Out of interest what makes it the better laptop between the 2.

I was just about to buy the lenovo of Argos, but may get this instead.

It is a stronger CPU.

Both are good, but that ones a bit better.

So, basically my laptop is dying before my eyes and even my girlfriend wants me to buy a new one. I guess I've a budget of €500 and I also have utterly no clue of laptops. I basically use my current laptop to play FM (always with dots I'm a dots guy) and Fire Pro (minimum system requirements Intel(R) Core(TM) i5, 4 GB RAM, DirectX 9.0c compatible video card with minimum 512MB of VRAM) and watch some YT. Nothing special. Never really cared about my laptops tbh but this time I would like to ask you guys, simply because you know a lot more than I do.

With the information provided on the first page, I've already searched a bit for myself and stumbled over this laptop
https://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_hp-15s-eq1351ng-2664313.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PLA+-+bluePortal+4+Smart&gclid=CjwKCAiAgc-ABhA7EiwAjev-j0xyrgofDmuMtDRqeHAQFO7HGnNKOaRsUn3JkZ0xKF65QCsDVYVpOhoCwrMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Don't know if it's any good and I would be very grateful for a quick evaluation and any further suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, that will do the job.  I have a weaker variant of the Ryzen 5 in my laptop and that handles both FM21 and Fire Pro Wrestling World.  Good price for this too, based on Euro to £ to conversion.  Snap it up.

Okay ,

I am looking to finally purchase a new laptop this weekend. I was previously leaning towards the lenovo L340 but have now ruled this out.

Was thinking this as it has been recommended on here at £650

however,
I have saw this too at £650

And then this which is a bit cheaper at £530

Nope, that's weaker than the last one.

Thanks for the reply.

This one seems to review much better than the other. Is this sufficient to run the game with graphics?

ASUS VIVOBOOK K542-uf-dm219t

  • Intel Core i5-8250U 1.6GHz
  • 8GB RAM + 374 SSD
  • 15.6 Full HD
  • NVIDIA GF MX130

That one is still going to be a risk as the base clock speed is below the minimum suggested by FM.

What is your budget?

Based completely on the GHz clock speed but I don't have the knowledge to make a decision alone.

Thoughts? I really don't have a clue when it comes to computer specs as I'm not really a PC gamer, FM is the only thing I touch on my laptop, but have found that to have a decent sized database and fairly fast play I need to play touch, which just isn't doing it for me, feel like somethings missing.

Feel like I need to upgrade to get back to full fat FM with a nice database, but not wait an hour every time I hit continue.

Thanks Kev. Budget was around £300 second hand. I've picked up the below for £250 and will upgrade the ram to 16GB. Not the highest specs but I read the Ryzen chips seem to get better reviews for games and it seems to be running the game quite comfortably at the moment.

Hi guys,

I was previously advised to go for the following:

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G 15.6" Full HD GTX 1660Ti Max-Q Laptop15.6" ASUS ROG Zephyrus G, GA502IU-AL014T, FHD, IPS, 144Hz, Ryzen 7, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, GTX 1660Ti Max-Q, Win10 Home

However, this was out of stock on both SCAN and Box.

I have found the following, however:

MSI GL65 Leopard 15" i7 RTX 2060 Gaming Laptop 15.6" MSI GL65 Leopard 10SER-460UK, 144Hz FHD, i7 10750H, 16GB DDR4, 512GB NVMe, 6GB RTX 2060, USB 3.2 Gen2, Win10 Home

EDIT: https://www.box.co.uk/1L6F7EAABU-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-15-ec1009na_2958259.html - found this one too. Could someone please let me know which one would be better?

Could someone please let me know if this will be sufficient enough for the way i play FM (Level 11 English leagues Loaded)?

Thanks in advance

That's the stronger of the two.  Seems to be the same spec as the original one recommended as far as I can tell.

Hey Guys,

I was on last week and seems every laptop I look at is sold out.

Hope this isn't a big ask but any recommendations for a laptop priced between €500-700 in Ireland?

Thanks!

Can you give me some examples of stores you can buy from in Ireland?  Of the ones I know of, there's not a lot to recommend currently in the price range.

I would probably look to buy off Currys, DID, Power City or Harvey Norman.

I am not sure about Laptop direct or littlewoods but if you think they are reputable please let me know as I've never bought of them before.

Thanks for all the help!

Wow.... the Power City website is one of the most cumbersome websites I've ever seen.

Littlewoods and Laptops Direct are both fine.

