After
Season Review We had a tough start in the league, mainly because of the schedule difficulty, but after that we were pretty consistent and stayed around 14th place. In the end, it was a pretty stress-free season with mainly the same roster as last season. It shows that the club was always made to play in Serie A. It's also nice to see a big bump in the attendance numbers, we're already 59% full on average and it's only the start. I'm quite ok with the team of the season even if Jajalo or Chochev could have been there ; they are the reason we often played 4-3-3. In fact, I'm thinking of using 4-3-3 as our main formation next year. Our depth and quality in midfielder is far greater than in defense and the last months of the season saw our best performances happening with the 4-3-3. After
Transfer Window We had a very comfortable budget this season so I decided to use some of it without becoming excessive. On the other hand, the only player I acquired for the immediate future came on a free. Dzenan Garic is the kind of player I like : very balanced in his attributes with no obvious flaws. He will need to up his stamina but, other than that, everything looks good. Joakim Bergström probably is closer to first team football but I'd still like to loan for now as I think he need to play week in, week out. His physical attributes are impressive. Lucien Agoume will probably see some minutes during the season because of our shift towards 4-3-3. I'm not entirely reassured by his defensive attributes but he has too much talent to not be a good deal. Thaciano is ready to contribute for us but, because of his non-EU status, can't. I was supposed to get one more slot by selling another player with the same status but it didn't work. I'm not sure what I didn't understand. We were lacking some left footed winger so I bought two! Kwon Chang-Hoon could be a great deal coming for free from Dijon while Ajdin Hasic is one for the future. Kwon is not the fastest player but compensate with his technical and mental attributes. In the role I want to use him (Inside Forward - Support), it will not be a problem. I like his traits a lot too.

After
August & September We start the season with yet another early exit in the cup, I was hoping we had a good run but it's not that catastrophic either. In the league, other than the two large defeats against Fiorentina and Juventus, it's been a very good start. The number of away wins is a good sign of progression. Only 7 games in, we can probably already say that we will not participate to the relegation battle. If we stay around 6th place, I'll be very happy. Rewarding our good start, the board offered me a new contract wich I obviously accepted.
After
October & November October was not a good month with us unable to score more than 2 goals even if our defense was not ridiculous. November was a lot better with a win against Roma and probably our biggest win of the save so far against Empoli. Milan looks good this season but we're only 3 points from 2nd place wich is pretty crazy.
After
December Milan collapsed during December and we're part of the reason why. Napoli were a step too much for us but we were impressive during the other games. With this win against Milan we're only 2 points from the 2nd place and, more importantly, 6 points above 8th place. December was also the month another promising player joined us, Christ Sangaré coming on a free from ASEC Mimosas.

After
January What a month! Four wins out of four is always good but it's even better when one of the games is away to Juventus. Lazio, Fiorentina and Sassuolo are having a difficult season but it's still difficult teams to play against. Napoli lost 2 games in January wich means we're only two points from the top of the league but the main story here is we're virtually guaranteed to play at least in Europa League next season. After
Transfer Window January was also the chance to buy some young strikers that were too cheap to not seize the opportunity. Some of them are considered foreign players but it's not really a problem as I didn't plan to use them right now. The main problem with Ivan Menezes Santana is his personality and concentration. Other than that, he has all the tools to already have an impact. Behnam Yaghoubi is less complete but seems to be a better finisher. Here is the two transfers I'm more excited about. Gradimir Varga is very mature for an 18 year old and could already be one of our options up top but will have to wait next season while Jamal Noël looks incredibly talented and can also play on the left wing. After
February - March Another great couple of months culminating with an away win to Inter thanks to our defense wich is the best in the league. All that means we are now... *checks notes* ...1st in the league! With an 4 points cushion on 2nd placed Napoli!
Hootieleece
Terrific work! Hope you can hold on. Lazio is the surprise of the league. They must have a bunch of old slow players with big contracts in the starting XI.
After
New Intake I like this year's intake, mainly because of two players : Gianvito Calcagno and Cristian Carrà. Calcagno is already quite impressive mentally and physically, he only to progress technically. Even there, a starting attribute of 14 in passing is exciting for his future.
After
April It was almost perfect again but we can't be too disappointed about a draw away to Roma. Our defense have been terrific again with no goals conceded this month. Which makes it eight games in a row without conceding. Unfortunately, with four wins, Napoli are still breathing down our necks and we play them next game.

After
May Well, it looks like it was not to be. We were not that bad against Napoli but it was always gonna be difficult. After that, some key players got injured and their replacements didn't perform as well. We finish only three points behind Napoli but I'm not sure we can take into account their last two games. In the end, it's still the best league position ever for Palermo and a big success for a team who were in Serie B two seasons ago even if there is still some disillusion. Next season will be big for us as we're playing in Champion's League for the first time and we'll need to adapt ourselves.
After
Season Review That league position graphic is still painful, mainly because this opportunity will probably not presents itself again soon. But the text above summarize well our season : we were expected to struggle but secured an unlikely continental qualification spot. I would have liked to do better in the cup, it will be harder next season with CL games added to our list of fixtures. Our top goalscorer, Kevin Cannavò, have only scored 12 goals. Two reasons for that : we were not that good of an attack and he didn't play as a starter at first. He earned his starting position with good performances and a lot of progression in training. He was in the U20 team at the start of this career but is now one of our best performers. Same for Gennaro Ruggiero and Fabrizio Alastra wich fare well for what happens next. I'll probably review the first team players after the transfer window to show you the newcomers. Also nice to see Kwon Chang-Hoon here as the player with the most assists, it proved to be an very successful choice to get him in.

