Cheers Welsh! I know its not the greatest spec but its only £250 and its for an Xmas prezzie for my son so I'm limited on funds! what is the most important factor to look at for requirements for the game? do you think it would be the processor?

I am looking for some advice on what graphics card to get to complete my new PC build I am putting together purely for FM. Card needs to have a minimum of 2GB and at least two display ports. Not fussed whether it is Nvidia or AMD. I don't do any other gaming any more so don't need no ultra high-spec graphics card.

Current parts are:

  • Intel i7-6700K
  • Asus Z170 Maximus Gene MB
  • 16GB PC-3200 DDR4 RAM

Waiting on a new Samsung M.2 960 SSD card for maximum storage performance.

Hi all.

Can anyone advise me which ones better out of these two...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-ROG-GL552VW-DH71-HID1-i7-6700HQ-2-6-3-5GHz/dp/B016ZPSJW4

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/N551VW-FW238T-ASUS-N551VW-FW238T_1829315.html

Or can anyone recommend a different one at a similar price. Only needed to play on FM,  that will process fast, but mainly that'll will last long, and continue to run FM year after year (as my old laptop only lasted 3years). Any help would be much appreciated, cheers

Not a huge difference between them... the saveonlaptops Asus gives you a better spec though as it has a better option with the HDD and is cheaper

Hi fella.. there are several z170 mobo's and several maximus gene mobo's.. hard to nail down which one you have...

That said, the best place to look for compatible parts is partpicker uk imo ... great website .

Hi, I have bought fm17 and started playing on my current laptop which has proven to be very slow and laggy which is understandable as its getting old. So i was just wondering if anyone has any tips or can suggest a new laptop to buy? My budget is no more than £600, but it doesn't have to be amazing just good enough to smoothly run fm

Thanks

  • Processor Speed: 3.8GHz x 2
  • Graphics Processing Type: Integrated ATI Radeon 8370D
  • Memory: 8GB

hi there... you will find countless suggestions in previous posts in this thread that suit your budget.. really is worth just looking at what you want..

It's like suggesting a car to buy.. we can't do it unless we know what you want from it other than it needs to play fm,

Barely, the cpu is technically above minimum specs I think but very weak, even though it's got a fairly high clock rate.

As has been mentioned several times in the thread.. star rating isn't something you can pinpoint as it's all relative to the load your pc is under at the time of starting the game.. i.e .. if you are watching a film or playing music the same time you will get a lower star rating etc...

Hi everybody

I'm looking at getting a new laptop, the main aim of it is honestly just to play football manager. I don't need it for anything other than that and maybe watching streams/films/tv/videos. I won't be playing any other games so don't need a specific gaming laptop as it will be just football manager I will be playing. No other requirements are needed for my laptop other than football manager and watching things.

my budget is between £400 and £800. Whichever I can find that will be the best for what I need it for would be appreciated if I could get suggestions. I have found one that I put at the beginning of the post but unsure whether a £700 laptop is needed for what I have suggested I require. I want a laptop that will be able to handle 5-10 leagues and process through it quick, also one that is really quick to boot, use.

Id appreciate some help or guidance. Thanks

I'd avoid high street brands like John Lewis for laptops: you'll probably get more for your money from somewhere like www.saveonlaptops.co.uk

That said, the one you've linked will run FM perfectly fine for the criteria you want. Plus, provided your OS is loaded onto the SSD, it should boot up pretty quickly too.

Hi everyone, laptops are expensive arent they?

http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5449075

Im looking at this laptop, I could possibly stretch to another £50 more budget wise but I will pretty much only be using it for FM and web browsing.  Will it run FM?

Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks

I have to admit I didn't read each page of this topic, so sorry if I asking the same.

What are the most important things to play FM?

I know I need at least 8GB RAM, and decent graphic card and processor, but I'd like run many leagues  and I don't know how this game works.

What about HDD and SSD?

When I searching players I see that the game not works fluently and I need wait about 2-3sec to load all list. I understand that game searching in database in HDD, and my 5400rpm HDD works too slow.

What about processing matches? For example each day when in each playable league are played matches I must wait longer than normal day. I understand now the most important is processor and my i7-2670QM is not best choose.

