New Laptop/PC- Help Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi, how will this cope with FM17? It is 300 but can get another 20 off it?

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/asus-x555la-full-hd-15-6-laptop-black-10135223-pdt.html

I need to get 2 laptops, one for my partner to work on and one for kids to do homework and maybe play some older games like Civilization, age of empires etc. On one of them I want to play FM17. Only reason for wanting seperate one for kids is so they don't fill our main one with viruses. Do you reckon this is a false economy and better to buy one higher spec laptop and just keep likes of avast and malware bytes up to date?

Morning all,

So, what do we think are the best Black Friday deals?

My budget is between £600-£750

Previously I had been interested in:

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-16J612-408-MSI-GL62-6QD-408UK_1955707.html

But this is the same price as when it was listed by Welshace a couple of weeks ago on this forum, so I was wondering if anyone's spotted some genuine Black Friday bargains!

Cheers

Wing Wizard

Anyone able too answer sorry to be a pain

FM will run fine, if I recall, the surface pro 4 has the 6200u... that said, overheating is a real issue tbh, so something to think about maybe....

All just theory as i've never tried gaming on a surface pro

edit: ah  the 6300u sorry

You can buy cooling pads and cases that help..  it all depends on how hard you run the game I guess... the cooling systems on sp4's arent that bad tbh... maybe i'm being harsh..

Might be worth looking at online reviews on the cooling etc.. as I said, not really experienced with the surface pro

Hello found a laptop that meets all system requirements for FM . The only one I'm unsure of is the graphics card.

It has Intel HD5500 , does anyone know if this will run FM?

Thanks

chris

I'm fairly sure that's better than my current graphics capability and I am able to run 3D ok on medium detail. I think the spec you've given will run FM but might be on the slow side.

@Welshace, how does this acre compare to the Msi very deal you just posted:

http://www.ebuyer.com/757793-acer-aspire-f-15-laptop-nx-gd6ek-009

it is i5-7200, 8gb Ram, SSD, and dedicated graphics (Gtx 950). It is 600 but can get 0 finance through PayPal so tempting. It is an acer though and I've seen on some forums people slate their build quality. Which do you reckon is better?

Thanks , the rest of requirements seem to meet FMs . Order placed so fingers crossed

@Welshace

Would you say these two are exactly the same:

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-179553-626-MSI-GP72-6QF(Leopard-Pro)-626UK_1942005.html

http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4811044

In the Argos title it says 1TB but no reference to SSD; however, the description makes reference to 128GB SATA-III hard drive but not to the 1TB :D

Do you reckon it will have both?

Yours here is better no doubt....

Acers get a bad rep, but frankly, i've found them perfectly fine...while obviously remembering they are a budget brand of course... so expect it to be slightly plastic like.

Thanks @Welshace, will give it a couple of hrs to see if anything else pops up and if not I'll take the plunge.

Thank you for your help much appreciated before I buy would this be a better one to buy over the pro 4 http://www.johnlewis.com/lenovo-yoga-900-convertible-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-13-qhd-touch-screen/p3037979#media-overlay_show

I love the yoga range.... it is almost better in every way that matters over the pro 4... albeit, with a slightly weaker cpu...but not really anything noticeable in real world performance.

The Yoga range are generally thought of as the best 2in1 laptops around... and my own experience with them tells me the same...

In fact, the only two better than the one you linked above i've used are the dell xps i7 model and the slightly better Yoga i7 model here:

oh... this is the yoga 710, rather than the 900.. but the specs are tip top in return for a slightly less attractive build and a few less ports...sort of a compromise really.

That's the i7 6500u  too    ...

Finally ordered my new laptop today

http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-7566-laptop/pd?oc=cn56605&model_id=inspiron-15-7566-laptop

It cost £835 with the 12% dell black Friday discount.  I was also looking at the MSI with similar specs  on save on laptops which had been reduced to £699 but as I can just about afford the extra £136 I opted for the dell as the build quality seemed a lot better.

I brought this one in the end as got 12% off plus an extra 8% cash back I think it's a good deal.
