Bought it on 2game.com and got the key and is in my steam library

The key is for the game release, is 2game.com one of the retailers who offers beta access?

Would it not even install on a 32 bit machine?

I would assume not, as there are differences in the program files that should stop an incompatible program from being installed.

However, even if it does install, it won't run.  It is literally 64-bit only, so if you're running a 32-bit machine you're not going to be running FM20.

No, I get it won't run - and this isn't a problem for me personally as my machine is 64 bit and the game runs fine.

And I can imagine it not installing due to the file architecture, as you mentioned. But I wouldn't expect Steam to know that and gray out the install button - I'd expect errors during install. Maybe I'm wrong, just interested in how steam works in this scenario.

Steam would know whether it's installed on a 32 or 64 bit machine.