If this is available in your area, I'd go for this: https://www.currys.ie/ieen/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-15s-eq1510sa-15-6-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-256-gb-ssd-silver-10207935-pdt.html

Otherwise, this: https://www.currys.ie/ieen/computing/laptops/laptops/acer-aspire-5-a515-44-15-6-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-512-gb-ssd-black-10208163-pdt.html (or just this if 256GB storage is too small).

Also I think the person who did Power City's website was on something while making it!!

Hi guys,

I have a budget of ~£500. Will only really use the laptop for FM.

I use 2D so graphics aren’t an issue for me. I do like to play with a large database, a fair few (30ish) leagues loaded and take the save well into the future. I understand that this combo will mean I have longer continue times, I’m used to playing at a slower pace. Just want to make sure I’m getting a laptop that can actually run a save like that reasonably well.

I can see you’ve recommended the laptop linked below to a few people, is this probably my best bet as well?

Hello,

thank you for all of the advice posted. I’m after some help too please. I’m looking to get a new laptop as I dropped and broke my old MacBook Pro. I’m not attached to Apple (got it on a good deal through work on a salary sacrifice scheme before the government clamped down on them)

I’m looking at a budget of up to 900 but can go a little higher Or lower if there’s a compelling reason too! I’m looking for a laptop that will last several years and will use it mainly for playing FM and general use (internet browsing etc...) I’m based in the UK.

Are you able to provide me with a recommendation please?

Many thanks

Alex

I'd be wary.  That's a "too good to be true" price from a website with zero Trustpilot reviews!  Can't say I've heard of them, but they could be genuine.

If you do get it though, I'd be interested to hear how it pans out.

Hi Guys,

Been researching for a couple of days now, budget is ideally £650 or less but I could stretch a bit further it it's a significant upgrade. I made the mistake a couple of years ago of buying a Chromebook, leaving me with an old laptop to run FM very poorly, so it's time for an upgrade.

From my time browsing I've narrowed it down to:

https://www.box.co.uk/30029419-Medion-Erazer-E10_3201866.html

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gaming/pc-gaming/gaming-laptops/acer-nitro-5-an515-54-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-gtx-1650-256-gb-ssd-10205925-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR

I have very little idea with what I'm doing regarding computers, so I'd appreciate a recommendation out of these four, or if there's one you know of that's better value in the budget then I'd be happy to listen. Thanks!

Looking for a desktop PC. Only game I will play is FM and I like to play with lots of players/leagues loaded so a fast processor is important. I like to play in 3D but with me not really playing other games, the graphics aren't as important I guess? 16GB RAM would be nice. My previous laptop tended to be quite loud, so hopefully the PC will run quieter.

I'm assuming you'd get more from a desktop compared to a similarly priced laptop. Not had a desktop for years so not really sure where to look and whether to buy a pre-built or custom one. Just looking for some pointers on what's the best out there really. Budget would be about £650ish but could push a bit more if it was worth it or a good deal.

It's hard to quantify what a fair price to pay is.  What's it being listed for?

In terms of the spec, the CPU is OK by current standards.  Not amazing, but will still hold up reasonably well for FM.  The GTX 1070, although a few years old, is still a very capable graphics card.  I was slightly concerned to begin with that it only shows 4GB VRAM as the 1070 has 8GB, but looking around it seems to be an long standing issue with Windows that it only shows it as 4GB incorrectly.

One thing you may want to do if you get it is upgrade the RAM for faster RAM sticks, as it the RAM speed clocked at just over 1000MHz may be a limiting factor in the performance to a degree - the motherboard can take up to 2133MHz RAM and that won't be a massively expensive upgrade.

Budget: £600 could maybe stretch to £700 max

Laptop Use: FM, Youtube & Writing Football Reports Including using saved footage

FM: Usually Run Medium Database & Would Like To Run Around 20 Leagues comfortably

If this is not realistic let me know of a laptop that would be better as i could always save up for a slightly better one

Thanks

Hello..

Anyone knows if I can run FM21 in Microsoft Surface 6, with Core I7, 16 GB ram, but with a shared video card as Intel UHD GRAPHICS 620 model?? Is this machine good enough to run 3d matches or just 2d?

Thanks

The CPU has a base clock speed below the minimum recommended by SI.  It will run the game, but it's very hard to say how it will actually perform.

In terms of graphics, I imagine the 3D will need to be at lower settings.

If you already own the computer, I suggest downloading the demo and seeing how you find it.  If you don't already own it, I suggest purchasing something else as in my humble opinion the Surface computers are massively overpriced for what they are.
