Getting ready for another long season

After a busy pre season at St Andrews most fans expectations had arisen and they have more optimism for the coming season. We managed to bring in a couple of loan players to add to the squad, they were:

Robert Huth, a few players were after this lad but he choose to come to Birmingham on loan. Having already played football last season for us it was nice to have him back. The lads got a great hair'do and our fans should be pleased with his lovely hair.

Bruno Gama, one of Si's boys. This lad could come in very handy during the season as he can play in the centre or out on the right wing. Has got competition from Hasan Sas on the right wing but has already shown hes up for the battle.

So everything set in place and the tactic discussed between the team we were ready to embark on another long season. Things didn't start to well,

Blackburn 4-1 Birmingham A terrible performances. Was played off the park and fair do's to Blackburn they destroyed us. Already the panic was setting in.

Birmingham 3-0 Leicester Bouncebackability in its finest form. A tough game on the cards as Leicester like the battle but we sniffed them out and sent them packing.

Tottenham 1-1 Birmingham A tough game on paper as we know what jimmy's teams are capible of and i never get much from this fixture. Game started very brightly and either side were creating chances. We managed to take the lead but were pegged back almost instantly and the game finished ones a piece. A point i will take on the day as we could have lost near the end.

Birmingham 3-1 Fulham

Didnt really out play Fulham in any way but Tekke Fatih is on fire again and taking his chances. Pleased with this result as team start to be ticking now

So apart from the disaster on the opening day things haven't started to bad at Birmingham. Lets hope it continues icon14.gif

So after the first few games of the new season jimmys tottenham has got off to a great start aswell as ants portsmouth. With stevey also riding pretty high in the premiership its looking good early on.

Then there is razor's newly promoted west ham side not doing too bad at the moment even managing to win a couple.

The championship as expected is being dominated by mike and aida and looks as if it could go down to the final game of the season to decide who wins the league come the end of the season.

The league one managers me and fred havent got off to a very good start with us both near the bottom but with rumours flying around that i may actually be prepared to loan a couple of players who knows what will happen. Fred on the other hand has even brought in some loans but it seems they are unable to prevent his team from losing so far.

So another exciting session to come tonight will report back on my progress of my team to see if they can improve upon the poor start. Also report to come from me of last session

So a bit late to report this but here is how last wednesday session went. Too be honest this was one of the worse session i've ever had as all my strikers became injured and i found myself playing some ******** reserves in place of them keeping my team in an awful place in league one.

This session didnt bring much fortune as i lost almost all my games this session including some which i didnt deserve to lose.

The session started with an away game against sheff weds and didnt go well at all as we went into half time 3-0 down outplayed and very tired. 2nd half started off most the same as abbas got shown the red card to take us down to 10 men. However that sending off must of inspired my team more as we played better and managed to claw a goal back to make the final result 3-1.

Next another horrible loss this time against blackpool at home. After outplaying them for more than half of the game it meant nothing as we couldnt hit any on target. They could though and hit 3 in the back of the net to win comfortably 3-0.

After this game the striker crisis got worse as i found myself with only one firt team striker fit enough to actually play so my plan was to put amc gudjohnsen upfront also.

It seemed to pay off for this next game as we beat burnley 1-0 with junior scoring and gudjohnsen getting man of the match.

Cup next and we had easy opposition Chester City we won 3-0 but some bad news was to come as junior got hit with an injury at the start of the 2nd half after scoring 2-0 to take us into the lead. Junior wasnt the only injury as doumbe also came off injured in what was to muck up my season even more after. We won 3-0 in the end after wotton put us in front scoring off a corner in the first half.

Back to the league now and we managed a point against fellow strugglers Huddersfield. With all the strikers it was time for the reserves to shine and after 38 minutes kyle fore chambers put us in front. But a late goal ruined our chances of getting a 2nd league win on the trot.

End of what was a very miserable session for me which made me lose my rag a little icon_smile.gif now which was a game against high flying tranmere. We lost 3-1 and by then i had slammed down my mouse in anger as i was drifting around 18th spot in league one.

