MrBannystar
I don't know if this is in the right forum section, or if it's already been suggested (apologies if so), but I imagine this Corona situation might impact the release of FM 2021 in some way. If football hasn't resumed thereby making the release of a new FM somewhat difficult, how about releasing a throwback version of FM with every database for the past, say, 20 years available to use with the current game features? I know there's unofficial databases released from previous seasons, and although they're great to check out, they're not complete. Is it at all possible to take the existing databases from previous games (and add in extra attributes not previously included) and make them playable on FM 2020? This is something I'd totally buy, especially as I'm undergoing a huge nostalgia binge for 90s/early 00s football at the moment.
Overmars
I'm laughing because sometimes I wish I could purchase the reverse -- an updated database with an old match engine. I do really like FM20 overall, but the match engine sometimes...
makie51
I'm almost positive licensing laws would prevent that from happening.

Great idea in theory, but practically, logistically, financially and legally it would be beyond consideration unfortunately.
mozza79
honestly, there are so many great editors out there just SI allowing us to change the start date would be good enough.
Os
No new features needed. Just concentrate on refining FM20, update the database and we're good to go. p.s: you can still market it as FM21 of course Edited April 30, 2020 by Os
barrenjoey14
Oh, you-'re making me nostalgic now. Going back to the 2000/2001 edition of CM would be incredible. Or even as far as CM 97/98, that would be something else!
cris182
I think we might have to accept even if they can sort out football in general there may be a delay to the game if we get one at all this year, I know code and things can be done working from home but can everything be done that way?
J8mb0
Oooof I can just imagine a save with CM 97/98 database with all the new features. Mouth watering. Edited May 1, 2020 by J8mb0
99
There are people who make old databases into recent FMs and their job is both hard and beautiful. But it can never be perfect because, for instance, finances (like transfer fees, sponsorships...) can never be made exactly as they were at that time. Technical staff as well. And other stuff. I gave it a go with a database from 03/04 (my favorite period with Mourinho's FC Porto) in FM20 and I immensely appreciate the work the person (can't recall the name I'm sorry) did with the database, but has flaws like what I mentioned above and it's almost impossible to fix them. Digital2013
It would be best for the game to be delayed to March 2022 to include the Winter transfer window and by the effects of how this season will end should be clear. They could also use the extra months to sort out many problems in the 2020 version, it is the most frustrating version of FM I have played and unless major changes are made I won't be spending more on 2021. In no particular order, things i'd like to see improved: A lot of problems with junk or irrelevant emails could be fixed by asking you at the start when you set the game up if you want to be a 'hands on' manager, do you like to see financial news, do you prefer to get involved with your young players etc options could be 'greyed out' depending on who you are choosing to manage, such as you can't be hands off at a small club. I'm tired of the game interrupting just to tell me my U23 team has won £10k in the Leasing.com trophy! yes you can sit in menus and turn things of but its not obvious or easy. They can ditch the 'fake Twitter' hashtag 'hope we can get him' from some computer generated profile adds little to the action. The 'shouts' have long been a joke, 'get creative' is like a Churchill speech and rouses your players, but giving them 'praise' makes them down tools. This hasn't changed for about a decade. Criticising or praising training is repetitive, if you criticise the players go 'ok boss, ill sort my self out' praise and they say 'thanks boss' whats the point? the game seems biased against older players more than ever in this version, they hit 32/33 and then become slow and useless. In reality the top players adapt their game and position and can still play top level, see Messi, Ronaldo, Zlatan, Vardy for real life examples. The match engine seems to flick into two modes, serious or cartoon and you can tell early on in a game which one it will be. Average players start running about like Maradona at Mexico 86 while your good and consistent goalkeeper just stands there and watches them run from the halfway line and bang them in. In reality at a top level these crazy games happen one or twice a season. On FM 2020 you get about 1 a month! I don't want to see just a shiny new skin for 2021 there are a growing list of things to fix.
