Excellent work! Could either become the man to fire you to the Premier League or some huge £££ in transfer fees!

I think so! The others from the first 2 intakes are starting to creep into a decent level now as well (especially in the forward areas) so this could be a much more productive couple of seasons!

As is expected with ourselves we were up and down. I did give a lot of game time to new youth intake players and spread the minutes around once I knew we were very save.

League Table

image.thumb.png.1037371f81eb63dc2274321caa291255.png

14th place finish this season. On a side note we are closer to the playoffs than we are relegation which I see as a positive!

A mini run until again we are drawn away at a big Premier League club and got hammered!

Player Review - Duffy (YP22F)

image.thumb.png.2e61b59e98021c2f4087d306c2a42d68.png

Duffy (YP22F) is improving nicely and played 15 times for the club this season!

Transfers

image.thumb.png.46979e9d341fb136e882439ffad2517b.png

We loaned out 3 youth products as well as selling Sbarra and Fox for just over 500k combined!

Finances

image.thumb.png.70292b2aa54588f2fd519782debb052a.png

Finances are looking well despite all the improvements we keep making which is good!

Youth Review

image.thumb.png.73f5a76014dc74cb98b684644f866ea4.png

Development wasn't as quick as last year with Klein (YP22A) and Griffiths (YP21A) being the biggest developers. Giddings (YP20C) and Shelley (YP21B) both hit over 10 goals this season for the first time and Clarke (YP20E) got a massive 15 assists. Rodriguez (YP20B) finally got over 10 clean sheets as well which means we are improving in all areas.

Affiliate

With wanting to send our players out on loan for development I decided that I would get an affiliate club.

image.thumb.png.0b1b8b7573c918e541e2be6750a263ae.png

Halifax was the team I choose. They are back up in League 2 now which is a good level to develop at!

Squad Review - Part 1

Goalkeepers

image.thumb.png.228e52cc97fa9187ee6c62cdf72118df.pngimage.thumb.png.1b01ebbf953236dccebef798fb687abd.png

Rodriguez (YP20B) is now the best player at the club. I am surprised no one has come in for him yet! Cunningham (YP22B) is a solid enough backup for him.

Centre Backs

image.thumb.png.3e98a84bd63c80e4fabd40db4d45125a.pngimage.thumb.png.b4fba154aa50850532a701514fb36bd2.pngimage.thumb.png.65ed1f9c0c324aa14af416acce1e3bee.pngimage.thumb.png.7afdc61d421e4f20f604216cf7344467.pngimage.thumb.png.4c2b0419861c7015aba12be404a1c602.png

I am really not sure who are number 1 partnership are. I will probably go with Fenlon (YP21C) and Frank (YP20F)/Wallace but I really want to develop Kamara (YP23G) and Thompson (YP23F) also so there will be quite a bit of rotation here.

Full Backs

Rodgers-Price (YP21D) and Hutchinson will be our starters but I am trying to train Conroy (YP23B) to play left back so he can take over that position.

Squad Review - Part 2

Centre Midfielders

image.thumb.png.4c6920f2bf3fd9e07547be7ba85584c8.pngimage.thumb.png.f6504eca0ea7794d1eea0e82341bb0a1.pngimage.thumb.png.cdbb07d7a1fd927bb62cafc5dfed83b0.pngimage.thumb.png.521b03e4a1a0fe19dda61f98673c1bdd.png

You will see with the transfers in the next post I have sold/loaned a few players out. Powell and Griffiths (YP21A) will be our starters with Koreniuk (YP20D) will be the main backup with Francis (YP21E) there for any emergencies.

Wingers

image.thumb.png.e527616db5fa5ddd1439bf9ab6148a29.pngimage.thumb.png.9599475f0ff6b59b2285f4f1fd3bb2d1.pngimage.thumb.png.d55517614c2e0a59c8e1d2ebca05a233.pngimage.thumb.png.eb93de2967e4dba687f645f669ffed75.png

Clarke (YP20E) and Sarkic will be our main starters with Klein (YP22A) (who has now been capped as a full international) being the main backup. Ellis (YP23E) will be the emergency backup. I am also planning on using Giddings (YP20C) on the left hand side as well.

