Thanks for this, out of interest to help me gauge a better understanding in what to look for. What advantages does the first one have over the second one to why you say it is better?

which would you say is better out off these 2 below for FM20

Is a RX560 better or worse than a GTX1050 ?

The processor is better in the 2nd product.

The graphics cards are much the same -

What kind of tablet do I need to play the full version of Football Manager (2020)? Can't find it anywhere after multiple extensive Google searches.

Surface Pro probably would be the best bet - but instead of spending all that money on a system that will run it at a mediocre level, why not spend all that money on a kickass laptop?

The first one I posted was better than the second because, although AMD's Ryzen processors are good with many games because of their multiple cores, the Intel processor in the first one has higher individual core processor speeds, which is what is most important for FM to run well.

With the ones you posted, as @Smurf said, the processor in the 2nd one is better for FM (it has higher single core processing speeds), and the graphics cards are broadly comparable to each other.

So the higher the GHz in the processor, the better it is to run FM well?

I've got one of these, can't praise it enough weighs like 600 grams, lightest Windows tablet you can get but you will have to dial down the amount of leagues and the 3D.  It's my lifeline on my daily commute.

Other than that you're looking at Microsoft Surface or any top of the range Windows tablet really but even they will need the 3D dialled down

Any of these should do it bar the Surface Go

You'll need to taper your expectations though, any tablet will heat up and throttle pretty quickly

Ideally, yes. It's not always that simple, but you can't really go wrong with a higher GHz processor.

That'll run FM19 and 20 really well, and I imagine it'll be fine for a few years yet.

@Smurf hi, I have been offered the following MacBook for a price of £300 by a close friend. In terms of specification it looks more than ok to run fm 20 smoothly however was just looking for assurances that it will be good, thanks mate.

As FM 20 is not even out yet i wouldn't know if it ran it smoothly.

But it should be ok.

Thanks for the reply, was already afraid of that.

Bought a Dell XPS 13 1,5 years ago and really really happy with it.

I'm just looking to buy a tablet to browse the internet and watch stuff in the train, bed, holiday when I don't feel like bringing my laptop etc.

If you could play FM on it as well, it would be a big extra. But apparently you need something far more powerful than a iPad or Galaxy S5e/S6 lol.

Think I will just buy a tablet without being able to play FM, because I'm not looking for a laptop replacement tablet.

Sorry for the sort of unrelated question...

On my new PC I'm gonna have a 500GB SSD/NVME disk as the main one for OS and FM (game AND saves). However, I'm looking to replace my two 1TB HDD with a newer/bigger model, mostly for storage but occasionally for older games and basically anything that I won't be able to put on the SSD .

Oddly enough 7200rpm drives seem to be almost disappeared (from Amazon at least), while 5400rpm ones are dirt cheap... Is the lower price worth the lower R/W speed?

I'd still get a 7200rpm one, but it's Seagate and I don't have fond memories of the old Barracudas and their tendency to die on me way too often.

I would only use the 5400 for storage really

Hello @Smurf I have identified a few different laptops that I’m interested in buying purely for football manager 20. Not worried about the price comparison of these as I’m buying 2nd hand and have found good deals on all so would be grateful if you could help me out and let me know which one in your opinion would be the best choice. I only have the league I’m managing in as playable and the other leagues on view only and always download facepacks and logo’s etc.

I asked for the laptop model/number and it shows on the system spec as - Nitro AN515-41. Looked it up and this is the exact one that matches so presuming it’s correct??

It has lots of cores/threads - which is great for multi tasking - but FM will use as many cores and threads available - it still requires a base speed of 2.2ghz- and this processor has a base speed of 1.1ghz.

FM works a lot in the single thread.

Where it ranks quite high on all the lists I'd recommend to people look at - at 1.1ghz  just seems very low.

I wouldn't be 100% sure on this - @EdL maybe can weigh in?

Does seem a bit of an odd to have such a low base frequency, it all depends on how much it throttles under load. I would *imagine* it will be fine though.

Yeh - the Mac would be better probably - as the Mac Os has the processor requirement at 1.8ghz.

I know most laptops recommended are £600+ but I find hard to justify spending kind of money to just play on FM

Thanks

The processor speed is too low, minimum spec to run FM20 is 2.2GHz that one only runs at 1.6GHz.

The minimum requirements for the game to run are:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 (64-bit), Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64 – 2.2 GHz + Memory: 2 GB RAM. Graphics: Intel GMA X4500, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 – 256MB VRAM. DirectX: Version 11.
