Sod it for no apparant reason, let's do an OTF United Fans all time* XI.

based on 442. No 4-5-1, men in holes, 3 at the back rubbish. When I can be arsed I'll add up the totals and that.

3 match ban for a cowardly but potentially deadly assault = 3 match ban for girly shove = getting away with it.

He has to respond by tonight. If he wants a hearing, it's on thursday. So unless a hearing overturns the charge, he'll miss the United game either way.

Very tempted to include ghifb but it's a bit too soon for him & Ronaldo. Kanchelskis was really close but Beckham was excellent (when he was) for longer so squeaks in.

So it's a Man United "football started in 1992" XI then icon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gif

Schmeichel

G Nev McGrath Stam Irwin

Beckham Keane Robson Giggs

Cantona

Ruud

I've assumed that the cut off is players who played for Fergie, and then thought of those players at their peak regardless of whether that peak was before Fergie arrived. So Strachan was close as well, but that might just be bias on how much i liked him rather than how good he was, and Whiteside nearly squeaked in.

Where there's more than one player looking close, i've taken how long their peak was as well. So Kanchelskis might have made it, but he was only fantastic for us for about 18 months. Ferdinand missed the cut for the same reason.

I would have loved to have included The King Scholes, Cole and Schmeichel but i only have 11 places available.Think my team would be a challenge for everybody especially on the left with Giggsy and Sharpey bombing down the wing. Would have liked to include Jesper Olsen as he was one of the first wide men i ever saw in real life at a game but he was a bit rubbish. I have fond memories of him though.

Scholes shot up to 8 goals so quickly it's quite suprising to see he has that many atm icon14.gif It wasn't long ago the media was saying he was in a Beckham/Butt/Keane/G. Neville (Inexplicably) etc... style decline with his goal draught.

Also impressed with Rooney's 9 goals and 6 assists, that's quite productive even though he hasn't been at his best for much of the season icon14.gif

According to this 'twas Scholes who assisted for Giggs' equaliser vs Dinamo:

quote:
Dinamo lost possession on the halfway line, Scholes played the ball through first-time and Giggs raced full pelt towards goal, swerved around Gaev and finished with admirable coolness.