Strikers

image.thumb.png.ad4dc256e05ed7cdf5e33366e7e4abf3.pngimage.thumb.png.e5537b43d5ffe139a29e9519440f547c.pngimage.thumb.png.cf3f1bc62dbc27dcf5f19393354774aa.pngimage.thumb.png.759e28e32030a3625d2bb634bc52f3af.png

If I use Giddings (YP20C) on the wing then Shelley (YP21B) and superstar Cox (YP23D) will be our starting 2 with Cooper (YP23C) will be the 4th choice.

Pre-Season

Fixtures

image.thumb.png.e6950e231a74e647b638033b4a874138.png

100% pre-season against some half decent sides. Hopefully that means we go into the season confident!

Transfers Out

image.thumb.png.a585e67cec5f740fff1e775b5ff70be9.png

One big sale here in Fraser who is off to Bournemouth for £6m. It was a good deal and means the younger players will get more time. Akins also leaves on a free transfer to Oxford. I sent 4 players out on loan. Gorman (YP22C) and Bates (YP22H) are the furthest away in terms of CA so a season away will do them the world of good whereas both Duffy (YP22F) and McCone (YP20A)  could have got game time this season but will get more time elsewhere.

Well what a start it has been for us. The development is starting to pay off and performances are getting much better!

League Table

image.thumb.png.12b4383bf30328ff26775c6ad1d6d558.png

We currently sit 2nd after a great start. I doubt we will finish here but it definitely shows what we are capable off.

A nice win in the first round before Burnley's superior finishing proved the difference.

Player Review - Adam Fenlon (YP21C)

image.thumb.png.9ca0c7da4d80f142238c7dcedae7b3bd.png

Fenlon (YP21C) is developing well and tends to be our first centre back on the team sheet.

Youth Watch

image.thumb.png.2d19ae9d0b70348916b31e9cccd28ede.png

More good development and we have 2 players hitting in or around their full potential in Clarke (YP20E) and Frank (YP20F). The CA decrease in Rodgers-Price (YP21D) is disappointing but lets hope its a one off. Nice to see that 3 players have already hit double digits in CA increase in Conroy (YP23B)Kamara (YP23G) and Bates (YP22H).

November 2023 - January 2024

Results

image.thumb.png.f1c6565ad075d2242394483a33188c18.png

We have continued our good start to the season. An unbeaten December really did us the world of good. We have dropped points in some games we "should" be winning but we have also timed so big performances most notably at home to Brentford who were above us at the time!

League Table

image.thumb.png.d1e01e74120fe8e1dc22f44b5c09edb1.png

We sit 2nd with a nice buffer to 3rd currently. We havent had any big injuries so far this season and if we can keep everyone fit we have a chance!

FA Cup

image.thumb.png.8abe2cdf51dbc4edee7d1a880d374f1a.png

image.thumb.png.5320df774ba64a51ab15f6c83c812396.png

I wasn't too worried about the FA Cup and played 2nd string teams both times. It got us past Accrington but Everton and more specifically Victor Osimhen tore us apart.

Player Review - Gregor Klein (YP22A)

image.thumb.png.553e982da4ac445df3eba4a3dd5e7bba.png

I have no idea why but Klein (YP22A) is one of my favourite players. He has been capped 8 times now by Estonia and I love his name (reminds me of Game of Thrones). I think he needs to work on the final 3rd a bit more but his development has been very good.

Youth Review

image.thumb.png.b0261ea501f6cd26cbcbf19445703b98.png

Some really good development here and we have a lot of players going above the first big CA milestone of 100 which is great. Cox, Giddings and Shelley all have over 10 goals already this season and Rodriguez has already hit the 10 clean sheet milestone with 3 months still to play! Clarke has become an assist machine and has racked up 17 so far!

Other News

image.thumb.png.9c8eeeafae09248b4dbfe23ad8029520.png

Youth recruitment has been increased again which is great!

image.thumb.png.c5ce62720ecffbf40a905c66971c14e5.png

We are getting dangerously close to "chairman thought the offer was too good to turn down" offers now. This season might be massive in terms of the save as we already had to protest one offer for Thompson (YP23F) at 4.3m.

