I suppose I can't argue too much having sold a 16-year-old for a club record (coincidentally it's Liverpool raiding again who signed Diouf!) - but one of my favourite parts of the game is developing the kids that come through the academy and would have liked to see him flourish at home first. 16 hours ago, karanhsingh said: Great thread!! Thanks for following What you could do is do what I do and sell maybe 1-2 or your youth players a year as sometimes in a youth intake you will get 4-5 really good players so in a way you could have best of both worlds by keeping some and making them part of your team and selling some of the others to make continious profit from your youth team. The only issue I have with that is that I can only sign the African 1st/2nd nationality players from my intake (last year there were 4) so my pool of players will always be smaller. smp20
August 2020 Update Transfers In Wissa ~ Traore ~ Thiam ~ Castelletto ~ Bangoura ~ Mido ~ Eteki ~ Ganvoula ~ Lukaku Our squad had done well in Ligue 1, but as proven by our 2nd half of the season slump it was an aging side on a downwards projectory. We needed to revamp the squad with either young players or those in their prime and I decided I didn't want to splash out too much on players (either fees or wages) so looked for freebies, transfer listed players. Our defence is bolstered by Castelletto and Thiam (who I'm retrained as a BPD), centre midfield with Traore, Eteki and my personal favourite and new Regista Mido. While the front three will be led by Ganvoula (our biggest upfront fee signing), Wissa and Bangoura. I decided to bring in Lukaku at left back, mainly because the money received from Liverpool was burning a whole in my pocket. £1.5m up front, £3m over 48 months and Lazio are paying £15k a week of his wages = no brainer for me. I may use the Joker window to bring in another player if we look like we're lacking anywhere. Transfers Out One big outgoing and lots of little ones (more you can't see and loans/frees too) meaning we are now almost fully free of players that don't fit the philosophy only a handful left in 2nd team or u19s. Results A great start to our Ligue 1 return, though admittedly we haven't faced any of the bigger clubs yet. League Table PSG smashing it out the park from day 1, they finished on a whopping 106 points last season . Tables don't tell you much at this stage, September will be tough as we face Marseille, Lyon and PSG!

smp20
September - October 2020 Update Joker Transfer I felt we were lacking competition for Bangoura and Wissa out wide (Lamah and Zongo are deteriorating) and saw the opportunity to sign Cornet who wasn't getting into Lyon's side and transferred by request. Bargain fee, but big wages - hopefully he will live up to expectations. Results Very happy with this run of form; beating Marseille away, drawing with Lyon and a 5-0 thumping of Rennes, the only side who have beaten PSG. We matched PSG in terms of chances, but they were clinical. League Table Flying high in 2nd place! 6 points behind PSG with a game in hand. Tactics This is the tactic I've built the side towards, my favourite way of playing.
smp20
November - December 2020 Update Results November was good, including a saving from being 'FMed' by Lille who only had 3 shots all game, but that December form was something else. 2-0, 2-0, 2-0, 2-0! League Table PSG have already dropped more points than last season and we're in touching distance of them, whiles Rennes and Lyons are peaking over our shoulder. Player Stats Mido has been the heartbeat of the side as our Regista, while Ganvoula has been banging in the goals. Cornet has turned out to be worth his wage, bagging 4 goals and 5 assists in 9 games. Youth Intake Preview It should be an 'excellent' group, though hard to tell if any will meet the criteria. Fingers crossed! African Cup of Nations... I was under the impression that the AFCON had been moved to the summer months, however the 2021 edition held in Cameroon is back in January and this will prove a real thorn in our side. It may be a case of a few short-term loans to see us through Jan-Feb.

Ronaldo Beckham
Wow amazing start in Ligue 1 mate, keep up the good work and Cornet is a great signing. smp20
With AFCON in action we've had to creative in the transfer market! We've secured a big name signing in transfer listed Presnel Kimpembe, a good deal as we're paying £10m up front and £13m over 48 months so our balance isn't taking a huge hit and also PSG are still going to be paying him £100k a week . We've also brought in another two centre backs and a centre mid on loan to cover the AFCON players.

smp20
A new challenge awaits for Titi. Of course he'd prefer to manage his home country Guinea, but Cameroon will be an interesting proposition. smp20
January - February 2021 Update Results We started January in fine form, our clean sheet run not finishing to the final game vs Nimes, going 9 games without conceding! February was very different...An unlucky loss vs Lyon, followed by being knocked out the cup! Good results vs Metz and Marseille, but one result really sticks out. That PSG thumping. Oof! At least we had a strong reaction vs Dijon. League Table We're still clinging on to 2nd place, but now PSG have pulled away, Rennes and Lyon on our heels.

smp20
March - April 2021 Update Results A nice little unbeaten run, shame we couldn't beat Lille at their place which means draws home and away vs our rivals. League Table 4 games left and we're 6 points clear of 3rd place Lyon. Unless we really mess up in May, we should finish as runners up. PSG won the league with 5 games spare . We face Nice(H), St Etienne(A), Monaco(A) and Amiens(H) in our last 4.

smp20
May 2021 Update Results A disappointing start to May by drawing at home to Nice and losing to St Etienne, but we finished well beating Monaco away and a solid 3-0 win at home to wrap up the season. smp20
Facilities ~ Finances ~ Player Stats ~ Awards ~ Mido ~ Ganvoula ~ Adama Traore Overall a great season to mark our return to the top flight with. With Champions League football next season we will need to be ready to rotate which may make it more difficult to reach the same heights, but if we can keep pushing into the CL/EL spots I will be very happy. That 8-1 loss to PSG will be forever etched in my mind though . Mido was our player of the season, spraying key passes left, right and centre from his Regista role. Silvere Ganvoula was prolific in front of goal, banging in 24 leagues goals making him join top scorer with Mauro Icardi and therefore ahead of Mbappe and Neymar! Adam Traore was our top assist maker as our Mezzala. I think next season I will opt for minimal signings, perhaps trying to find some players to bolster our U19s who have won the National Championship twice in a row but will now struggle with numbers. Only senior signings will be freebies, unless the right player comes along!

Their wage budget is equal to the next 3 teams combined! In one save Neymar alone made more money than my whole team of ASSE overachievers! @smp20:Great Job coming in second. With rotation (playing 2nd stringers in games you should win) you should be able to keep up for at least the first half of the season. Where it gets tough is if you advance in Champions League it makes for a congested 2nd half of the season and there is always a good chance of a bad run of form. This is because every game is important and knowing when to rest your first stringers becomes a problem.

Yeah PSG are ridiculous - 209 points in total in the two in game seasons and they've added Gundogan, Grimaldo, Willian, Icardi, Jose Gimenez, Pjanic, Benzema and a load of other good squad players Meanwhile my upgrades have put us into the red so I'm very cautious of using our transfer budget. I think it's going to be youngsters added this season, we already have two joining from Ivory Coast who we had to wait until they turned 18. 50 minutes ago, Hootieleece said: Since PSG's Payroll is stuffed with players making $10 million+/year They should get to absurd point totals. smp20
So these are the reasons why we're not looking too great financially. We bought the stadium from the council so we're able to expand it in the near future and we're making the final facilities upgrades to 'State of the Art'. This all confirms that we will be building on what we've got next season.
