looking to not spend more than around £500 and will mostly look to use the laptop for FM and a bit of photo editing, watching Netflix and possibly dabbling in online games if time allows but that isn't a key factor in what laptop I get hold of.

Any recommendations or advice from those that have already purchased a device recently would be really helpful please.

Somewhat future proofing for FM25 and beyond would also be a bonus and I can move with the budget a bit if needed.

If I was to choose from the 4, I'd personally go with the Asus from Ebay that I posted previously.  Although either I misread it yesterday or they've revised the listing as it actually has a slightly better CPU than the other one.

Just back to say thanks for all your help , just pulled the trigger on a tuf f15

Link would help wouldn't it!!

There's very little in terms of CPU between that Overclockers one and the one I've posted here, so not sure it's worth the extra money it's going to cost.

The demo is the same as the full game, just restricted to max 6 months.

We can't say how it will be for FM25 as there's no indication of system requirements yet.