Things did improve in yesterdays session though as all my strikers returned from injury and we got back on track a little will be hoping to improve much more tonight and my report for yesterdays session will be done soon until then thats it

boro looking up

after an indifferent start, losing games against the top 3, boro are now starting to look up.

injuries to bierofka (till end of season), crespo, appiah(the day after he joined), heitinga, and every other striker apart from carignano have left boro in a lowly 6th place.

however, we are still only 4 points from 1st, and the only player out injured now is bierofka. admitedly a huge loss, but with downing and kristiansen available boro shouldnt be hit too hard.

england call ups for parnaby and riggott have further underlined the quality oozing through the squad.

transfer wise, hidalgo has joined for a fee of 170k rising to nearly 8m, serhat is to rejoin from chelsea for 2.3m rising to 8m and cavenghi is to join at the end of the season.

leaving the club will be olisidabe and gasperoni to man city for minimal fees, upson to leverkusen 4.7m, aruna to psg 3m and one or two others will be allowed to leave to (possibly crespo on bosman at season end, may keep him another year), mendieta and fernandez are 2 others at opposite ends of their careers who may be moved on, along with morrison (if his attitude doesnt improve and davies)

so 1 week until transfer window, boro in challenging position in the leauge and still in the champions league everything still to play for.

outside of boro, it is good to see jimmy's spurs finally performing to the level they should be, and hopefully razors hammers will raise there game in the 2nd half of the season and stay up

Spurs Start to Shine

After 2 indifferent seasons some of the breathtaking, groundbreaking and at times Holy work that i have put in have put Spurs into 2nd place in the league midway through the season. We are also into the semi finals of the league cup (fair play to Tord Grip who took control of all league cup games) so this looks likely to be our best season yet.

This is without the fact that on Jan 1st Robinho arrives at White Hart Lane for 16m to add to our already potent strike force. Fred, Guerk and Zidan have been performing superbly this season but we have been lucky none of them have suffered injuries as they are really the only 3 world class strikers we have. But in Jan teams should watch out as Robinho will rain down some havoc on the premiership.

So far our defence has been outstanding, at one point going 8 games without conceeding a goal. the 2 DC's in Bovo and Naldo are forming a great partnership and in King at DMC they work so well. Andersson and Zeigler/Atouba provide great attacking full backs and with Proto/Robinson in goal it looks good not only for now but for the future.

New signings this season Ben Arfa and Arteta have added class to the midfield and will rule the premiership for a long time i feel.

All in all im very pleased this season - not only is the team performing while im there but also for Tord Grip in my many absenses. Long may it continue.

Tight at the top

I wont however be getting too carried away, i believe that only 3 pts seperate the top 7 teams so one bad result and we could drop down the table significantly.

Si's Boro are going to be tough challengers (they beat us 1-0 at the riverside) and i can see them getting another top 4 finish. Especially with players they have arriving (its like a Airport terminal at Riverside).

Ant's Portsmouth are climbing steadily as well, and i wouldnt be surprised if they get a top 10 finish.

As for the rest of the premiership, Stevey's Birmingham (who were one of the best teams we played) languish mid table as they continue to frustrate their manager with a lack of consistancy, Razor's hammers are struggling but its early days yet and they can still claw their way out of trouble.

The other divisions dont count really as its all park football out of the premiership - proven by the fact Lee is winning more games than he is losing icon_eek.gificon_razz.gif Although i am willing both him and Fred to get promotion, purely so i have one less click to continue on match days.

Things look up for plymouth as everything starts to go right........for once

So after the rocky last session things looked more promising in mondays one. Although we still lost a few games we managed to win a couple of important games to move us into 13th come the end of the session.

With all strikers injured still except junior it was time to bring a couple of new ones in these were mooney (old git but with his experience could do the job nicely) and Some guy with the first name of Lee cant remember the second icon_smile.gif.

With these 2 new strikers the team looked more solid in the attacking area and when the other strikers were to come back from injury we would have plenty of reserves.

So first game of the monday session was against luton and with the new strikers not at the club yet poor old junior was left on his own to try and salvage some points for us.

The game started off pretty bad and come 30 minutes we found ourselves 1 down. Not a lot happened after that and half time came.

Right from the 2nd half kick off we found ourselves down to 10 men after a rough challenge from Peter Gilbert got him sent off.

