i don't think it's the tactic because in a different save  with a different tactic i managed to get promoted  in the first season i had the same second season syndrome.

Do you use trials and check players when less than 6mths left on contracts., but this needs to be carried out early. I did a scout package for 1  and found 1 decent player.

no, i don't use trials, i use scout reports and the  "playing time" they want when offering them a contract. first team/key players are the ones i sign but unfortunately i cant seem to find them so i sign young players that were released from clubs in higher division who are "hot prospects" .

those hot prospects earned me a promotion to Vanarama premier but now it doesn't work. i tried reloading and signing new hot prospects but it didn't work.

rials are a very quick way to scout - just invite as many released players as possible for a trial and pick the best .

Scouting early for Hot prospectsshould work but they need to be good enough for the next level as always looking for promotion/

There is a lot of wage budget left so there is a chance to pick up better players during the season.

sIf you look at GS you can see how far behind the squad is compared to other National sides. If you look at squad and best players they are at South level. The squad needs a lot of improving.

Should be some a few pages back as an old tactic that did well in independent tests

I don't allocate (specify a player) corner takers and the game still allocates rather than use nominated. Taker(position) is set up in routine.

@knap firstly, thanks a lot for your work on these tactics. Each revision of FM I start by trying to create my own tactics and fail. I always use your tactics and start to enjoy the game again!

If I can make one suggestion, it would be this:

Do you think you could develop a clearer naming scheme for the tactics? There are so many revisions its very confusing and hard to find the correct version. Especially when sometimes you load them in the game and they have a different name from the file.

I like the fact some tactics have a name such as Pilgrimage, but its confusing to have different formations with the same naming scheme.

Just some feedback to take or leave, I think your work on these tactics is great and I really appreciate it.

The naming system was developed mostly around the old tactic systems of fluid/ flexible and most of the tactics this year were translation from old to new.

If I buy FM 20, FM 19 has been very disappointing, then it would probably be a new naming system

The only picture I can find where the 4-1-4-1 tactic is updated is this one. Its from the !!!!!FM19.3.4PILGRIMAGE4141KnapP105EC.fmf tactic. Do you think the P109FA tactic will do a better or at least similar job?? The player ratings are extremely satisfying from following pic:

My preference is for 4141 is ALL CUPS NO LOSS P106 winning PL with Newcastle or 4132 P112 ALL CIPS NO LOSS winning PL with Wolves.

The P109FA was very good in testing with SUB MID and best Sub Mid Away tactic, the P107 EC is not far behind and the WULF 4141 also works well..

I don't really bother with roles, compared to how a tactic performs. However, with those roles there is the 4141 P106 ALL CUPS NO LOSS and the(p103) p106 442, but I would not discount the 4132 P112 ALL CUPS NO LOSS

General FM 19 problem and a PF tends to be a more defensive.. It is not the optimum tested option and will change the tactic structure so It may or may not work.

Second season with Huesca

After the great first season we were able to win everything in our second season.

The first season I used the PILMARGE4141 only and the season season I used at home the BEOWULF442P110 and away the PILMARGE4141.

I think this combination is the strongest in FM19. Look at my transfers, I was able to get some loans and some career-ending players

Will update you guys here how it's going in my third season

Exactly, I don't care for the opposition. Of course if the match doesn't go so well I'm switching sometimes to get something new in that match.

Away we lost 7(!) matches and had  two draws. I nearly lost every CL away match in the final rounds.

 

@knap As I can see you tested many of your tactics with the Wolves.

What is your experience in this case? I would like to know, if it should be better to use the 4141 or the 4132 or any other tactic as an away solution?

Apart from the home bias I've not seen the effect of reputation working in the sae way as in past years and the AI are getting as good results using attacking mentalities. On the basis that very attacking mentality can work well there is more opportunity for the AI at home.

Any high pt P&P tactic has to be strong away but with weaker teams it is tactics  that use a DM that dominate. Wolves work well with 4132 but Newcastle find 4141 the better option, but I would tend to start with a 4132 and change to 4141 to be more defensive.

I did pretty much the same thing (4141 Away, 442 Home) with also using the 4141 against the stronger teams for the most part.

 

Had no money so I couldn't bring anyone in, didn't really sell anyone.  Porto crushed me 5 (!!!!) times (2 in league, 3 in cup) like 3-2 or 4-2 each time.  Still a successful season.  Lots of turnover for nobody good coming in.  We're still poor.