Additional Thoughts

This will be a pivotal season for us. We have 3 or 4 unhappy players now as we turned down offers from Premier League clubs. In terms of contracts all of our players are locked down for a minimum of 3 years with extension triggers attached to them so only way they could leave is if chairman accepts an offer. If we get promoted I think I can manage to hold off offers from mid table Premier League clubs but if we dont I think this could be a big struggle to replace some of these players!

Poached

For the first time in the save we have had a player poached!

If we split PA into 20 sections.

Silver 0.5 stars 0-10 PA.
Silver 1.0 stars 11-20 PA.
Silver 1.5 stars 21-30 PA.
Silver 2.0 stars 31-40 PA.
Silver 2.5 stars 41-50 PA.
Silver 3.0 stars 51-60 PA.
Silver 3.5 stars 61-70 PA.
Silver 4.0 stars 71-80 PA.
Silver 4.5 stars 81-90 PA.
Silver 5.0 stars 91-100 PA.
Gold 0.5 stars 101-110 PA.
Gold 1.0 stars 111-120 PA.
Gold 1.5 stars 121-130 PA

etc etc etc. We worked out during my Ton Pentre save that it's accurate, so you know that when this bloke comes through the system at Boro, he will have a PA of 121-130, (so he's actually a loss, but not a significant one).

Most Wanted

Talking about my thoughts above made me review the team to see how many of my players are wanted by other clubs for transfers. I have a 22 man first team squad currently (I wont include players I have loaned out) of which 18 are products of our youth intakes. 14 of those 18 are wanted for transfer by other clubs. Out of the 4 that aren't the one I am surprised about the most who isn't on the below list is Giddings (YP20C)

Francisco Rodriguez (YP20B)

Wanted By: Aston Villa, Fulham, Newcastle, Leicester and Spurs

Tony Thompson (YP23F)

Wanted By: Brentford, Sheff Utd, West Brom and Southampton

Adam Fenlon (YP21C)

Wanted By: Brighton

Peter Griffiths (YP21A)

Wanted By: Fulham, Newcastle, Sheff Utd

Rivaldo Clarke (YP20E)

Wanted By: Birmingham, Brighton, Newcastle, Spurs and Watford

Steve Cox (YP23D)

From the 2022 intake. Klein and Duffy look great. :applause:Gorman looks more like a striker than a wide player.

I do love Klein, it seems to be a position we are very strong in! Duffy and Gorman are both out on loan now for a season to aid development!

Rodriguez looks special.
Gidding athletic ability probably makes him better than he is. Maybe that's why nobody is interested.
Rivaldo pacey too, (and just love the name).
The comment from @_Ben_ about inverting WB's made my eyes bleed, and I think you have too many attacking options at the club to play 1+1 up front and conservative wide players. Having said that, I have no experience with playing double Vol's so don't be influenced by me.
I must have missed Shelley so.... gone back and had a look. I see him more as playing in a 2 up front and dropping deep, (with PPM), rather than starting deeper, (but I prefer 2 up top).
Oh wow! Just seen Cox? Is it appropriate to talk about "banging one out" in this forum?  He's ridiculous, and I even love his aggression and his argues PPM.
That's a phenomenal intake. 10 players at 100+ PA.
I like Cooper too, but the depth you have coming through up front is scary. Far too much depth to play just 1+1 up front and conservative wide players. ATTACK! lol

Youth Intake 2024 - Part 1

image.thumb.png.866180aa2a6166add8eff0b72b79428f.png

As expected I wasn't expecting a massively good intake. However if we look at some of the positions they could definitely help the squad out. I am thinking left back being the main one as well as our additional centre midfielder. Once again I have signed those that I tagged! Now lets look at PA vs PPA...

image.thumb.png.0e330ada374d1f8e65e6c2a6ab628cac.png

Before I delve into the PA and the movement up or down of the tagged players. Can we all just agree that a 6 foot 6 left winger is amazing? I havent clicked into all the players yet but please let him be good. How devastating he could be at the back post coming in! In terms of movement 5th moves up to 1st as well as 8th moving up to 3rd. The best PPA drops down to 5th in actual PA as well.

