It's basically the screen and the computer are combined into one unit. 

 

Desktop is your next option - however, this is a unit that will sit on your desk. 

You would also need to buy a monitor to go with it - and plug it into the desktop.

 

A laptop can fold up - it's portable. 

 

That's really the three options. 

Desktop gives best value for money - but you would need a dedicated place for it in the house/apartment/where you live. 

All in one would be similar, dedicated place for it. 

Laptop, you can move around easily enough.

 

I wouldn't recommend any of them. 

300 is pretty low - are you sure that's your budget?

Depends on what your budget is, and also what you want to achieve from it. 
Desktop give more bang for their buck and more flexible in terms of build and upgrade. 

If you want a desktop do you need a monitor - is the monitor included with your budget?

Budget is about £1200 give or take. Yes, will be needing a new monitor aswell, to be included in the budget.

Really tough adding in the monitor - went for a 144hz - cheaper side monitor. 

You can configure section 5 to get browser etc you want.

Went a tad over budget but think it's worth it.

I checked the MSI site and can't find any items for this spec. 

You may want to send them the DX Diag and see if they have any updates in their archives. 

They could also recommend any upgrades that are possible. 

It's such an old computer - it's 2011 - it's probably end of life (EOL).

And EOL just means that parts for it are no longer supported or perhaps even in manufacturing or supply any more.

ive managed to up my budget to around 475. I’m looking for a laptop that plays fm -doesn’t need to play any other games really. I’ve found this myself:

Looking for a bit of advice, I'm having to replace my laptop and have a budget of £700 at the most. I only use a laptop for FM and making graphics for FM in photoshop, typically GIF files for video adboards (which can be around 20 seconds long and upto 80Mb in size). In regards to FM I play in the 3D match engine and look to have the top leagues in at least 6 nations in a save, typically my saves rarely pass 4 seasons. I also travel a lot so a sturdy laptop is essential as in the past I have had problems with the screen hinges breaking.

I have looked into the 4 laptops below, would anyone be able to recommend one of the 4 or something more suitable within my budget?

For the price, you can get better in terms of processor, graphics card, RAM and hard drive space. You're pretty much mostly paying for the size with that laptop.

Hi Smurf,

Sorry to ask but I couldn’t find anything in this thread which specifically addresses what I’m looking for, and I know very little about laptops.

Basically I want something around the £500 mark, and the single most important thing to me is that the 3D match engine runs smoothly. I don’t mind average/lower resolution but lag just ruins it for me.

I would give or take 50-maybe 100 pounds but I’d prefer to keep it cheapish.

Really appreciate any help as I just had a bit of an ordeal with a Meridian Erazer which I ended up returning because of laggg.

One is 15 inch the other is 17 inch which do you prefer?

One has a SSD with 256gb storage (not a lot) the other has 1000gb storage (which is a lot).

Which do you prefer.

You will probably need to up your storage later on - either an external USB drive - or add a 2nd hard drive - both easily done.

I was talking to my younger brother tonight and now considering buying him a rig for his birthday/Christmas.
I'm looking to spend about $600 AUD but not completely sure if I can find value for what he wants within that budget.

He wants to run Adobe to edit videos for school, and use it to edit/upload his Fortnite videos. I'd also say some medium/heavy gaming too.

Most computers can run a large database - it relies on a few things:

1) How many seasons you play 1-5 may be  ok - but 10+ or 20+ seasons might be taxing. 

2) If you have leagues loaded, or just in the background

3)  How fast is acceptable for you, for some 1 week for a season is fast, for some it's too slow.

is it a desktop or a laptop?

The cheapest one on that page is $1000+ and your budget is $600? Can you point to other laptop/electrical/online stores in your area?

I'd go for the i7 laptop. It has a better processor for FM (which is very much a single core heavy game, rather than multi-core, and the i7 is a faster processor anyway), more RAM, more storage space overall, and a better graphics card. Performance-wise, the HP laptop you linked to is just better than the ASUS John Lewis laptop, no question.

Downgrading myself with a small budget, max £450 (cheaper the better, would prefer £350-400). Must be a 13-14” screen but will only be using for FM (sparingly) and O365.
