Hi fellow managers!

Does anyone know of a way to stop players signing for other clubs before you have a chance to sign them. In my current save Angel Gomes was coming to the end of his contract but because I am in the same league as him i can't offer a pre-contract until his contract has expired completely. However a team from outside of the prem offered him a contract! Is there any way to offer a contract in this situation!? It's really frustrated because Man Utd won't sell him to be for less than 12m even though he has a month left on his contract!

This isn't true. You can offer him a contract if he has less than a month left.

Unless Brexit has done something to that rule. I'm not 100% on whether it can affect contracts in that way.

Yeah, its true.

Non English(Uk?) clubs can offer a contract when there is less than 6 months remaining, but other English clubs have to wait until there's less than 1 month remaining.

Meaning the best Prem players will likely be snapped up by European clubs if they allow their contracts to run down.

I've taken to loaning the player with a decent fee attached - and offering a optional fee of what they'd sell for.  And then offering the contract when I can down the line. It seems to "put off" the foreign interest.  Costs more money though.

You're agreeing with me. Initially you said you'd need to wait until the contract has expired (English to English club) and you're now agreeing that it's  a month before expiry, which is correct.

Ah, expired.  I didn't read correctly.  Sorry.

Although I did spell out the correct problem otherwise, I believe?  But that's not a game bug, that's the IRL situation IIRC.

Yes, you did and yes, it is a problem IRL too.