Youth Intake 2024 - Part 2 - The Players

YP24A - Justin Roberts

image.thumb.png.ec9c74d2ec4ef6d969ee4b5c8515f97a.png

Solid mentally but I am not really sure what to make of Roberts (YP24A). He isn't ready for the first team yet so will let him develop and work on his finishing in individual training.

YP24B - Evan Duggan

image.thumb.png.c2022bcd77edc69b9dc2e92d0c60af00.png

My absolute 6 foot 6 monster left winger in Duggan (YP24B)! His stats are nearly as random as his height and position. Good dribbling and technique (and randomly marking) . Really curious to test out how many goals he would get coming in at the back post!

YP24C - Niall Byrne

image.thumb.png.2e6210a4f1a718f41b4f32324c11f3f9.png

It is a position we probably required a player to come through. I dont think he is first team ready yet but will develop him to become a backup left back!

YP24D - Steve Bowen

image.thumb.png.5b40138a5bca0e26a07c68d047675729.png

Solid centre mid but needs development before being first team ready.

YP24E - Ron Yafai

image.thumb.png.f329c2e2559a2ee339c9633257ac6103.png

Yafai (YP24E) is our big prospect from this intake. His mental stats for someone of his age are very good as well as good solid passing stats. He is probably the closest to being given some time in the first team squad.

YP24F - Kyle Lolley

image.thumb.png.b61fc38844b881fd710d93e400875404.png

Another centre mid who has really good team work and work rate as well as solid passing. Needs to develop more though before being first team ready!

YP24G - Michael Muller

image.thumb.png.0e5254b1908699706fa1275ad28034d3.png

Everyone knows I love a good solid defender who covers the whole back line. I think he will be a squad player at best but some solid starting mental stats!

YP24H - Lorenzo Salmon

image.thumb.png.1dd10b02697eda3cf5b1cd5b353e5e7c.png

The surprise package of this intake. Salmon (YP24H) wasn't given much hope in the PPA page but definitely there is a player in there somewhere. Technically needs a lot of work but again like a lot of others in this intake the mental stats are very good!

Thoughts

I wasn't expecting too much from this intake after the preview but it has turned out to be a solid, if unspectacular, intake. It is probably the first intake I have looked at and not actually called anyone up straight away (perhaps Yafai (YP24E) might be). That may sound bad but in fact its probably more due to the fact that our first team have developed a lot and are now playing at the level required of them. If we can keep this team together (and that is a big if) then we could be onto something special!

Rodriguez has developed into a quality keeper.

image.thumb.png.2bbe51542e3415886c071ea97d63f82a.png

Giddings I am now using on the left hand side. His finishing, off the ball and composure combined with his pace seems to be working well.

Rivaldo is definitely my favourite player of the save just for his name alone! Unfortunately his assists have tried up last month or so but he is banging goals in now as well (up to 14 for the season at this point)

Shelley is developing really well and has popped up with some absolutely vital goals for us. I think as you say going forward we are really getting stacked which is always a nice option to have. I cant really see us moving away from the 2 up top formula!

Cooper I am honestly not sure what to do with him. Its probably his poor finishing attribute that makes me not want to play him up top. His stats are really developing though so I might revisit that.

Cox as you say is well worth a trip to the toilet! He is developing at a rapid rate and if we as a club dont develop at a rapid rate as well we will lose him!

You would have to use him in the AM line rather than the M line, but it's screaming out WTM to me with some development. Could give you a huge alternative strategy in tight games.

End Of Season

Results

Some stutters in the league but a really strong finish. Was it enough to go up?

League Table

image.thumb.png.873455d1801fd96d2b271f072b0a04aa.png

It went down to the last day but our win over Boro coupled with Brentford being hammered by Blackburn meant we went up. An amazing season for us and one that could save us from losing our best players.

Player Review - Mohamed Kamara

image.thumb.png.bbf50858945735e4b8af2d0e39e60506.png

Kamara (YP23G) is quickly becoming our next big centre back star. Developing very quickly and has very solid stats throughout!

Finances

image.thumb.png.634f31aa835c3b1715f96c4222cdf5ac.png

Still solid bank balance considering some of the improvements etc we have had.

