Madness. This has never happened to me in all the years I've played this game haha Apparently Mr. Brent didn't think I had enough support from the players so out I go. That's okay, we will be back stronger than ever... right after we panic about our future and where our next meal is going to come from

Potential Landing Spots?

So from 1860 Munich and below are places I think I could potentially get hired. I have no desire to go back to Wales unless it was TNS, I've already conquered that country.

I will be applying to 1860, Plymouth and Newcastle Jets.

It must be a FM19 thing - but I've seen 3 or 4 sackings in career threads I've been reading post-a takeover.  Good luck with the job search!

Really? I haven't seen anything about that. This is seriously the first time it ever happened to me though so who knows.

This is a job I'd actually love to take. Preston have dropped into League one recently but they have really good facilities surprisingly. Predicted to finish 4th, they now find themselves in 17th at the start of October.

The offers dropped off and it seems unlikely we will land back in the Championship. I received many offers from clubs but I didn't think we were a good match until...

I never managed Coventry before so this should be fun! We were given the task of finishing mid-table and I think we will be capable. For starters, this squad believes in me a lot more than Sheff Wed did from the get go. Probably because my reputation is equal to League one level clubs but that's okay, I can see myself setting up a dynasty at Coventry. Lets hope I've finally found a permanent home.

End of the 2032-33 Season

I zoomed through the rest of the season today after work and again we cleared our goal of 'avoid relegation zone'.

We played our last league game yesterday and as I drove home from the Ricoh Arena I found myself longing. Longing for something more!  I have surpassed the boards expectations yet they have not offered me an extension on my contract which is due to expire in 2 months. I cannot sit idly by and wait on them. I have to put myself out there. I have ambition and dream of managing a top team. Nurturing youth players into adult hood and watching them take the world by storm. As I drove home, I didn't feel like that was a realistic possibility at Coventry. Nothing against them, I just don't think I will live long enough to see that happen...

I must take my future into my own hands. The disrespect by not offering me an extension has almost irreparably damaged my view of this club. I had a good situation at Sheff Wed, that's the level I should be managing at, at least. I feel no connection at Coventry. It's just me going through the motions. No enjoyment at all and that's not what soccer is about. You can't possibly succeed if you're not enjoying yourself.

Basically what I'm saying is I am looking to move on and manage somewhere else...

The offer was just too good to turn down. 14.5k a week is pretty nice. I have never been to the southern hemisphere in my life so celebrating Christmas when its 95 degrees outside will be different. We shouldn't have a hard time qualifying for the World Cup either so I'm hoping to use that as a reputation booster. I'm a kiwi!

The fate of a nation rests on your shoulders

This is how the current team selection looks. You'll notice I use a squad view called 'total footballers'. That's because I like to get an idea of how 'complete' my players are. Complete players are, well, complete... They are strong in every aspect of the game. Technically gifted, mentally strong and physically capable and dominant. In our current team selection we have 1 maybe 2 players who you'd say are close to being complete. Compared to the teams we are going to be facing like Fiji, every player is dominant though.

But just because I like complete footballers doesn't mean I subscribe to the philosophies of total football. Sure there are aspects I love like the hard pressing and quick passes but truthfully I couldn't care less about how much possession I have at the end of the game. The only thing I want to do is score 10 goals a game. I love my teams to be fast and tenacious in attack and stun opponents. Similar to how Man Utd played under Sir Alex. I don't want my team to sit and wait for openings I want them to create openings by making forward runs and taking risks. In defense, ideally I would like them to press hard and tackle even harder. This is something I try to be careful with because not every team is capable of pressing hard and winning the ball back quickly. For example, Coventry. When the day comes and I'm managing a top team I will have them pressing very hard and putting in a good shift.

I will probably experiment the pressing more with New Zealand given our next opponents are Vanuatu and were gonna kill them. As I play more with New Zealand I'm going to go more in depth about my tactical approach but I need games first to experiment in. So stay tuned!

P.s. I also brought in a young assistant who I think may have potential to grow.

Did you stop being Coventry's manager when you became New Zealand's national team manager?

World Cup success really helps boost the reputation.

In my current save.  I was ICT and USA manager. After World Cup, (winning to Knockout Round matches) my reputation was boosted sufficiently that I landed the Juventus job.

