What do you guys think about this desktop: http://www.dell.com/uk/p/xps-8910-desktop/pd?oc=cdx89103&model_id=xps-8910-desktop

It's available with 12% off and 8% cashback. I've struggled to find anything comparable having trawled various other sites.

Budget?

But the one you have there is fine ... great cpu, good ram, great hhd/ssd... graphics card is a let down though.

How do I transfer a save file from my old laptop to my new laptop on FM17 ???

You'll find your save files:

C:\Users\*yourusername*\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2017\games

Save the file you want to a usb thumb drive or upload the file to dropbox or similar sites for download later onto your new laptop..

You can also use cloud saving within the game, although one step at a time..

the bottom one is better for FM in terms of raw performance, the top one is more portable has an SSD and will have much better battery life, personally i'd have the bottom one all day long though, you'll be able to run more leagues, pure and simple.

If you can stretch to it this blows them both out of the water:

Also on the off-chance that anybody wants a 17 inch laptop with one of the latest mobile graphics cards, this below is a great deal for £855.00 if you use the voucher code LAPTOP10 at the checkout

just wish I had the cash!!

not too much different really, I guess the first one is more expensive due to the small form factor

Found this laptop cheap in the sales and although I have a good laptop it's big and heavy where as this one I've found is small, weighs only 1KG and has 8hr battery life so I can use it on the train commuting to and from work etc.

I don't mind playing on minimum settings but I do want the 3D match engine.

Here is the laptop: http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5163519

I doubt it would run it at all to be honest, Touch would probably be okay though

I imagine the 3D would be out of the question

*edit* looked into it a bit more and it looks like it would just run it however 3D is as suspected completely out of the question

Hi, my new laptop had to be returned for repair but still wanting to play FM I used a lenovo 100s to get my fix. Using all standard leagues from England, Scotland and Wales with a large database it worked and so did the 3D match engine although it was on minimal settings. I was pretty surprised that it worked at all to be honest. However as you can imagine processing was slow. Also personally I found the screen too small.

I think FM will run in some form on almost anything, I also had it running on a pretty ancient Samsung R519 with a T4300 (?) processor. It all depends on what you deem an acceptable speed. However I can imagine long term saves on either of those machines would be painful for anyone!

ta. Will go with the £600 MSI, could stretch a bit more but the i7 is bit of a leap at an extra £170. I find this thread better than specialist sites when it comes to upgrading so as always, thanks to the community.

@Welshace,

What do you make of this deal?

http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4811044

Didn't really want something as big as 17", but looks a good deal with the extra 10% off available.

Thought this looked okay too:

http://www.ebuyer.com/749014-msi-gl62-6qf-apache-pro-gaming-laptop-9s7-16j562-1089

What do you think is the better deal?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Same spec and build in both laptops ... you are literally just paying extra for a bigger screen...  go with the 15'6 one

I think the i5 is £200 more. didn't know if it was worth it or how much of an upgrade it would be from my Samsung galaxy note pro 12.2.

It's currently £699 or this one which I brought yesterday http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-13-5378-2-in-1-laptop/pd?oc=cn53705&model_id=inspiron-13-5378-2-in-1-laptop

Hi everyone. Help needed! Want to buy a new laptop, all i will really use it for is FM. Whats the best laptop or gaming laptop out there right now with a max budget of £700/£800? I usually watch games in 2D but want to start watching in 3D due to match engine improvements.

Thanks in advance!

Take your pick from the dozens of links posted in the last few pages with that very price range.

Thoughts on this, anyone? Would it run FM well with numerous leagues loaded and have good 3D match engine graphics?

Would run the game fine... depends what you consider numerous leagues and with that graphics card i'd expect medium to high graphics to run fine.

Thanks for the help! Would it run fast with about 5 playable leagues loaded? Is there a big difference in graphics quality between medium and very high?

Hard to quantify what fast is.. it's all relative.. but it would run 5 leagues fairly fast in my eyes yes.

There is a difference between medium and high yes, but frankly, i run on low on my system, so it's hard to say.

This is the laptop I bought. For me it runs FM very well although I only ever really do the UK leagues. It also runs GTAV, Fallout, IL2 etc. I think its great although I never really had a gaming laptop before to compare it too. However it did have an issue and I had to send it back to be repaired after less than a month. You can read some bad stories online about buying with them and repairs and there were times I was wondering if it'd be fixed and I spent ages initially trying to fix it myself. In the end it was ok though and they sent it back fixed no issues after 2 weeks.

oh PS, I got my one from them like 2 months ago for £569. If anyone is interested in buying from Medion sign up to their newsletter first they will sometimes send discount codes.

after extensive research, I've decided on this laptop - any thoughts?

much appreciated

I'd go for this for an extra £50: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-16J522-817-MSI-GP62-6QE(Leopard-Pro)-817UK_1969472.html

Better processor and whilst it has 8gb compared to 16gb, it is DDR4 compared to DDR3. You can update to 16gb if you need it later on.

Edit - missed the SSD on yours. That might sway it for me.

Hi guys,

My MacBook Pro MD101 sadly died on me yesterday *RIP*..

So i'm on the lookout for a new laptop for FM use only.. (I've already got a laptop given by my work go get workbased things done).

A new MacBook would be lovely.. But i'm not willing to pay that much for a PC/Mac, when it's only purpose is FM..

But it's kinda important that the screen is between 13-14" :-)

I found this Dell which i'm really close to ordering.. Because i first off all like the 499 pound pricetag. But features like backlighted keys is also kinda nice to have.

The only question is how well the Intel Core i3 6100U will run the game? I compared it to the Intel Core i5 there was in my MacBook and the i3 was a lot better benchmarked.

Should I buy???