With 10 men it was always going to be hard to get anything out of this game but 85 minutes came and guess who yes Junior netted one to give us an unexpected point.

One of those games next where you just cant score no matter how many attempts you had on goal. The game ended 0-0 after being all over wycombe for most of the match and got us another point.

Mooney and Lee had arrived for the next game which was against oxford away. Mooney got his first start and managed to open up the scoring on his debut taking us 1 up.

Junior then added another 2 goals to that in the 2nd half to give us a good win and another clean sheet. Fair play to oxford but they didnt have many chances and paid the price for not doing so.

League cup game next probably one of the biggest games ive played since taking charge of plymouth so far as it was against Simon Murphy's poweful middlesbrough side.

I really didnt fancy my chances in this game but then again who would but suprisingly middlesbrough found it hard to get past my defence and score and on 31 minutes we went 1 up with junior scoring. The first half then didnt really have much more action as half time came.

After a few substitutions at half time we was ready to kick off for the 2nd half and possibly pull off one of the biggest shocks of the season. Unfourtunately for us the 2nd half kicked off and on 54 minutes boro equalised. After that goal we still came close to scoring another aswell as boro did but at full time the score stayed at 1-1.

Extra time kicked off and Simons connection went. Luckily for him though his assistant managed to just pull him through by them scoring a winner on the 105th minute. Full time finally came and it wasnt to be but i still congratulated my players on the spirited performance that they had given.

After that superb game we faced bouremouth at home and i fancied my chances for this one but we sank to a 2-0 defeat with them completely outplaying me. Maybe the last game had something to do with it as some players were unfit maybe it didnt all i know is that i lost.

Vans trophy next against stevenage this was a chance for the reserve strikers to shine as mooney opened the scoring. Dani then scored the 2nd his first goal in ****ing ages. 2nd half then seen another goal with sven di domenico hitting home and then later getting man of the match award. This seen us through into the next round of the cup.

Ebbers finally back from injury and a good comeback aswell winning us this next game against strugglers Bradford. Going 1 up on 21 minutes was a good start and apart from that the first half was a bit dead. Ebbers then added to it in the 2nd half on 76 minutes to put us in a good position but a late goal by them worried me as i thought they were going to claw another one back just glad they didnt.

Final game of mondays session now and ebbers hit one home again against stockport away but they got an equaliser. Craig pead also came off injured which could of been the main reason for conceeding the goal. Overal we dominated the game all the way through just struggled to get the winning goal.

So with us gradually moving up all the time things were looking more promising but with ebbers getting injured again in yesterdays session amongst other players we will just have to see.

Things improved dramatically in yesterdays session which left us in 7th place i will report on that session later but thats it for now.

So another week in fmelc a rather entertaining one as after tonights session it seen fred patten get sacked from his job at rotherham after being mid table with them in league one and saeed getting unexpectadly sacked from man city. Fred got lucky in chosing teams and was able to take control of man city and saeed took control of millwall.

Jimmy's tottenham side is still flying high and in the league cup aswell as simons middlesbrough side which he may expect more from after their 2nd place finish last season.

Ants portsmouth are still hitting in the goals left, right and centre but due to some of his key players going for next season you dont know what kind of effect its going to have on his side in terms of performance when next season does come.

Stevey's birmingham have dipped in form a little late which has seen them move slightly down the table however i think he shouldnt be worrying too much as for the time being he is pretty safe.

Then there is last of the premiership sides razors west ham who after tonights session went on a pretty good win managing a couple of wins to move them off the bottom and just out of relegation after 26 games played.

To the championship now where we have aida's wba and mikes wigan still battling it out for that top spot with each other and sunderland. Its going to be a very good finish to this season yet again for the championship and if none can knock sunderland off the top then playoff's are going to be breathtaking moments again with a few human sides in them.

Although fred got sacked from rotherham he got given a gift by being able to take control of man city a division above rotherham due them being unmanaged at the time of him being sacked. Not really played many games yet with them but with the squad that he has i think he will reach the playoff's at least.

Last of the championship managers probably the most unluckiest one in the clan saeed managing bottom side millwall but too be fair when he took them over they were bottom with no way of getting out but at least now his team can easily catch up with the others and hopefully stay up.