My Career path:

Stalybridge Celtic (Vanarama North and Vanarama League) (2019-2029)

Inverness Caledonian Thistle (Ladbrokes Premeiership) (2029-2034)

Team USA (2034 World Cup)

Juventus  (2034-)

That’s awesome you got the Juventus job! Congrats. But yeah that’s what I’m hoping happens because lower league management isn’t really my preference and the top division clubs aren’t willing to give me a chance even in Scotland.

Granted New Zealand aren’t a powerhouse and I doubt we get past group stages but maybe a bigger nation will open up and I can do better at the next WC or Euros. Let’s hope lol

amusing that there is a phrase "sent to Coventry" which basically means to deliberately ostracise someone, and basically acting as if they no longer exist, so probably not a long term reputation builder ;)

comes from the 17th century, during the English Civil War, though I don't think the place has improved much since then ;)

Good luck in international management, look forward to seeing how you do :)

Last match till June. I've had discipline issues with New Zealand so far so I'm going to be more conservative when June comes around and we begin our preparations for the World Cup. Overall our performances have not been great so I don't have too much confidence going into the WC lol. Until then if you need anything you'll know where to find me...

World Cup 2034

Our first match was against Italy and to no surprise we got blown out 4-0

Technically we were not eliminated though because Italy also beat Uruguay in their first match, so if by some miracle we managed to beat Uruguay we would advance to the next round! Much easier said than done.

However, in our match vs Uruguay the boys were really giving it their all. We were level at halftime 1-1 and we had made a decent amount of chances. Basically I decided to move my best player (who is a striker) to play inside forward on the left so he will see more of the ball.

So the second half stars and it is cruising along... not many highlights. When suddenly around the 65th minute we get a highlight and we immediately win the ball off a Uruguay throw in. The ball is centered to our striker who is just outside the 18 yard box. A few seconds pass as he holds the ball then this happens:

1352926831_ScreenShot2019-06-23at12_40_39AM.thumb.png.85e8f261507d45488550bdf961ceb512.png

*Note that this isn't exactly when he let go of the ball. It's milliseconds after.

My left winger (man in open space in the penalty area) is about to receive a pass from Wallace. After he received it he takes a touch and buries it. 2-1.

You can probably guess what happened though... the assistant ref raised his flag and rules offside. I am totally bummed by this decision and think "damn at least we are giving it our best effort here"

But then the replay pops up and shows us that the decision of offside is actually the incorrect one. My left winger was in fact onside and behind Uruguay's last man (I can't get the official review with the offside lines but I promise he was lol), only by what seemed like inches. VAR was already used in this match to award us a penalty and keep our hopes of advancing alive. But for whatever reason we did not get a VAR review. Devastated.

The rest of the match was frustrating and eventually Uruguay but us out of our misery and removed all hope by scoring in the 89th minute.

1566132774_ScreenShot2019-06-23at12_54_38AM.thumb.png.89a6e6f93c0505a8613119e08cc50381.png

Not the most shocking result but we were really close and I feel hard done by the refs in this match. But complaining won't help matters so we have to take it on the chin and move on. Now usually what happens after the World Cup is a lot of managers either leave or get sacked. My goal is to move to a higher ranked nation and continue my career from there.

I may find myself taking this job. I applied to take back over at TNS and I didn't even make their shortlist for managers to hire. I've gone backwards so I think it's best I take a job at an underperforming club and start winning and getting promotions. This is a job I would take. I previously applied to take this job and was interviewed but Jack Grealish got the job ahead of me and ended getting them relegated. They are in League 2 right now which is strange because they seem to be a very stable club with good facilities. If they offer me the job I will take it and leave New Zealand.

You’re right. For whatever reason I can’t get a job in the championship or league one to save my life now. Even TNS have outgrown me and denied me an interview when Giggs left. I ended up declining this offer in the end.

Before I went to sleep Crawley town offered me a contract and they are favorites for promotion so I’m probably just going to accept that and stick it out until my rep goes up. I have to make runs in the cups as well.

