Youth rating

Recommended Posts

So basically my question is: why does Portugal have such a low youth rating compared to Egypt and Turkey for example. They consistently have players in the top leagues, have been doing well in youth national and senior national team. 116 seems far too low considering the talent that they have. Specially comparing with those other countries for example.

The simple answer is the system doesn't work the way you're thinking it does.

I don't recall all the specifics now, but if I'm remembering rightly its factoring in populations, the nations general interest in football and so on. The details of clubs within that nation also play a part, so youth facilities etc.

Oh okay. So will the size of a country affect that? I thought it would be the potential of good players appearing... I guess it might be a bit misleading. Still a lot of good players come from place that don't make sense like Jordan though...

My understand is ultimately the system helps to form checks and balances because Jordan has a population similar to Sweden and greater than Denmark and Norway, but it's a nation that doesn't have the infrastructure to produce the same level of players overall.

Countries like China, India and the USA should by virtue of population size perform good players consistently, but don't again due to infrastructure and the lack of interest in football in those countries.

If you're finding too many players from countries you wouldn't expect to see them from, then that's more likely to be a bug or potentially an issue with how the save is set up in terms of active nations and so on.

That's the main reason everyone mentions their Brazilian wonderkids. It has a population of +/- 210 million people and it's hard to find a person who doesn't like football, either the national games or league games. The same can be said about Germany, but their price tags aren't always that nice.