My plymouth now in the lowest league of the bunch had a very poor monday session but after tonights and last nights session i have seen incredible form in my team moving them up from mid table (around 15th) to 4th with games in hand. Currently on a 10 game unbeaten streak if this carries on which i hope it does then we should actually be going up into the championship this season after a 1 year absence from it.

Great weeks worth of sessions as usual members, have a good weekend, post your reports and speak to you all monday session usual times icon_biggrin.gif

All change for Patten as he re-invents himself and moves up in the world

Potential??? Nah The talents already there icon_biggrin.gif Right hmmmm a way to get myself out of this mudhole sounding credable. Then relising the Microphone was actually on with cameras rolling Fred Patten rephrased that. I deliberatly got the sack from Rotherham because i knew City was available. Speaking in a German accent during this interview was a new thing for Patten, and insisting on having a one at the end of his name. Luckily this was all too be explained, because after 20minutes of this 'imposter' insisting on speaking German only, the real Fred turned up. But his first words about his new home won't please the fans, 'How the hell did i end up in this sh----le, well at least its nicer than Rotherham.' Then for the second time with the second Fred relising the cameras were on Fred reiterated. 'I love the club its got bags of potential'.

Leaving the room very quickly after that interview with very shifty eyes, he was driven away in a long strech black limo. Who knows why or for what ever reason he didn't drive away in his own car. And why was there a German posing as him? Will we ever find out? icon_biggrin.gif Well unless i find an hour or so to explain it I doubt it icon_biggrin.gif. But one things for sure he left the room saying the club would be in the prem next year, and what we thought to be him muttering something about being bigger then the pope or something. icon_cool.gif

Plymouth can cope without ebbers............or so it seems so far

So with my top striker marius ebbers getting injured half way through the session it was time for some players to come into the side that wouldnt normally get a first team place. In other words a re-shuffle had to be took on.

So in stepped Dani in place of ebbers while he was out. Hasnt really done much but still a promising young forward.

The first game of last tuesdays session was in the fa cup against lower league side bromley.

I decided to give a lot of youths a run out for this and only a couple of first teamers to save them for the league games. I nearly paid the price as it wasnt until late in the game until my side actually scored the 1st goal.

34 minutes which i consider to be quite late against a team as poor as this was when the first goal happened. Christiansen slotted one home to take us 1 up.

It was mooneys goal that broke the deadlock on 49 mins straight after just coming on as a sub. We controlled the game from there and added to the 2-0 advantage.

The fill in for ebbers than scored and another sub this time gudjohnsen scored the 4th.

Fred's rotherham next and although i was against his assistant he put up a good fight and it could of been anyones game up until the last 20 minutes of the game.

To start off we went 1 down to a freekick on 40 minutes. Ebbers back from injury then scored a goal to even it up at half time.

Again after a few changes we improved and on 79 minutes we was awarded a penalty and wotton finally managed to score it to take us into the lead.

the last minutes of the game and chances were being blown for both teams until the 90th minute where mooney scored to make the final score 3-1 to the good.

This was just the start of good form and it came at a good time as next we faced top of the league (at the time) side preston .

We was all over them and won 2-0 with junior grabbing both goals but really it was down to larrieu making some superb saves to deny them and getting the man of the match award.

A game next which could of been anyones as we faced brighton away. Although brighton wasnt too high in the league it was quite hard to see why they were where they was as they beat us 2-1.

Vans trophy now as we hosted aldershot at our ground. With loads unfit it was time to put some reserves in again. They done the job only just and seen us through to the next round by winning 2-0.

From one cup to another now was the fa cup as we crashed out of it against chesterfield losing 1-0. A pretty even game just they got the better chances and we couldnt breakthrough.

Back to the league and after that cup exit it didnt stop us getting back on track with an inspiring win against brentford. With ebbers back fully fit he was to play and the look on the brentford players faces was pretty sad to say the least.

So they should be as ebbers managed to get his first hat trick since joining the club aswell as o leary getting his first for the club.

Could of kept the 2 goals out though if it wasnt for some errors at the back with star defender abbas scoring an own goal to help them.