Think it is that Coventry was so anti Royalist that when Royalist prisoners were sent there during the civil war they were ignored, forgotten about, so "to be sent to Coventry" has stuck as meaning just that

So far my career has not taken the trajectory I had hoped. When he made the jump from TNS to Sheff Wed we were on the right track. But I haven't been able to recover since being sacked and we have found ourself dropping further down the English league system to another team I know nothing about. I've known the name of the the club, it is familiar, but that's where my knowledge of the place ends.

Interesting to note that this is the first red team I am managing in my career while the majority of my clubs have worn blue.

Promising start away at Mansfield who are top of League 2. We dominated the match and as long as we don't pull a Man Utd of this season, we should be able to win promotion.

It's all come down to the final day. We could seal automatic promotion if we win. We have been very inconsistent since I took over and it shouldn't have come to this but it doesn't matter, here we are.

16 seconds into the match...

1: GOAL We take the lead after a beautiful finish from our striker Gary McQuillan. 1-0!

14: Our weakness has been set pieces unfortunately and we conceded a goal off a corner not long after... 1-1

29: GOAL Right back Dan Lee is played a ball out wide in open space, dribbles forward and whips the ball into the 6 yard box where McQuillan was left unmarked and finished a chance off a first time shot! 2-1

HalftimeWe go into the changing rooms leading 2-1 at halftime. Things are looking good, all we have to do is hold our lead and not lose and we get promoted!

52: GOALLLLL!!!!

84: GOAL! Lee throws the ball into Lynch who plays it back quickly. Lee then delivers another whipped cross into the box where Allen Meekums was waiting unmarked and finished the ball beautifully. 4-1 We're going up!!!

Of all the games to get a hat trick in! Hope McQuillian can make the step up to League one

It's interesting when you talk about reputation, as annoying as it seems unable to climb the football ladder, it seems quite realistic.

There are different "breeds" of manager, a Sam Allardyce or a Tony Pulis is someone you might look to win a relegation dog fight.

Another "breed" would be people like Eddie Howe and Chris Houghton, managers that have had prolonged success at one or various clubs but just don't seem to attract interest from "bigger" clubs higher up the pyramid.

Good luck in League One!

Reputation in the game is directly tied to winning Silverware and Promotions, I believe, with a little help from Manager of the Year awards. (especially if one beats the odds)

Using my current save as an example: I started unemployed and started at a newly promoted VNN side Stalybridge Celtic. (Dafuge Save). I stayed ten years in that job and was only promoted once (to VNL) but won the VNL Manager of the Year Five Times!  I kept having to fend off offers from Championship sides starting in about year five. I finally took the plunge when Inverness Caledonian Thistle came calling...newly promoted to Scotland's Top League. I survived the first season and built a team capable of making the Group Stages of the ECC over 5 years. I won the Scottish Cup Twice and League once. In my final year I was offered the Team USA job. I worked as both and had my greatest success. I resigned from ICT after winning League and Cup and then took Team USA to the World Cup and made the final 16. (about one level better than expected) There was a lot of shuffling Managers among top teams and the Juventus job came open I applied expecting to be Laughed off... Instead I got interviewed and hired. (I had turned down Schalke and Sevilla before applying)

So my advice is win some trophy's and Leagues...then everything will fall into place.

A lot of that I think has to do with how the clubs are set up. I for one think Pulis is a very talented manager. He does well with very little but my only criticism of him is his failure to adapt to changing times and modern football. Houghton and Howe are both very capable managers and already could manage a top team however English clubs have no patience anymore and opt for the “win now” way of doing business. Hence why homegrown talent is surpassed for a more developed more decorated foreign talent.

Yeah that would explain why I got a good job right after TNS. I had won trophies and personal awards with them. Then my rep took a hit after being sacked by them. I’m gonna do what you did with stalybridge just buckle in and try to win and achieve as much as possible. How are you doin with juve btw? Did the move seem realistic to you?

Hopefully this new owner can give me some money to spend to strengthen the squad with.

I am doing great at Juventus won a treble Serie A, Italian Cup, Italian SuperCup. Made the Quarterfinals of ECC lost to Bayern. Biggest problem is that the team is old...rebuild in future and I can mess it up since I have to win Serie A every year!

