Thanks mate, I don’t do 3D work so this looks a good one to consider. Thanks for your time 👍

I don't think you'll get a better processor/graphics card for that price.

Just took another look there.

It's definitely worth considering the processor and graphics card.

Black Friday soon - then Christmas Sales - so if you can wait we can look then.

Hi guys and girls,

I am in the process of building a new pc and had a few questions about what I should be focussing on for components?

I know that FM isn’t taxing on graphics so that is fine, but I have the following questions:

- For a CPU: Do I need a high clock speed or more cores/threads?

- Does the amount of RAM or the speed of the matter the most?

Could anyone who’s ITK about this specifically for FM that would be great.

I want the new PC to be as good as possible for running FM, game processing speed etc.

Thanks in advance,

Best budget buy please guys?

I'm looking for a bare minimum laptop. It will only be used for FM, word and browsing.

I have have desktop but as it is in the bedroom I'm not getting much FM time in. I'm usually awake first so a laptop would give me some morning FM time.

It's a luxury purchase though so it needs to be bargain basement. Not opposed to refurbished or similar.

Minimum leagues, I'd say 5-10 absolute maximum and I play on 2D graphics. I don't want to state a budget because it's honestly the cheaper the better.

CPU - these days, generally more cores/threads are more beneficial than pure clock speed.  But again, if you have specifics CPUs in mind, you can always post what you're looking at and we can help you choose.

RAM - both are important to a degree.  But purely for FM, I would go for 8GB of fast RAM over 16GB of slow RAM.  And always make sure to go for dual channel RAM (ie, if you want 16GB get 2x 8GB sticks rather than 1 x16GB) as this will maximise system performance.

Hi, out of the two following links which would you decide on? Both have almost identical specs and was pretty set on the Dell but have now seen the HP Omen within my budget and could do with some advice. I want to play with a high 3d level if possible. Thanks

As you've stated, both are identical specs wise.  So go for whichever one you like - check reviews for both, or maybe decide which one you like the look of most.

There's plenty of laptops on places like laptops direct for £120 - £150 I'd love for one of those to be good enough to play the game.

Honestly..... they're not.

They're mostly either Chromebooks (which aren't compatible with FM full stop), or machines with Intel Celeron processors which if they do run the game, they will do so very slowly (I've seen one of these in action, and it struggles with HD video on Youtube so I can't imagine FM being anywhere near acceptable on it).

The cheapest I can find which I can give any kind of recommendation to is this: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/ac151dx/

You'll likely need to turn 3D settings right down on it, or maybe play in 2D, but it will run the game.

Hi guys Im just looking for any ones experience of playing fm22 on a MacBook. I usually play the FM touch on my iPad but now they aren't bringing out that edition so I'm thinking of playing on my MacBook, rather than the mobile edition.

When I have previously used fm on my MacBook Pro I have found that the battery drains very quickly. Often going from 100% to nothing in around half an hour. Also I find that the fans start working overtime and it starts heating up sometimes turning itself off to avoid overheating.

How are people finding it this year? and is there anything I can change in my settings to avoid these issues? Thanks

What are your MacBook Pro specs? This will dictate if your system can handle FM22

That will handle the game - can't really comment on the battery drain issue as all manner of things could be causing that.

My best suggestion would be to download the demo once it's available and see how you find it.

Those don't make sense. It's either an i5 or an i7.

It can't  be both.

Can you press the Apple symbol and click on About System and post a screenshot?

Thanks guys I wanted an honest opinion. I might wait for that one to come back in stock. Bit gutting as I only want it to be a toy and not sure I can justify £250 on it.

I was hoping with them being refurbished they'd be better than the price suggested.

Evening , just in the process of looking for a new laptop for the new FM22 . I will be using the laptop for FM only and a bit of work stuff but nothing that requires specific requirements, came across this on Currys , just wondering what I could expect regarding FM on it . Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at this,

https://www.box.co.uk/82EH001VUK-Lenovo-Legion-C7-Intel-Core-i7-32GB-RAM-_2943319.html

I would only play FM22 on this with a large database, with around 15 playable leagues and a long career. Also looking to put a lower league database and graphics into the game.

Would anybody recommend this laptop or are there any better upto the same price range.

Appreciate any help.

Good evening,

looking for a laptop, with the FM being the sole purpose for the purchase and I’m totally ignorant with all of the Ram, SSD and GB talk!

Ideally I’d want to spend up to £500 but could stretch that up to £800 if it makes a huge difference in performance.

I generally do a lower league management save in the England pyramid starting from the bottom and taking over the world. I do like having other top European leagues as playable too else the game gets stale in the future.

Are there also any vendors to be wary of?
Do I need to bother with extended warranty or any of those extras they always offer?

much appreciated!

It'll be decent.  Capable processor and should manage 3D match graphics at medium or high settings as the integrated graphics are decent on it.

You'll find good and bad reviews for all.

Up to you.  Check the terms - without it, you'll have 12 month warranty and that's it.  Manufacturer warranty also only covers breakdown and not accidental damage.

It's definitely an upgrade - better CPU and larger screen.

