Are any of these any use?

Looking at Q&As it mentions the Acer one won't work due to Windows 11 in S Mode which goes way over my head

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4844509?syte_ref=discovery_button

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9559466?clickSR=slp:term:laptops:8:71:1

You can switch Windows out of S mode by following the steps here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/switching-out-of-s-mode-in-windows-4f56d9be-99ec-6983-119f-031bfb28a307

But, from those three, the first one is the one to go for. Avoid the other two.

Hi Guys

Looking for a laptop for FM22  (and for basic work i.e. emails, using MS Office, Word Excel etc)

Most important for me is highest graphics to watch the 3D match engine in best possible highest quality. I have used an old HP pavilion up until now still in a career on FM20 and never experienced the full 3d match engine capabilities of the game :(

Budget is up to £1000.

Could someone please advise?

I read on a facebook group post that Asus and Lenovo Legion 5 are one of the best to run FM on

Thank you so much in advance.

This looks an excellent deal - excellent CPU, very strong graphics card, with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD: https://www.box.co.uk/NH.QEWEK.001-Acer-Nitro-5-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM-1TB-_4084896.html

Kev, thanks so much but im trying to stay away from Acer. Had a bad experience with them a while back. Any other brands you would recommend buddy?

Would you recommend this one? https://www.box.co.uk/82JM000QUK-Lenovo-Legion-5-Intel-Core-i5-8GB-RAM-51_3638077.html

or the i7 version for an extra £50 https://www.box.co.uk/82JH001QUK-Lenovo-Legion-5-Intel-Core-i7-8GB-RAM-51_3813339.html

At the sort of price you're looking at, I'd be wanting to look at models with 16GB RAM.

Here's another suggestion: https://www.box.co.uk/82JH001FUK-Lenovo-Legion-5-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM-5_3777043.html

If I am not running any background apps - wouldn't 8GB Ram be enough?  I normally only run FM when playing.  Sorry to ask so many questions - would this be the cheapest option with highest graphics on FM22 enabled?  Maybe I was aiming too high with £1000 budget lol.

8GB is technically enough, but you never know what may change with system requirements

There are cheaper alternatives - I was just going for what would give the best performance within the budget you gave.

If you'd prefer to spend a bit less, this is a very good option: https://www.box.co.uk/30033536-Medion-Erazer-Deputy-P25-AMD-Ryzen-5-16G_4098856.html

Hey, I think you are right. I will go for the 16GB Ram ... I would want to invest in a laptop that will last me at least a few good years. Will go for the Lenovo Legion 5  i7... 16GB Ram. Thanks bro.

Hello,

I am looking at a 2 in 1 laptop because I would like to use it for general use & work purposes, I like the fact they can be used on the go in a tablet mode so I was just wondering if this would be ok running it? https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/laptops/inspiron-14-2-in-1/spd/inspiron-14-5410-2-in-1-laptop/cn54311sc11?gacd=9685798-5004-5761040-270826046-0&dgc=ST&gclid=CjwKCAjwkYGVBhArEiwA4sZLuK6j8yyq9qfiiNoPYRBWynknrfljjCjh17cfznONvt7Bu8UBzs4svhoC0tEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&nclid=ojPZZMsjRApFQtPVgrBLN0F2FlpzlKryVO7xK0g650m-prTQnFaXZWmyWEqt1-wLCGRkk7TfzYJBKIGP9ulti_yojAypHR-h2SBFoq3wnCTZW67dD4wBD4spxnP1VH5L

I want to run the full version (not the tablet version) on it and was just curious if I could, I want to be able to add logos etc in and run it with decent speed and no lag in 3D mode. I was just wondering if this would be compatible.

Look forward to the response. Thank you!

Yes, that'll be fine. You may have to turn the graphics settings down from the highest, but the iGPU with that it should handle the 3D graphics in FM at medium to high settings.

Hi guys. Looking for a new laptop to mainly run fm22 on. Looking at around £600-£650 or cheaper if a better model. Not too bothered about the best graphics, I play using dots anyway.

My current laptop is not the fastest with running 5 leagues with about 20k players database which usually give 1 or 2 star for processing speed on the league choice menu page. Any improvement on this will be a bonus.

I have found these so far which would be the best or do you know of any better options?

