Not in general. When you first load them it will take some time, but after it, FM is using the cache, so it does not have to be loaded again and again.

No - stay away from processors ending in U - stick to i5 or i7 and no "U" at the end.

It should run well on that computer, but there are some issues with nvidia graphics cards, so you have to wait and see.

Hi all, 

Firstly thanks to all and especially @Smurf for all the advice on this thread, I have certainly avoided a bad purchase thanks to it.

From everyone's posts, I have narrowed my selection down to the following:

They all claim dedicated graphics also, but I'm clueless in trying to compare them. Ideally, I would like to run 3D matches on at least low-medium graphics.

Would be greatly appreciated if anyone can advise on the above 3 options? Or, if anyone can recommend anything else within the £600-£650 range: really looking for a 3-5 year laptop for FM, and watching films, streaming etc. (Could potentially stretch to £700).

Why Mac? They are so expensive for a shiny box - you can put together a much better spec'd machine on PC Specialist for half the price.

No - and you wouldn't notice unless you had a ssd already. 

However, upgrading to an SSD is simple enough and cheap to do at a later stage.

I've been reading this thread since FM17 came out a year ago but still not pulled the trigger and bought a laptop. Not played since '15 and no idea what I'm buying so don't want to spend money and end up with a slow performing machine. Willing to spend up to £750-850 and only want it to play FM as quickly and smoothly as possible. Any recommendations?

Hey smurf the zx553 is getting some bad reviews, albeit on ebuyer, but it’s leaving me a bit sceptical, any other laptops in that price range? Think I will give the Mac a miss then, and the desktop, will look for a laptop

You should be able to buy an adapater - without knowing exactly what cables and ports you have it's hard to know.

Yes I've the read the reviews, and a very worrying one from an IT Specialist who said that by the look of the picture it had an optical drive, however, it states it does not have an optical drive - concerns me as how much of a specilaist is this IT person who can't read the specs of a computer they are buying???

I once read a review for a hotel by a lake by a person who visited in winter at 8pm could not see the lake because it was too dark  - and the next day it was shrouded in fog...

Hey Smurf,

Im trying to run a large database for FM. As of right now im getting about 35,000 players. Im trying to get up to at least 75,000. My laptops spec is an Intel Core i3-3110m CPU 2.40GHz 6GB RAM 64- bit operating system. I get 3 stars for game speed. What do you suggested i upgrade to increase the number of players and game speed? Do i need more RAM or a faster PC? Also, I dont play on 3d graphics so this is something i dont need. Thank you.

Better PC is all you can do. It's unlikely that you can replace the Processor.

Better processor is the way forward.

My Monitor is a VGA cable & my Graphics card must be a DVI? It has 24 holes in it 3 lines of 8.