This was the start of our great run which is still currently going on at the moment. Lets just hope it lasts.

Next up was torquay away who we managed to beat 2-1 with ebbers being brought down and scoring a penalty and moments later getting a 2nd to wrap things up.

Our enemies who knocked us out the fa cup next so we was out to get our revenge and we did.

Not a highly entertaining game but seen a couple of chances and one goal created out of some beautiful passing by my players. Junior scoring the only goal of the game.

Connolly also got injured which appeared to be minor afterwards although kept him out for a few weeks.

Another away game this time against poor side york. Im glad we won and we kept another clean sheet.

Adam Lallana getting his 2nd start of the whole season and basically winning us the game on his own scoring both goals and getting man of match award afterwards.

Final game of tuesday session and it was a very dull game which anyone could of won.

A 0-0 draw put the positives were another clean sheet but fair play to my reserves for getting the point as more than half my first team players were too unfit to play for it.

So a great end to a pretty good session which gave us an little unbeaten run. This run did continue in wednesdays session and will report on it soon right now though thats it for now and roll on the next session icon_biggrin.gif

Plymouth flying as they continue on their unbeaten league run

Going into wednesday session with very high expectations due to how tuesdays session ended we pulled off some great victories some even i didnt expect.

With very few injuries the whole squad were finally available for most of the games for the first time in ages and boy did we need it at this crucial time of the season.

The session started against oldham who were at the time 2 places above us standing in 5th i think it was.

There was a fair bit of action both ends as expected but 31 minutes was the key moment of the game as gudjohnsen slotted one in the back of the net to make it 1-0 which later turned out to be the winner.

With a few defenders out of the first team due to injuries it was time to bring on youngster scott laird. He had a quality game and it was probably due to him we kept a clean sheet.

He later recieved man of the match. The only other few incidents in the game was minor injuries both struck dani and junior but they were both fine after the game.

A team next which looked as if they were going to beat us as they put the pressure on fully. The game started off bad as one of my players brought down one of theirs in the penalty box.

They scored the penalty to make it 1-0 to them. Then as soon as the 2nd half kicked off junior grabbed an equaliser.

2 minutes later and young star defender scott laird scored off a corner too bring me great delight. But as the clock ticked down and the last few minutes of the game came they scored a late equaliser to make the final score 2-2.

Probably a fair result as both teams had plenty of chances and for part of the game we were struggling a little bit. Keith Lasley got man of the match.

Strugglers swansea next and after being all over them for all of the first half we went into it drawing 0-0.

I thought this was going to be one of those games where we just couldnt score no matter how many chances we had but on 74 minutes we did score and that won us the game. With Tommy mooney scoring due to junior being too unfit to play. This was a big relief and after that result i could put my feet up and have a rest.

From one struggling side to another next as we had to face hartlepool. A great start with junior scoring on the 1st minute of play then ebbers getting a 2nd on 25 minutes. Hartlepool had very few chances and the ones that they did they just couldnt get past the brilliance of romian larrieu in goal.

Vans trophy next a cup that i didnt really care about but would of liked to win. It didnt happen though although we did come close to scoring the game went into penalties.

The longest penalty shootout i had in a while with like 6 or 7 attempts being saved by each keeper. We lost 3-2 in the end and just had the league to concentrate on.

Final game of last session now where we faced 2nd placed tranmere. Without ebbers in the strikeforce due to being banned for the match it was always going to be much harder but with djordic playing his first game in a while he came up with the goods and got that all important goal to end the session with a 1-0 win against top quality side tranmere.

This was very pleasing and i hope we can continue on the good run that we are currently on. Still a lot of games left in the season yet and it could be yet another disappointment for us i just hope it aint so until next report thats it icon_smile.gif

First Trophy of the Clan goes to White Hart Lane

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Spurs fans were celebrating last night after an amazing 2-1 victory over arch rivals Arsenal clinched them the League Cup and first trophy of Manager James Cale's reign.

In an amazing finish - Spurs were down to 10 men for most of match - Cesare Bovo, villain in the previous match against Man United rose to head home an injury time winner and send Spurs fans into a state of delirium. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

First Of Many?

