Online game help

Hi, not sure if this is the right place but hopefully someone can help. Myself and 2 others are playing an online game and we have just finished pre season and played the first game of the premier league. However in 2 games, during the actual match itself the game just paused as if the continue time had expired. The game then continued after a few minutes and made a result up. So in one game it was 80 minutes in and it was 2-2, I went to make a substitution and the options were all greyed out, no one could press play or pause the only options were continue and waiting... Then the game continued and gave a 1-0 loss. Does anyone know the issue or how to resolve it? This is our first attempt at an online game so we're not really sure of any known issues or anything. Any help would be appreciated
