Personally love to see a referee at this tournament with the common sense to card players for such challenges. In this ridiculously lenient tournament, it's unfortunate for them to be the on the end of actual refereeing though.

Golaso from Xhaka.

Celebrating with Albanian eagle sign.

He is really playing for the wrong national team.

Nah. Just like Shaqiri he had played for the Swiss for quite some time before he got the possibility to play for Kosovo. Fairly sure both had picked Kosovo if that had been an option when they broke through.

No, they wouldn't.

They would have picked Kosovo if it was a better NT, though.

Same goes for Ozil, Gundogan, etc. They'd play for Turkey if Turkey was a better team.

Rakitić picked Croatia because it's the better team. Gavranović could never break through.

The only guy who didn't pick the best team was Zlatan.

Doesn't fifa hand out bans/fines to players who make political points during matches? I didn't see this 'Albanian eagle' hand gesture but would that not count as one? Brilliant match anyway.

It is interesting though that the Swiss strikers are Bosniak (Seferovic), Bosnian Croat (Gavranovic) and Croat (Drmic) so all three would upset the Serbian team in some way.

Lichtsteiner.

Yeah, he's used to making those moves and not getting punished.

Too bad for Arsenal fans, because he'll certainly give away a few penalties.

Pretty sure that he, technically, never have qualified for any other team than Sweden. Also pretty sure that if the Croatian NT would have wanted him they would have sorted the needed passport quick enough.

Yes he qualified for both Croatia and Bosnia.

His mother is Croatian and his father is Bosnian. Both immigrants born in their respective countries.

He turned both FAs down and said that he feels Swedish because they gave him everything.

Yeah I had to point out to someone elsewhere the difference between identifying with your ethnicity and with nationality. Xhaka is ethnically Kosovar-Albanian and obviously supports their cause, but probably still feels more Swiss himself.