After what can only be described as an appalling start to the new session, we bounced back and created one of the biggest shocks this season by defeating Arsenal and lifting the League cup.

Spurs 1-2 Southampton

With a full strength team i thought we could easily muster 3 points here before our tough run in. I was wrong however as some poor defending gifted 2 chances and Southampton took them both. We seemed to be struggling to score as for the 5th game in a row Robinho and Fred were both away with Brazil in some stupid North American cup. Guerk got our early goal but 2 late goals meant we started badly.

Man Utd 6-0 Spurs

Utter Sh!te - Suspensions, injuries and International duties meant this was going to be a struggle. But 3rd min goal meant it was uphill all the way. Then Rob Styles angryfire.gif decided to book Zidan twice in 10 mins and so after 15 mins we were down to 10. This started a capitulation with Proto in goal the main culprit. By half time United were 6-0 up and i had lost the plot. 3 subs and a change in tactics so us draw the 2nd half 0-0 but morale was down and we had a london Derby against Arsenal, an FA Cup 5th rd match and league cup final to come. icon_frown.gif Bovo and Proto were the main losers though as they bore the brunt of my anger after cr@p displays.

Spurs 2-1 Arsenal

With Robinho and Fred back we could put out a strong team and it paid off. An early Davies pen put us ahead, a lead which we defended until the 50th min when Henry equalised. But along came Fred as the super sub got the winner with 10 mins left. A great performance especially considering the last result.

Spurs 3-0 Coventry

So many tight games recently but the fixture list has been kind with some good gaps inbetween. It meant we could field our cup final side 8 days before the big day. In truth me murdered EC side Coventry but our finishing was poor. Robinho, Fred and Guerk got the goals but was pleased with Ben Arfa, Arteta and Robinho's form before going into the final. A win though put us into the 6th rd draw where we will face Derby.

League Cup Final 2006

Arsenal v Tottenham

Great rivals produce one of the best games ive seen. We started well with Fred and Robinho having chances, Arsenal too had 1 great headed chance that wasnt taken. We made them pay as soon after that Robinho scored a stunner and we were 1-0 up. Chances fell to both sides but at HT the scores remained 1-0.

We began to feel the pressure though as Arsenal pushed forward - in the end a debatable penalty was given for Robinson pushing at a corner. They converted and it was 1-1 after 65mins. A cautious next 20 mins soon erupted in the final 5 minutes.

First King was sent off by Rob Styles angryfire.gif which meant a reshuffle. Then came the most end to end 5 mins ive seen - Robinho missed a great chance, Reyes put through Henry but Robinson saved - back to the other end as Fred one on one with the keeper but Lehman denies him. From the resulting corner Arsenal break upfield it comes free to Henry robinson dives at his feet and Henry touches it on to the incoming Reyes, an open goal........and he misses!! After i got up off the floor Robinson took the goal kick quickly as we moved into injury time. Zidan down the left fired in a great cross as robinho dived to meet the ball only for lehman to save. Corner to Spurs as Davies whips it in, Robinho with the header - saved on the line!. Its another corner as im struggle to relay the amazing nature of the game in the chat room - in it comes from Davies, Bovo gets there first!! GOAL!!!!! 2-1 in the 3rd min of injury time. There is no time for a comeback as Spurs win the league cup icon_biggrin.gificon_cool.gif

An amazing game and our first silverware so far.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Im over the moon, the guys were superb. When we went down to 10 men i thought we needed to hang on until penalites but the boys showed the kind of determination and effort that would make any manager proud. Im pleased for Cesare as he took some stick after the United game, some fair some not. But he came back with a great performance and a great goal that gives the fans something to celebrate. This though doesnt make our season and were now looking to add a top 5 finish and hopefully the FA Cup too </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Chelsea 3-1 Spurs

Without the suspended King and Arteta this was going to be a tough fixture. We fell behind to an early Luque goal but Robinho got us level after a period of sustained pressure. After half time though Chelsea's class shone through and with some clinical finishes they were 3-1 up after 52mins. The game petered out a bit with a few chances to either team and it ended 3-1. A loss but an expected one so im not too bothered. All our tough games are out of the way now, barring Boro at home, so im hoping we can build on the League cup success and finish strongly and get that top 5 finish.
