Thanks alot Kev.

I've narrowed it down to ryzen 7 3700x or 5800x

And either the 2060 super or the 3070. Quite a variance in different pricing. I knownits horses for courses but what would you probably go for?

I think really it depends on what other games you're thinking of playing.

I mean if money was no object, I'd obviously go for the 5800x paired with the 3070.  But obviously, the budget has to be taken into consideration together with what your plans are for the computer.

Very undecided between these 3 at the moment.

I want the best processor possible but would ideally like a dedicated graphics card, although some have said with certain processors integrated graphics are good enough.
Would love to hear someone more knowledgeable’s opinion.

Overall, I'd go for this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0877LFKR2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_RXGJMC8658S4PGMVEY5W?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

The CPU in this actually rates slightly lower than the Ryzen 7 4700U in the second one from Box, but they do score very similarly and the i5 here has a higher TDP meaning less likelihood of thermal throttling.  Plus for an extra £50 you're getting a dedicated graphics card which is going to give you far more flexibility if you want to play games aside from FM.

Mainly FM. Probably play some fifa and other games, potentially a GTA here and there.

In all honesty then, the 2060 is going to be absolutely fine based on the current FIFA and GTA games.

Hi all i had the chance of these computers cheap as mine is on the blink.

Lenovo thinkcentre pc

i7-4790@3.60 ghz

12gb ram

1tb hdd & 128gb ssd

and a:-

10th gen intel core i5 processor 10400

Intel uhd graphics 630

8gb DDR4 memory

1TB hard drive

i know next to nothing about the technical side of computers and would only be using it to play FM and go online. Would any of them be ok to play FM at a decent standard?

I'm about to buy a new notebook and I wanted to know your opinions about playing Football Manager with a 15 OLED 4K 3840 x 2160 screen. Does the game support that resolution? Does the game interface adapt to this measure or i will have problems? Am I going to visualize it in better quality 3d? I clarify that I am an exclusive FM player, I could not take advantage of this screen for any other use, I would only buy it if it gives me something in our game. Thanks for your answers!

I sincerely doubt you'd get any extra joy out of a better screen when playing FM.

Wrong - higher resolution means you can fit more data on the screen.

The biggest change you'll see will be the amount of data the screen can fit on it.  Otherwise, given the graphics in FM aren't spectacular, I don't think there would be a significant change in terms of the 3D graphics from 1080p to 4K.  And as far as I know, FM supports whatever resolution your screen is.

Both would be fine in terms of the processing between matches.  3D graphics settings will need to be turned down to the lower end.

CPU wise, the second one is better.

Thanks for your responses. Also I wanted to comment that I am experiencing some problems with my current notebook (Legion 5 4800H, 32 GB RAM, 1660 Ti, 1.5 TB SSD) and I would like to know if you can have the indicated answer. I have FM17 and FM21 open simultaneously, or sometimes just one of them, and when I exit the game to enter the browser (to search for something related to the save itself) and I want to return to the game, a screen lock occurs many times and I have to restart, losing all the last advances.

It'll be very good.  As per the original post, we can't fairly comment on how many leagues it will run to your satisfaction, as everyone's expectations for processing speed are different.  But it has a strong processor, and the GTX 1650 graphics card is more than enough for max graphics settings for FM.

However, this one is a bit cheaper and actually better: https://www.box.co.uk/39P48EAABU-HP-Pavilion-15-ec1002na-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-_3561212.html

Thanks for reply I trawled thread this morning and due being desperate to order I went with this.

is it as good as suggestion

https://www.box.co.uk/NH.QBCEK.005-Acer-Nitro-5-(2021)-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-_3557432.html

That one is actually slightly better as it has a stronger graphics card, but actually in terms of FM there will be no difference as they both have the same CPU and RAM, and the graphics card in the one I linked is more than enough for FM's graphics settings to be maxed out.

Hi,

I am after a new laptop which will mainly be used for work and FM. My budget is between £500-£650, but could stretch to £700 if recommended to. I dont need anything too special for work.

I have seen a couple of laptops and wondering how these are viewed and if there is/are similar alternatives that may be cheaper and or better?

Hello, would like some feedback on this particular model - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0877LFKR2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_AKQHXB7CB5FW42EPVJ0M - would this be suitable to run FM2021 with a reasonable amount of leagues say 5-10 with a large database.

It's a good computer.

As per the opening post - we cannot advise on how many leagues etc. it can run.

It's up to you what you're happy with in terms of speed.

