Motlhen
May 2023 We went out to a disappointing 1-0 loss in the ACL after a 13th min red card & a missed penalty at 0-0, we have to rue this missed opportunity to advance. In the league, we are still storming ahead. With no continental distractions, we should breeze the league this season. The last two games we have fought to the last for the win & 3 points. Motlhen
June 2023 I've applied & asked to start at Southern District in Hong Kong at the end of the current season in Singapore. We will see if they will be patient for me. But I will only join if I am leading the Singapore Hall of Fame. A league & cup title will make this a treble winning season which would be just enough to take top spot. Southern District fit the requirements of not previously winning the Hong Kong Premier League. Youth Intake Always terrible Fixtures Not an emphatic month, but we're way ahead. Finances It's been a while since I shared the finances, but we have seen steady season-by-season progression & can be very happy with the club's long-term future. Motlhen
July 2023 I also applied to Resources Capital in Hong Kong.. but the same response. A huge month as we lift the title with 5 games left to play! Hopefully we can continue unbeaten.

Motlhen
Sept - Nov 2023 Awards Great to sweep the top scorers award. Testament to what we built here, 13 players in the seasons dream team. & finally, the podium finish I've been aiming for: Luckily, none of the other top 10 are active managers, so I'll hold on to this position for some time. Now to wait for a job opportunity to arise in Hong Kong. A reminder of the eligible teams below:

Motlhen
Feb 2024 Chan Hung Ping is leading the HK HoF. His trophies came across an 11-year span. I will see how I get on in Hong Kong before committing to trying to take this throne too! Blaz Sliskovic in 4th place is the current manager of Kitchee who have won the last 3 consecutive league titles as well as 9 of the last 13. They'll be the team to beat. Motlhen
Mar 2024 For a team called Resources Capital, we ironically have neither resources nor capital and find ourselves in a dire financial situation. Our wage spend is almost double our current budget. & it looks like we can't rely on the youth intake to provide young, cheap talent. The club has 49 players on contract, plus staff. I will spend the first few days looking at who to move on. First up though, we have a game against HK Pegasus on my first day! 6 games to go to stay assured of avoiding relegation. Motlhen
March 2024 Continued.. I have selected the first & second XI, plus on extra winger to complete what I perceive to be our first team. Anyone on £100p/w will be offered a contract extension, but everyone else's position at the club has to be considered by their wage & contribution in the remaining games. EDIT: We are actually only able to offer £100p/w as it is both the minimum & maximum wage amount allowed. These guys make the reserves & youth team. Anyone without high potential will be moved on asap. The cull will definitely effect those in the first team squad too, but maybe at the end of the season. The whole squad needs a revamp to get the finances in order. Immediately in our first game, our 16yo goalkeeper who is the best of a terrible bunch, shows me how important recruiting a new goalkeeper will be.. Catch! Drop! Roll! Motlhen
March 2024 Continued (Again).. In preparation for next season, I have explored how to find the best players that will accept £100p/w. HKFC are an Amateur side who have won the HK top flight once, but are currently bottom of the league. Of their squad, those highlighted in yellow have accepted my £100p/w offer & we will require further scouting to decide who we will sign. First Team B, C & U18 Squad I expect we will sign only a couple of these players. I have also scoured the National Teams. Only one player from the U19's has agreed to join. Sadly, the two HKFC players in the National squads do not want to join us, but if HKFC get relegated, these two will be top of my list for the transfer window. I have extended the contracts of those on £100p/w already at the club. Due to his versatility I have offered a new contract at a massive £120p/w to Wai Chui. As it stands, he's set to be the highest paid player next season. I don't see any other team but HKFC going down this season. I've adopted a similar approach to what brought success at Hougang- but this will inevitably change as we figure out the squad's strengths & weaknesses. We've fought to remain unbeaten so far, with our worst performance coming in our only win against HKFC.
