Struggling to get goals

Recommended Posts

So, I have rotated around a few different formations 4-1-4-1, 4-2-4, and now the 4-2-3-1 and I am struggling to get goals from my strikers no matter what I seem to do. Do you have any tactical advice to build on to my current 4-2-3-1?

If your aim is to get your striker scoring then use a different role. AF(a), CF(a), P(a), and PF(a) will all focus more on scoring than an F9(s) will. You could then use your AMC as more of a playmaker instead of a SS(a). Also, if you have wingers and/or wingbacks providing many crosses each match then you'll benefit greatly from having a striker with aerial prowess (jumping, heading, bravery, strength). And in any tactic, a striker with good off the ball, anticipation, and acceleration should be able to score a few goals a season just from beating the offside trap.

If you want to use a SS, then these would be potential changes I would recommend in terms of roles and duties (although I know nothing about your players, so take this with a big pinch of salt):

F9

IFsu           SS           Wat

DLPde  CAR

FBat   CDde  CDde  WBsu

SKde/su

When it comes to instructions, I would be considerably less aggressive defensively and would not insist on using the Pass into space all the time but rather on a situational basis (as an in-match tweak as I see fit).
