Is there really a stadium expansion limit?

I was under the impression that the expansion capacity in the editor would be the limit for when you are playing the game and clubs expand their stadium. However in my fm19 save I’m currently in the year 2035 and I’ve just noticed Liverpool are expanding to 80,000. I know in the editor anfield’s expansion capacity is around 58,000 so I take it this isn’t really the actual maximum figure original stadiums can go to? And no it isn’t a new stadium it’s  still the original anfield.

Ps. Couldn’t help noticing Monaco are onto their second new stadium within 10 years of each other and third stadium since my game started which I’ve never seen before as I thought it was a 15-20 year wait between new stadiums!