Motlhen
April 2024 Trying to sell some of our high-earners has resulted in some pretty dreadful squad dynamics. I'm not Mr. Popular right now & none of the players have even left yet.. I'm envisaging that we will be able to bring in some talented players on free loans next season, without this I think we will be favourite's for relegation. Meres has agreed a new £140p/w contract. He's now in line to be the top wage collector next term. Chun Hin has agreed a £100p/w contract too After this disaster of a signing, I've told the board in no uncertain terms that I am in charge of all signings & contract renewals throughout the club. Ugh. In the league we pulled off a great result against the league's runaway winners Kitchee to confirm our Premier League status for next season. Motlhen
Youth Intake I'm pleasantly surprised by a decent looking youth intake. I don't think I've seen any 14yo players on FM since the start of the fall of Freddy Adu! These are the guys I've signed.
Motlhen
May 2024 Another expected 1-0 win followed by a huge result against 2nd place Fuli to round off the season. We managed to climb to the top half & 5th. And whilst these are encouraging signs, my excitement is dampened substantially by the magnitude of the prize money against our financial deficits. The club is going to go through an overhaul over the next few seasons & we require Premier League status to stay afloat. With offers like this, it is proving difficult to offload players to reduce the wage budget too. Things are going to look very different by the end of June. Motlhen
June - July 2024 Maugeri joins from previous club Hougang Utd. He featured 10 times in the league & 16 times overall in the 2 years he was in the squad under me. He should be ready for first team football now & financially the free loan is a no brainer. I also brought in a trio of young loanees from Fuli.Sui Kai & Chaofei will be with us for the next two seasons. We're under the wage budget, but we still are wanting to offload 5 players on high wages (more than £200p/w). We've reduced the wage budget by £2,000p/w from last season- and the players are worrying about squad depth.
Motlhen
August - November 2024 Our business has reduced the wage budget by over £4,000. Hopefully our performances won't reflect this drop. Transfers Out We sold youth prospect Tsz Hin with a hefty percentage of next sale clause. Bringing him back on loan for the season, we will make sure he features this season to aid his progress. I took charge of recruitment, handing responsibility of the outgoing transfers to my assistant. The important thing was to get the wage amounts off of our budget, the fee's were an added bonus. Our highest paid player, Chen Juyuan, left on a season long loan with his £500p/w wages paid in full by Southern District. Transfers In Zhicheng featured for us 22 times last season on loan & joins us permanently for this campaign. Kam Ho is our best rated player by far; a bargain! This is how we set up for the first game of the season. The board have reduced the wage budget to below what we are spending after the transfer window has closed. We're now ~£200p/w above the wage spend requirements so we will look to offload a couple of reserves.
Motlhen
Aug - Nov 2024 on the pitch.. We have had an absolutely storming start, unbeaten in the league & sitting comfortably in first. I don't imagine our form will continue for much longer as we are 1000-1 odds for the title, but it's great to see we are capable of dominating performances. Two draws in the Sapling Cup so far- we'll have to up our game to take one of the two progression spots.
Motlhen
Dec 2024 - April 2025 The media have clocked on to my shrewd spending. Another mediocre intake. We went from bad to worse, but are still capable of a win on our day! We crashed out of the Cup with 4 draws from 4 games. And this is how the league standings look with 2 games remaining. Only 1 goal difference separating us & Kitchee. Surprising considering our form, but we still have a chance to win the league.
Motlhen
Gameweek 17 Both us & Kitchee win by a 1-goal margin. It all comes down to the final day- can we pull off 1000-1 odds & win the league?!

Motlhen
June 2025 To win the league & for our top goalscorer to get 6 goals in 18 games is barmy. Motlhen
The aim here is now to do two things. 1. Become the top manager Hong Kong has ever seen. 2. Leave Resources Capital with a positive bank balance. This will take a lot of time and financial prudence. The current squad is comprised of no one paid over £200p/w (aside from Poudel who activated a Games Played clause in his contract- a contract agreed prior to my tenure). There are currently only 9 first team squad players with contracts extending beyond the end of next month. I will be aiming for further cut backs this year as we still made an overall loss, which will mean we heavily rely on the loan market.