Youth Review

image.thumb.png.7741db835e73ce8968a6e535528eb008.png

It seems we have some players who have definitely reached their potential in Clark and Giddings as well as others who are very close to it in Frank and Rodriguez. Differing results in the loanees, Bates flew up nearly 30 CA points on loan in Northern Ireland whilst those playing in the lower league of England didn't develop as well. Gorman did well but the other 2 despite playing a lot only went up 4 and 5 CA points. In terms of actual stats Cox hit 30 goals in his first full season whilst 3 other players hit over 10 which is where our biggest improvement was. Clark hit 20 assists which is a great achievement whilst Fenlon hit a very respectable 5 goals from centre back!

Other News

image.thumb.png.faad4ca3fd3dd610891a6e940a824e47.png

Clarke (YP20E) comfortably wins the player and young player of the season whilst Shelley (YP21B) wins goal of the season with a long range scorcher!

image.thumb.png.130a395131578196f9ae68f87b0e6954.png

This was always going to come and was needed. Still a very small stadium but its 6k more than what the Pirelli held. Lets hope it has some decent expansion capabilities!

We move to the Hawthornes for 2 seasons whilst this is being built!

Unfortunately our facilities have been downgraded!

And immediately upgraded!

Silver 2.5 stars 41-50 PA.
Silver 3.0 stars 51-60 PA.
Silver 3.5 stars 61-70 PA.

Pretty close @Jimbokav1971. PA of 133. Looks like a decent player!

You would have to use him in the AM line rather than the M line, but it's screaming out WTM to me with some development. Could give you a huge alternative strategy in tight games.

He's screaming out LB to me!

A bit of work on that defensive game and you've got a rarity in a tall full back who is actually good with the ball.

The comment from @_Ben_ about inverting WB's made my eyes bleed

I know you're a 4-4-2 man Jimbo, or should I say Mike...

Left back could be a great shout and it's a position we are short in (excuse the pun)

Just caught up with this save. Great progress and love how all of your youth prospects are developing. Cox is definitely one of the best I've ever seen!

I am amazed this summer we didn't actually have one offer for him. I popped a pretty big asking fee on him which may have scared them off. We have managed to keep a happy squad this summer which is good as there was previous grumblings about not being able to move clubs!

Well with the promotion, I suppose he should now be happy to stay a while.

Do you have a number of affiliates for youth now?

Not yet, I think that will be my next step if we manage to survive this season. Branch out and see if we can pick up some foreign youth players. I got Halifax as our affiliate to send out youngsters out to.

Squad Review 2024-25 - Part 1

Goalkeepers

Rodriguez (YP20B) and Cunningham (YP22B) are too very solid keepers. I am happy that I will have these to (all being well) for a number of years!

Full Backs

image.thumb.png.c6661b30601d6a5848a0ed492aa16e11.pngimage.thumb.png.a83c16c467646d77477066fc6114ee7f.pngimage.thumb.png.4b6c1eac39e8466243dd510f0f34ffc6.pngimage.thumb.png.fe6ba29b0e5ed1aeaf5f49f0e9942a04.png

Full back is an area we probably need to have 1 more solid season of development before we are close to being at Premier League level. All 4 of these players will get game time this season as there isn't too much difference in ability.

Centre Backs

image.thumb.png.c05f758a0315a3d348eb1ff074aeb65c.pngimage.thumb.png.7a491f8fee764161e59ef52febc9ed01.pngimage.thumb.png.ad74b0e7359199815449be7002de15c0.pngimage.thumb.png.39eca6ad83119d4fdfe57e35a2247b8a.png

This is an area which is rapidly getting better for us. Fenlon (YP21C) is our best centre back currently and will be a starter for us if fit. Kamara (YP23G) and Thompson (YP23F) are both around the same ability currently but with Kamara having much more potential I will probably lean to starting him first. Frank (YP20F) will be our reliable backup for the whole defensive line!

We did sell one defender this season. Wallace went to Sheffield Wednesday for 250k!