Hi all,

Looking for something to get into FM21 and also carry me into FM22 and beyond, budget is not too much of an issue and would like as much future proofing as possible. Could see this laptop turning into my main rig if powerful enough so would be looking for something with at least 16gb RAM. Have a gaming PC currently but it's on the large and bulky side and am going to be in transit quite a bit coming up so am not keen to be lugging it about everywhere plus its a couple years since I last upgraded so I'm curious if I could get better performance in a modern laptop. I like to run quite large databases and I know you guys say you cant advise on game performance with suggestions, I thought I'd at least mention it so you're aware.

Any suggestions/discussions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, have a good one all!

Depends how nuts you want to go really.

If you're looking for properly top of the range and are playing other games, this is the sort of thing you'd be looking at: https://www.box.co.uk/30031980-Medion-Erazer-X25-AMD-Ryzen-7-32GB-RAM-1_3820492.html

Or, this will also play anything you could currently throw at it, albeit the graphics card isn't quite as strong (but it is still excellent): https://www.box.co.uk/G513QM-HN042T-ASUS-ROG-STRIX-G15-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-_3569893.html

Thanks for the suggestions.

The first one looks interesting but hasn't been reviewed well on that site and is out of stock everywhere I have looked for it. The second one seems OK but I can't say I'm a fan of the look to be honest, garish RGB light strips aren't really my bag haha.

https://www.box.co.uk/39P50EAABU-HP-OMEN-15-AMD-Ryzen-9-16GB-RAM-1TB-SSD-_3606814.html

These two seem good, but I know people tend to get at Razer for being overpriced and gimmicky. Are there better options than these two?

Thanks again.

Yep, fantastic spec.  Both essentially the same aside from size.

Given the power of the components, I'd be inclined to go for the larger, cheaper one.  I dread to think how warm the 14" one could get!

Hi guys, first of all, thanks so much for all your continued effort and feedback. I've been away from the site for years and in fact, FM itself. Decided to get a new laptop and have been scouring this forum in its entirety for the last few days. I'm looking to invest in something that is somewhat future proof, which will predominantly be for everyday use; work, browsing, streaming, gaming (mostly FM and future versions) etc. I came across a DELL laptop and having a friend who works for them,  can get a decent discount. Would be looking around £780 with said discount. Seems pretty good to me having read through everything prior, was hoping for some feedback before committing however?

I can't fairly comment on Windows 11, having not used it myself.   Although, I'd personally think twice about being an early adopter of any operating system,

Hi everyone,

found 2 seemingly great options, can you please let me know what you think? I'm looking only to play FM in 2D (so don't need graphics really), however, I want a fair number of leagues, around 10 countries with a couple of leagues each.

Option A

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7 3700U 2.3 GHz, 4 core, 4 MB cash

GPU: Radeon RX Vega 10

RAM: 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

SSD: 512 GB

Option B

CPU: Intel Core i7 1165G7 2.8 GHz, 4 core, 12 MB cash

GPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics

RAM: 16 GB 3200MHz DDR4

SSD: 512 GB

Both are pretty reasonable price-wise. A is about 650 GBP, B about 900 GBP, both prices are completely fine with me.  As I understand it, the graphics processing is really basic in both cases, but I don't care that much since I don't play anything except for FM.

Option B also seems to be faster and more future proof, but I'm far from a PC guru, so any advice would help. :)

Here are the links just in case (they're all in Russian, so I doubt they're going to be much use)

A: https://www.mvideo.ru/products/noutbuk-honor-magicbook-15-r7-16-512-silver-bhr-wap9hnrp-30056231/specification

B: https://www.mvideo.ru/products/noutbuk-honor-magicbook-14-2021-i7-16-512-gray-ndr-wfe9hn-30056234/specification

Thank you a lot in advance!

Oooops

I googled 3700u vs 11657G

And I clicked on a link that looked like it

But it was 3700u vs 10657G

Can't believe I missed that.

Even with the right one now compared - the difference is very little.

The 11657G is better, slightly.

Is it worth the extra money - probably not.

Hi @Smurf and @kevhamster. I hope you guys don't mind me asking as this thread title says for FM21. But could you guys reccomended a laptop to play the older versions of FM on? Primary FM12/13. I obviously don't want to spend loads of money on a laptop to play older games, but I've really fancied playing the older games lately.

FM12 says it needs a processor of a min of 1.6gz. Atm I can't find any cheap ones that are higher than 1.1gz.

any help will be greatly appreciated :)