All three jobs since Stalybridge have felt a little off...especially the Scottish Job and the Teams wanting interview me before I got sick of just surviving in the VNL (trying youth only) Because what team would pluck a middle age nobody with Sunday rep out of the VNL to manage a close to top level team.

My wages were low even after success $250k/year at ICT. Team USA was $1.8M/year. Juventus is paying me $6.9M/year a princely sum BUT Top players earn $20M+/year.

Pre season is going well and I've found some pretty good players to bring in on loan. We're currently predicted to finish 10th now but I'm not stopping I want to bring in more players.

Something interesting happened when I went to the scouting tab.

For whatever reason quite a few middle eastern players popped up in our scouting network. Why? I have not been able to find an exact cause for this as you can see our scouting package is England only. I have two scouts and both are fully English with only knowledge of their country. I also have no affiliate clubs so I'm not sure what happened here. But either way I am grateful for it because these guys are pretty good and have great personalities.

Unfortunately for us the only way they'd be interested in moving over to England would be if they get a MASSIVE pay raise. They're all making 100 pounds p/w and when they negotiate with me they demand 8k and nothing less so needless to say, I've lost all interest lol.

How are you doin with juve btw? Did the move seem realistic to you?

I guess it could happen though. 10 years at a club is a long time regardless of which league you're in. If you were doing it with only academy players and still managed a promotion I would definitely be impressed by that especially if it was a conference club. Plus all the personal accolades.

Managers are seriously undervalued now a days. Like you said players make 20m plus and the best managers will be lucky to make half that.

League One 2035-36

Its been exactly 20 years since Crawley were in League one. Not a bad way to start after a 20 year absence.

Strengthening this squad was an absolute must. My goal is to shoot up to the Premier League as quick as possible and if everything is done to perfection it will take a minimum of 2 seasons. I lost my best players this summer because most of them were loanees and being that I don't have money to spend on transfers I would have to rely on loans and free transfers mostly. So that screenshot isn't really accurate. I bought one player, but I spent my entire transfer budget on that one player (Jake West) lol.

One of the players I brought in was one of my old players from TNS. They decided to release him and I found him while I was spending hours going through free players looking for deals. He's not the best player I've ever had but for some reason he always played well in my system. I think League one may be pushing his talent to it's limits, but even still having him on the team brings a level of comfort. Fisher is gonna make everything alright...

I also loaned two 18 year old's from West Ham who are immediately starters for my team.

This is how the table looks after August fixtures are finished. During quite a few of the matches I felt unsure we would be able to hold on to the lead. I can tell already that we are probably going to hit a rough patch at some point this season.  I have been playing on attacking mentality since the start and yes we are getting positive results from taking risks, however this Crawley squad doesn't convince me they could go a whole season playing like this just yet.

I'll be back in December

Good Luck on gaining Promotion.

Hopefully your form will hold...but I would scale back the Attacking and try to out do the AI in "Parking the Bus". After a promotion I am always cautious until I get a feel for the league and often go all "Burnley" on them.  It allows me to assess my players and where I need to improve.

I was considering doing that but I stuck to playing how I like and so far we have been playing well.

It's December 3rd and I dont want to jinx it but I think promotion is a real possibility this season. Tactically I have only changed my mentality from attacking to positive and it has been working well. Also;

New chairman is giving us some cash to spend which is great! Normally I don't really do any transfer business in January but I feel it is crucial for us to sign more players in an effort to push us over the top and get automatic promotion. We're only two or three good players away from winning the league I think. My first area of focus is defense. I need another CB and DM. If we can stabilize the defense first and foremost we will definitely win the league.

So after a weekend of no FM I played my first game back after work today;

This was the checkatrade trophy 2nd round and Leyton are a league below so naturally I was disappointed. Also the longest penalty shootout I've ever managed lol

We beat Hull (Championship) in the FA Cup! Huge result for us and currently sitting 2nd in the league now.

Right now it's January 20th and we're doing well but the table is sooo close. A bad run of form could see us drop out of the promotion battle.

It appears my reputation is finally going back up. Cardiff are currently 15th in the championship. However, I don't rate their promotion chances all that much so I don't see myself going there. I will attend the interview though.

Edit: I was in the interview and accidentally hit the space bar which continued the game and the interview was lost forever lol... just my luck