Squad Review 2024-25 - Part 2

Centre Midfielders

This is an area that I previously thought was our strongest point. Now I am not so sure. Powell and Griffiths (YP21A) will be our starters and both can probably make it at this level. Koreniuk (YP20D) is a solid enough backup but Duffy (YP22F) really hasn't developed at all since the intake. I think this is an area we may struggle in.

Wingers

image.thumb.png.66dc47355cb45fbe153b64e670e1a507.pngimage.thumb.png.9e9c749235908340c38df9e1f4f8b7b8.pngimage.thumb.png.6dfb137fdcd08c136f04c9f6a611dea8.pngimage.thumb.png.0b5035e4c635b5617e1e23e681a925a6.png

This is a pretty strong area for us. Clarke (YP20E) and Klein (YP23A) will be our starters unless I use striker Giddings (YP20C) on the left as well. Ellis (YP23E) has developed quite nicely and I will try and get him some game time in cup games. Sarkic is pretty much past his peak now. He will still get some game time but by next season I will probably end up selling and bringing in more youth.

Strikers

image.thumb.png.05fdbfb3bcc02b5b83bc36736dfdd1a1.pngimage.thumb.png.c67279e6eca2d3d46a5dde9092250cc1.pngimage.thumb.png.08043374a90a6bc5f5126c7eb864513c.pngimage.thumb.png.ea6f59c3938a45e1bf341787eb40a7c0.png

This is what I consider our strongest area now. Cooper (YP23C) is developing quite well and whilst he will never probably reach PL level can be handy in those smaller cup games or PL games to give our "stars" a rest. Giddings (YP20C will be mainly used on the wing but will still get games up top. Cox (YP23D) and Shelley (YP21B) will be our starters. They are both still developing quite well and as you can see Cox (YP23D) is turning into a superstar. He has already developed to be our best player and will surely get his England call up soon as well!

Youth Review 2024-25

image.thumb.png.769e48afcdaaf9c7b74f832076faddb6.png

This is our sheet for 2024-2025. As you can see a lot of our players are close to hitting there top PA and a lot of the time it isn't quite PL level. If we could get 1 or 2 players in from the next intake that could hit that level that would be good so we can develop them further.

Late Addition

I decided to call up Niall Byrne (YP24C) to the first team squad. He has very good potential and I will get him some game time. As Hutchinson and Bates (YP22H) have limited potential I will try and get hime some development time now.

Not really sure what this message means in terms of anything changing too much. I don't normally go that much in depth and have never or very rarely seen it come through as an inbox. @Jimbokav1971 and @_Ben_ might be better positioned to comment?

This happened with me as well, and my player's determination shot up by like 6-7 points IIRC. It basically is a significant & immediate change in some hidden attributes.

August - October 2024

Results

image.thumb.png.93665a29fd1dd6b3b6efae227582d204.png

A fantastic start to life in the Premier League. We already had some big "scalps" beating Spurs 4-2 (where PL top scorer Cox (YP23D) scored all 4) and also knocking a pretty much full strength Man Utd side out of the EFL Cup with what was pretty much our 2nd string!

League Table

image.thumb.png.00e0b09bb67f45306e07503ab6746319.png

Survival was our aim this season and currently we are smashing that. 12pts clear of 18th placed Leicester. I dont expect us to stay up here so that gap could be vital.

Carabao Cup

image.thumb.png.da7b500f98cf19a3c5d7e6ebfd661e65.png

We have played our 2nd string in all 3 matches so to get through them is a good sign, especially that Man Utd game.

Player Review - Alex Conroy (YP23B)

image.thumb.png.f4bf17990869e0ce28f128bd9e77f4fa.png

Conroy (YP23B) is really developing well and is pushing Rodgers-Price (YP21D) for his starting spot! He has 2 assists this season and is over 7 in the average rating.

Youth Review

image.thumb.png.4b4256d0c9e39c65c93490876c140f62.png

Solid improvement here although I have noticed some personalities that were positive before have turned to balanced. Cox (YP23D) has been on fire in the league. Was also nice to see those who I had thought had hit their peak PA in Rodriguez (YP20B) and Clarke (YP20E) have both improved a little more towards their top PA! Special shout out to my late addition to the first team squad in Byrne (YP24C) who has jumped an incredible 14 CA points!