Graphic card is not so important, because it's used only while watching match or I'm wrong?

I'm looking new laptop in budget about 1500 euro. I think about something like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-GE72VR-Apache-Pro-009-17-3-Laptop-i7-6700HQ-16GB-DDR4-256GB-1TB-GTX1060-6GB-/252516843957?hash=item3acb2d41b5:g:EqsAAOSwFdtXw3Sm

any advice?

@marcin110987 Cpu is king... 8gb ram is fine, and a dedicated graphics card definitely helps..

An ssd only helps you load and in theory, save the game.. nothing else really..

Everything else is processing with the game.. which is all the CPU ... an i7 6700hq is perfect for the game and probably optimum without going all out on budget on a real desktop cpu.

Have a look here for inspiration:

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/top-gaming-laptops

the top link (the msi gl62 with 6700hq is just about perfect for the game.. although the cheaper version below would run the game great too..)

That's just to give you an idea really, it's ultimately up to you how much you want to spend etc

Hi, I'm looking at a new desktop build and wanting to keep cost down have you any idea how good a Intel I5 6400 0r 6500 would be both 6th generation??

....Sorry I should add I'm more interested in how many leagues it'd allow me to run roughly at a reasonable speed. I currently play 25 leagues at one and a half stars on an i7 4700mq, Alienware 17

Hello guys,

Could somebody please tell me what difference I can expect with these two options:

http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-700-series/IdeaPad-700-15ISK-/p/80RU00G3AU

http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/deals/current-offers/gaming-pcs/Notebook-IP-Y700-15ISK-I7-16G-1T-256-10H/p/80NV00FWAU

Obviously the second option is nearly $1000 more expensive, but what am I getting that's worth that much more? I am looking for a solid laptop mainly for work (lots of excel spreadsheets) and then some FM, but I also want something that's somewhat future proof for the next few years.

Cheers!

You aren't getting much more for your money at all with the y700 ... you get a better HDD/SSD combo and a better graphics card.... neither are really worth the extra.

Thanks Welshace, that's what I thought. Do you think the 700 is a decent spec machine? Will it run FM well, and are there things missing that it should have to run well. Hope that makes sense!

Most of the major manufacturers have put up their prices in recent weeks due to the low pound/dollar. If you know the model which you are after, direct message it to me, I work in I.T so might be able to get a good price.

Hello everyone.

Just wondering, what is the best apple mac laptop out there that would run FM2017 smoothly on? Me and the missus are looking to get one each, mainly so I can play FM on, and so she can do some of her work on for her job.

If anyone can recommend, that would be great.

Many thanks.

Take this with a pinch of salt... but why macs? they have always been, and will always be, a pain in the proverbial for gaming... particularly something as process intensive as FM..

So finally ordered my laptop tonight which is coming Saturday. I ordered the below from Save On Laptops:

http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-179553-626-MSI-GP72-6QF(Leopard-Pro)-626UK_1984222.html

Anyone bought from this company before? I have read a few reviews on Trust Pilot whilst the majority are good, there are quite a few people who have complained about them, especially their after sales service when there has been problems.

I ordered from here as its by far the cheapest price I have seen for a 17" laptop with the specs its got and you get an upgrade to 16GB of RAM.

Can FM 17 (desktop version) run on ASUS Transformer Book T100 ?

  • Windows 8.1 (32-bit)
  • CPU: 1.33 GHz Intel Atom
  • CPU CORES: Quad-core
  • GRAPHIC: Intel HD Graphics
  • RAM: 2 GB

Worried if the FM cannot fits in.  Planning to purchase online.  I've seen the requirement specs for FM 17 but just need some confirmation and advice.

Thanks in advance.

Just had my payout for £600 for my damaged laptop so ready to buy a laptop for fm17, I would like to play around 10 leagues and a large database and play matches in 3D! Would like a 17inch screen but if can get a bette cpu and graphics card in a smaller screen then I'll be happy! I want the game to play as fast as possible and want to have facepacks etc! Will use laptop for Internet and watching movies! I've posted a few times but want to be 100 percent sure before buying it, also could stretch my budget to £700 for right laptop.

Thanks
