serg__23
I have problem my tactic. My defenders clear ball all time dispite instructions and available options nearby them. Tactic: Example In this situation #6 has short options in #16 and #11. But he decides to clear ball in no man's land. If it's due to players being League 2 level how you adjust your tactics? Zemahh
Without knowing their attributes (could be poor Composure or Decisions), their low individual mentality could also cause that—on Standard team mentality, defenders with Defend duties operate on Defensive individual mentality, meaning they're very risk-averse; clear the ball under pressure, prioritizing safety first and foremost. To change that, you could do one of the following: Standard -> Positive; increases their individual mentalities from Defensive to Cautious Focus Play Through Middle; increases goalkeeper's, central defenders' and defensive midfielders' individual mentalities a notch (Defensive to Cautious) The lower your Mentality, the more inclined defenders will be to clear the ball long under pressure. And the higher your Mentality, the more inclined they will be to pass from the back. While you can shorten their passing with Play Out Of Defence, that doesn't change the amount of risk they're actually willing to take.

Is this from the moment when your defenders has just regain possession? Since you have play out of defence, if the buildup starts from the GK, the CB will split wide and default to lowest passing distance to make short pass from the back which doesn't seem like it from this screenshot. If it is from the moment you have just regained possession, your defenders will use whatever passing distance available you have selected from team instructions

Alternatively, if they have a trait of attempting long range passes, train them to lose the trait. No guarantee it will work though
