Ellandroadhero
5-0 on aggregate and a famous night at the Nou Camp for the Leeds fans! I'm not sure what's happened to Barca but they were absolute cack. Brighton caused us much more trouble in the quarters. We face Inter in the final... kingjericho
(Still) regarding your transfers, I think youdid well and managed to get improvements in the guys that came in. Bueno and Keane are good of course, but especially Bueno seems to be a good all-round mid and not an excellent playmaker. Do you look mainly for playmaking attributes, or also to players that have physical stats to support a 2-man midfield? Tymon seems a great deal, he's young, English, and has all the good attributes for a FB. The young GK is also a great addition, he could become one of the best in the league in 4/5 years if you promote him to a starting spot. Regarding the league and EL, the season seems to be going really well. I understand how difficult it is to win the league (in an old save I managed to win the CL before ever winning the league ) and if you win the EL it will be huge. Ellandroadhero
22-23 Season Review: The aim this season was Champions League qualification and we've managed it twice! Once by virtue of league position, finishing in the top four for the first time since the O'Leary days, although 3rd place was in our hands with two games to go, but unfortunately our run of 9 wins on the bounce came to an end as we threw away a lead against Brighton to lose and then were unable to beat bottom of the table Watford on the last day of the season. Secondly though and a lot more importantly as it brought a trophy with it, we win our second cup competition in 2 seasons as we lift the Europa League by coming from behind in the second half to defeat Inter! Quesada's winner in the 89th minute was a thing of beauty and means that whilst our long term aim is to go deep into the Champions League, we have now clearly eclipsed O'leary's Leeds in the sense that we have two trophies under our belts. As you can see here, Camarinho, our January signing from last season and replacement to Alioski is the true heir to Harry Kewell and had a sensational season on the left wing, contributing double figures in both goals and assists. Meanwhile, Quesada stepped up as the goal scorer I knew he could be, with 25 goals in all competitions. On a personal note, I take home manager of the year for the second consecutive season: More importantly though, I'm now considered a Leeds United icon and am on the way to establishing a new glory era for Leeds United! I've so far only been given 44m to play with in the summer, but I'm not entirely sure how I want to use it just yet as I'm very happy with the squad. I'm caught between a top quality central midfielder, or a right back. Either way, I don't anticipate bringing in a lot of new faces without several going out as I won't be able to get the quality I need without unbalancing the side. All in all, an amazing season! Good points re last season’s signings. Bruno is a bit more well rounded than Xhiro as a playmaker, but I do need him to be able to do a bit of everything in a two man midfield as you say. His passing and vision is increasing as well so I think he will develop well into that role. 2 hours ago, berrers said: Enjoyable read, League title next season i reckon Thanks! I’m not sure yet. Ellandroadhero
Pre Season 23-24: We lost a game in pre-season for the first time in a few seasons! The Super Cup loss to Manchester United was disappointing, especially as Cutrone missed another penalty in a big game. I'm not sure I'll have him take another penalty for us for a while! Transfers: Just the two in as we bring in a major upgrade at right back, who also still has room to develop and in my eyes a future world class centre back. Gomez doesn't look as good here as all his attributes are dropping, but I'm sure when the season gets going and he's playing regularly, he'll develop nicely. McKirdy I'm very excited about - he will be on an intense regime to improve his jumping, but apart from that I think he's going to be amazing for the long term future at Leeds. Also the fact that he's from Scotland was tempting as Leeds biggest legends, Billy Bremner, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer are from Scotland. I'll be giving him decent game time this year in the hope that he develops quickly into a starter. Major movings out were Ronaldo Vieira, Trippier and Hugill, who sadly I released as he dropped off last season, but he'll always be a cult hero for this save. I was also sad to see Vieira go, but he was 3rd choice and I'd rather use the academy for that! A big season ahead, we're aiming for the Champions League qualification again and we want to go deep in that competition. It would be nice to have an FA cup run as well as we've been poor in that competition.
Ellandroadhero
First game back in the Champions League, a over two decades since our appearance in the semi final against Valencia and we gave a great account of ourselves against Atleti and probably should have won. Griezmann scored from nothing to peg us back after we took the lead and then we got Keane sent off, but still didn't look like losing. Unfortunately we also have Milan in our group, so it won't be an easy one to qualify!
Ellandroadhero
I'm starting to really hate West Ham. Again, 3rd in the league and we go to them and get thrashed.
noikeee
I started reading this a while ago and never reached the end, now I did. Really fun career you've got going on here with Leeds, as everyone said the ties to the 90s/00s team make this interesting, and it feels like you're now on the brink of something great. Of course, winning the League Cup and the Europa League were already two big achievements for the club, but I think there's more to come.

We're competing well in the Prem this season, so I'm quietly hopeful that we will win that some time soon. As for the Champions League, we've got a tough group but I think we're gonna qualify from it, but it's a big step up for us so we'll see how we go there. I must say, I'm getting itchy feet for a journeyman career, but I've taken this save a long way and I want to see it through to one of those titles before I move on... Ellandroadhero
Get in there. One of the highlights of this save has been beating Man United a good few times. We should have won this by more to be honest, Quesada destroyed them and could have had 2 hat-tricks and once again Cutrone missed a pen. He wasn't even first choice penalty taker, but all the other takers were off the pitch. Quesada would take them, but he has 10 penalty taking. I'm gonna train him in that and give them to him as he is a pure finisher. Also, I just picked up this guy as a free agent and he made his debut against Man United: Unbelievable eh!? Signed for free and instantly worth 49.5m! I'm stacked in the advanced playmaker position already, but I just had to get him when I saw he was available. kingjericho
One question regarding your tactics: do you feel the new setup really works better? I had a go with both your tactics and found the first version being much more solid in defense, and decent enough in attack.

I loved that first tactic as an underdog and in fact have gone back to using elements of it in the champions league such as get stuck in being back on to raise our intensity. I also have reverted to a BWM when I’ve needed to be more aggressive in midfield. On the whole though I have found my new tactic stronger since my reputation increased and caused teams to defend deeper against me. The AP instead of DLP gives us a lot more drive going forwards.