Motlhen
The scale of the financial side of things has had me thinking over the in-game summer. The season I joined (& only played the final few games), we made a loss of £300k. This season, we won the league & almost halved our losses to £160k. We're going to compete in the West First Preliminary Round of the AFC Champions League. I'm not sure what to expect from appearance money, but I don't think it'll be significant unless we make some serious progress. The Southern District job was available & the finances here did get my head turning, but ultimately I knew what state the finances were in when I took over & so I can't turn my back on the club. We need to reduce the annual outgoings by at least £160k, but ideally up to £300k. This equates to between £3.1k & £5.8k per week. We're currently spending £5.1k/w on wages, so I've set a hard limit on £2k/w for the whole squad (staff, res, u18 included) for the upcoming season. Time for upheaval. Motlhen
August - December 2025 Low bonuses for next season. A lot of players left, but the hardest to let go was top winger Kam Ho. At least we got some money for him. Rebuilding the squad through the loan market, we've kept the wages down. Some of the key signings: Fixtures Winning silverware is my main aim, so I'm delighted our squad of loanees could outclass Eastern. For the 6th year in a row, we lose in the 1st round of the Challenge Cup. A mix bag of results in the league & unbeaten in the Sapling Cup. Next up is our first ACL match! It'll be a milestone match for me. Edited August 16, 2020 by Motlhen
Motlhen
January 2026 We smashed past Kaya but then conceded in the 88th min to drop into the Asian Cup East Asian Zone (draw yet to be made.) We did get through as group winners in the Sapling Cup. Plus the win against Rangers allowed us to make 3rd position ours for now.
jcricky
just found this thread and couldn't believe it I'm doing a similar thing myself! I haven't gone to your levels though of taking over clubs that have never won the league, or followed the leagues up from the bottom, as I've been in Northern Ireland (unsuccessfully) and currently in Wales. Ui Young was amazing for me in Singapore too, looking at the clubs finances for the Asian Cup I'm pretty sure if you win it you bank around a million? so could be worth going all out for that this year. Motlhen
March 2026 The flood gates open at the back as we continue on a dreadful run domestically. March's saving grace was that we snatched a 1-0 win in our ACL group opener against Thai side Chiangrai. After our new owners told us there would be no financial investment, the clubs financial records suggest the month's main income as "Other". If that's not corruption, I'm not sure what is. Motlhen
Next up we had Kitchee, the toughest team to beat in HK, in the Sapling Cup semi-final. They went 1-0 up, but had a player sent off as soon as the second half started. We got back on level terms to force extra time, where we missed the chance below seconds before they went on to grab the winner. Motlhen
May - Jun 2026 We had the chance to leapfrog Wing Yee in the final game against them. It looked like all the results were heading in our favour to get us 3rd place, until we conceded a 94th minute equaliser to drop to 4th. Not a bad final standing by any means, but some way off the glory of last season. We also took a beating in the reverse fixtures in the Asian Cup, bowing out in the group stage. With financial security, we can now look to build a team again! On to next season.
Motlhen
July 2026 Excitement has gripped Resources Capital fans with the biggest signing of the clubs history. That's right! Hopefully he can live up to the hype.
Motlhen
July - Aug 2026 Financially we are in a much stronger position and seem to be stable. As well as Neil Etheridge, we have brought the following players in: I broke the bank for a 17yo LB. But I think he'll be worth it. For 17, he's already incredible & a serial winner. He was in last seasons HK Premier League Best XI. He must've fallen out with the management at Kitchee, there's no way they intentionally let him go on a free. Kwok Pui is welcomed back permanently after two loan seasons with us after his £10k move to Happy Valley. Tsz Hin is back on loan a 3rd time after his £20k move to Happy Valley. Motlhen
Aug - Oct 2026 The new board finally let me get my next coaching licence. Motlhen
Nov - (part of) Dec 2026 Steady financially. A slight decline but no where near the freefall we were experiencing each month in the first season. We managed to be the first team to take points off of Kitchee this season.