The other one is definitely still very capable though so up to you whether you're happy spending the extra. :)

Just started playing Xbox version and loving it however Xbox is not very portable when visiting girlfriend so definitely looking at buying a laptop. I was debating about using it for other games but I only want it for football manager and maybe watch Netflix and other tv programs

I am running 10 nations with all the leagues on Xbox and medium database so would like maximum database and all the leagues from around 15 nations. I was thinking can I get a laptop that will give good match engine as I’m enjoying it on Xbox and give me maximum database and that many leagues from nations for around £700 or would I be looking more at around 1k? Does screen quality make a big difference for football manager and viewing Netflix etc?
thank you I’m advance for your help. I was hoping of buying one before weekend of wait on Black Friday deals to appear. As I say it’s just for football manager, social media, web browsing etc

Hi. I bought a Dell Inspiron 2 in 1 laptop.

I assumed my spec would be ok for a quality experience, however, my laptop constantly has fans going mental and reaches 95 degrees in heat. Any tips or advice? I have already tried adjusting battery settings to 50%.

my specs are:

Amd ryzen 7, windows 10, integrated AMD graphics (vega 8 I think) 16gb ram

thanks

FM can push processors quite hard.  Maybe try buying a laptop cooling pad and see if that helps things.

Im guessing this is an overkill for football manager. Only considered this because of the screen. I would like 16gb ram

Nope, 8GB RAM is still fine for FM.

But, if you want 16GB RAM, there's this for £800: https://www.box.co.uk/G5-GD-51UK123SH-Gigabyte-G5-Intel-Core-i5-16GB-RAM-512GB_3947138.html

In terms of whether the first one is overkill, you are getting a top of the range CPU and the 17.3" screen.  If you do want the larger screen, this is £100 less - the CPU isn't quite as strong, but it is still excellent and within the original max budget you stated.

Thank you that does look decent. I could spend more pay monthly as my mobile phone contract is up or buy now pay it later just don't think it’s worth buying an expensive laptop just for football manager and watching you tube and Netflix. What would your advice be? Is 8GB enough to run 14 nations with all leagues for a few years yet and windows11? If wanted laptop so can take it to girlfriend house for weekend play football manager and playing it at home while watching tv how much would you spend to have the best experience of the game meaning largest database and all the leagues at top European countries with Brazil and Argentina on top

I don’t want to save £100 then find in a year i wish I had spent the £100 more but at same time don’t want to pay more than I need to as I have both consoles if that makes sense. Thank you for your help and advice appreciate it

Not sure on the Windows 11 thing - it's still very new and info isn't that easy to get on what difference it makes.

The one at £1,000 is still an excellent choice and in all likelihood there won't be a huge difference between that and the one at £1,100,  But, up to you as to which route you go.  Neither should let you down.

How would this perform with the latest game and what would be a recommended set up?

Spec wise it would be fine - I'd ask what the price is to make sure it's a good deal.

In terms of recommended game setup - entirely up to you.  As per the OP we can't comment on this as we don't know what your expectations are in terms of game speed.

Upgrading the RAM is the easiest part. And least expensive.

In fact, there's nothing else you can upgrade in the laptop. The processor is set, the graphics card will be set.

The SSD can be changed.

In terms of where to put the money, into the Processor first and foremost, and then the GPU.

A balance of them.

RAM - minimum 8gb - you can upgrade to 16 later on - 32 is not going to help that much more than 16.

SSD - fast boot times and overall operational procedures for the OS.

Thank you might order myself the 17" in one of the earlier posts for £1000. £700 or £1000 isn't much difference in price but seem to get a lot more for your money and even if it's just for football manager and watching videos it will still give me future proof. I don't think any of the battery will last long when using dedicated gpu

I saw the laptop I'm referring to has over 100dpi I thought it sounded poor compared to my phone but apparently its quite good for a laptop screen after googling it. Thank you for all your help I appreciate it.

I know I could play the game on xbox but its nice to play while watching TV and nice that's its portable so can take to girlfirend or on long coach trips once when I go football again next season. I will just need something to charge the laptop or get another battery

I don't imagine there are too many deals out there including a monitor of that size, so I'm guessing you'll probably need to look at the PC and monitor separately.

Also, look into whether monitors include speakers for sound from the PS5, and if they do check out the reviews for them.  My monitor does have a speaker, but it may as well not do as it's absolute tosh - almost inaudibly quiet and terrible sound quality so I end up using separate speakers anyway,

I'm back. Looking at this one because the above is out of stock.

Seems to be the same 8gb of RAM and an Intel i5 2.2 processor. Integrated graphics but as mentioned I play 2D anyway. Thoughts?

I don't think you'll find better for that kind of price.

Just took another look there.

It's definitely worth considering the processor and graphics card.

Black Friday soon - then Christmas Sales - so if you can wait we can look then.

Had another look about. Is the £400 price difference between this

https://www.box.co.uk/G513QM-HN106T-ASUS-ROG-STRIX-G15-AMD-Ryzen-9-16GB-RAM-_3569894.html

And this, worth paying?

I am mainly after a bit more storage for graphics work and music storage. Presumably the ram is upgradable on either of these?

thanks again for your help

Both CPUs score quite closely, so there's not a huge amount of difference between the two on that score.

This would kind of be a compromise between the two: https://www.box.co.uk/FX506HM-HN014T-ASUS-TUF-GAMING-F15-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-R_3627481.html

The CPU scores very closely to the others, whilst retaining the 16GB RAM and the 1TB SSD and is priced between the other two models.

As to whether the RAM is upgradeable, you'd need to look into that more closely - in theory, yes, but sometimes RAM will be soldered to the motherboard and therefore not upgradeable, but I think this tends to be more of a thing in much cheaper laptops as opposed to higher end ones like these.

I'm looking at the Asus one myself. It would be the one I'd go for.