After
European Union This is a very good news for us. It will help players like Gradimir Varga to play without taking the place of others.
After
Transfer Window It was quite a big transfer window for us as the squad is ageing and we needed an influx of quality, and depth, with the Champion's League on top of Serie A. Alberto Brignoli was a good number two but he wanted to be a starter and I can't blame him. So I accepted to let him go and Lasse Hagelskjaer came to replace him. He got everything to be a good goalkeeper and can be a decent passer even if his First Touch is problematic. He isn't slow which I like too. I've done a total revamp of our wing back options with two starters coming in. We needed fresh blood with Alessandro Salvi and Antonio Mazzotta getting old. Also, I wanted options more reassuring defensively. Frederik Nørrestrand is another player from Denmark who I like a lot. He's not perfect mentally but have all the time to progress and his Tackling is already top class. Zlatan Sehovic is us already taking advantage of Serbia joining the European Union. There is a lot of talents there and I have no doubt Sehovic will be great for us. I continued with an italian wonderkid for which I payed more than usually but I felt in love with the profile of Adalberto Brusco. I have really high hopes for him and he'll get the opportunity to have an impact immediately. I see him as an Advanced Playmaker or Roaming Playmaker that could be the link between midfield and attack and help progress the ball by passing or dribbling. He just need to work a bit on his Dribbling and Acceleration attributes. To finish, Andrei Florescu looks like a steal for a cost of only 1M€. He has the perfect profile for an Inside Forward - Support which is the role I'm using.

After
August We started well with our defense still going strong and Gradimir Varga having an impressive impact. After
September We continue to respect the hierarchy in the league with a loss against Milan, a win against Cittadella and a draw against Roma, all "logical" results. After
October An undefeated month even if draws against Sampdoria, Torino and Brescia are far from ideal. Also, a very good result against PSV. We came down in the table with those draws but still are only 5 points behind Milan. No win in 3 games for Real Madrid is a big surprise but it's the reason we have made a good start towards qualification.
After
November Other than the short defeat versus Inter, I'm really happy with how this month went. Our attack woke up against PSV and Cagliari but we also conceded only one goal all month. The result against is the obvious high point of the month. In the league, we starting to be distanced by the group of four teams (Inter, Juventus, Milan, Roma) playing for the title. In the Champion's League we are, very surprisingly, already assured to finish first of the group!
Hootieleece
The Champions Cup money will continue to help with your project. Even if board doesn't want it as a goal. Always aim for top three. After
December Not the perfect month in the league with only two wins even if we did well to not loose against Juventus. In the Champion's League, Real Madrid won the last game which qualified them.

After
Transfer Window As usual, the January transfer window was more a case of anticipating next season than finding players that will contribute right now. Ahmed Aly could be a starter already but need to wait to get his work permit. His physical attributes are very good and he has no glaring flaw elsewhere. Corrado Millone is talented italian that we had the opportunity to bring for a small fee. A gamble because he's not perfect but a cheap one. This is not a surprise considering our results last season but I signed a 2-year extension which mean I'm now under contract until the end of the 2024/2025 season. After
January A really good month where we won 2 of our 3 away games, one of them being against Napoli. As a result, we now have a 5-points cushion on Napoli and we're only 1 point behin Pescara who are having a incredible year.
After
February The very good news is we continue our unbeaten run, it's 10 consecutive games now (7 wins, 3 draws). We also had a pretty good result away to Bayer Leverkusen, given that the return game is at home and that our defense is the best in the league. Speaking of the league, February was a weird month with all the teams above us losing quite a lot of points. Which means we're now only 4 points behind Juventus and 5 points above Napoli. On the other hand, the bad news is the injury of Thaciano for 8 to 9 months. He was starting to be more and more influential but, with Brusco and Gnahoré, hopefully we can keep our pace. After
March & April We started March with a very good result against Leverkusen even if, as you saw in April, the next step against Liverpool was a bit too high for us. We started with a lot less positive result in the league but bounced back after that with 6 wins and 1 draw in the remaining games, conceding only 1 goal. Which means we're now 2nd in the league and guaranteed to play in Champion's League next season. And the next game is against Juventus! This time the additionnal news is positive as our under 20 have won the Youth League (against Juventus of all teams) which fair well for the future of the club. After
New Intake I'm not that convinced by the depth of this year's intake but two players seem to have a future here. The first is Maurizio Mele which is the one I'm more dubious about. I often find wide players to be full of flaws in the intake and Mele could be one of these with 5 Dribbling and Finishing. On the other hand, his mental and physical attributes are good so wait and see. Benedetto Liuzza I'm much more excited about, his mental and physical attributes and, even technically, his Finishing and First Touch are already very good.
Hootieleece
Not a bad intake....unfortunately the ones with the good personalities are the least talented. Liuzza isn't bad, but I worry about his off the ball skill. He might make a good AMC (Shadow striker) and will definitely useful as a set-piece taker. Mele will make a good winger or wingback if you give him the "Early Crosses" PPM. His Leadership, Teamwork, and Workrate are why he is worth trying to train. Either way you can make some money on these guys.....if they don't work out for your team....at least a million each from smaller teams.

With syle too as we were dominant : 12 shots to 5 and 60% possession. It doesn't say everything but it still means we contained their offense. As you imagine, we're now on top of the table and three teams can pretend to finish the season as champions. Next stop: Napoli!