I’ve always been carefull when setting up my save in terms of leagues loaded because i was afraid it would slow down my game much. But it’s actually pretty mad how my budget laptop cuts like a knife through butter handling my 30 leagues loaded 100k player database. It simmed a full season in around an hour and a half. Very pleased with this.

I think that max boost clock up till 4.0ghz comes in pretty handy when processing match days and transfer windows tho

You call it a budget laptop, and it may well have been relatively inexpensive, but it has a 5th generation Ryzen 5 processor in it, so it's going to be pretty capable.

Hmm yeah the term budget comes from the fact it costed me 600 half a year ago, so it’s a pretty relative term. I guess the specs are fairly decent for playing a well balanced and immersive savegame

The battery life is based on very specific conditions, and is unlikely to be replicated in real usage.

However, there could be all manner of things which affect the battery life - including battery capacity.

Spec wise, both laptops are effectively identical.

Kev, will that graphics card "Integrated Intel® Iris Xe graphics" even be suitable for max 3d smooth match engine performance?

May not be able to do max settings, but it will easily handle medium to high, and to be honest there's not much discernable difference between medium and the highest settings.

Hi there,

So glad for this forum!

I currently have a i5 8th gen (UHD graphic) and while it runs pretty well, the 3d match engine is fairly poor (1* rating)

I'm looking at a upgrade, medium settings 3D would be great, kinda wondering what the star rating would be with a ...
AMD Ryzen 5-5500U, 8GB RAM DDR4 3200MHZ (upgradable) , 512GB SSD

https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Vivobook-5-5500U-Backlit-Keyboard/dp/B09GKK4RTH/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2XVMGLNJ42IP8&keywords=asus+oled&qid=1654951204&sprefix=asus+oled%2Caps%2C90&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzTlZZTzlQMlpLQVVYJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzEzMTE1MzZCRjdGVFVTOFQ3NyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDc2NjY5MTdVRjcwVENZMlVaTyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Anyone got this CPU (APU)? if so how does it play? or any thoughts from others?

Thanks so much,
Luke

It's a decent CPU, would be a definite upgrade on an 8th gen i5 and will manage medium on the 3D match graphics with ease.

I'm looking for a desktop that can comfortably run FM with several leagues/100,000 plus db and for general office based work use.

Ideally I want something quick that is going to last me a good few years.

My budget is around 2k. Is this possible?

If you don't know of anything to hand, would you be able to give me some specific pointers as to what spec I would be needing?

Ideally, I don't want a gaming style tower with flash lights etc but something more professional.

Any help much appreciated. Thank you!

This should do the job.  Just about the best CPU you can currently get, excellent graphics card in case you want to look at other games aside from FM.

You could save a bit of money by going for a lower spec graphics card though, as this is absolute overkill on that front purely for FM:

Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a new laptop as my old dell is really struggling to play fm22. I have a budget of £800 and would like a laptop that can handle quite a few leagues and some longer term saves. If it can handle the 3d match engine that would be a nice bonus but of not then I am fine with sticking to the 2d. I'm in England if they helps

Hi Kev, really appreciate you taking the time to do this, so thank you.

So, everything you have selected there will work fine (fans etc) ?

I might take a plunge on this, is this cheaper than buying a 'pre-designed' (I don't know the correct term!) desktop PC that you'd see in online stores? I know very little about this stuff, hence the questions! Cheers again.

Most of the PC's I can find with that CPU are over £2,500, but they do tend to include the RTX 3080 or 3090 graphics card and 32GB RAM, so the spec is a bit higher.

The fan selected in the build is rated for the power of the CPU - the PC specialist building tool is really good as it tells you if the fans selected are not suitable for the CPU, or if there's any other issue with compatibility between any of the components selected.

Go for the Lenovo (third link).  Avoid the rest.

May not handle max 3D settings, but will be good for medium to high.

Found this as the only 16GB RAM laptop under £600 - is this a good deal or is there a reason for that?

https://www.box.co.uk/NX.ABNEK.005-Acer-Swift-3-Intel-Core-i5-16GB-RAM-512G_4084941.html

It's the best one I can find with 16GB RAM - it seems a bit of a premium is still being charged to get that much RAM in a laptop.

It's running on integrated graphics, but if you don't mind the 3D settings being put down a notch it'll be fine.  If you want to play other modern games, you'll probably need to look at spending a bit more to get one with a dedicated graphics card.
