He looks like a decent depth FB.

He might become a starting CM for us in the future? I'm not that hopeful, but we are really lacking talent there. It's another poor intake, in truth.

I'm back, so you better pretend you all missed me

The holiday was great, only problem is I fell in love with Zagreb, which makes hating Dinamo a bit harder - but that doesn't mean I won't still do it :D

It's a bit of a late reply, but I have the San Marino league loaded, with the Italian league down to Serie C as well.

Now, lets get back to business. I've just re-read the whole thread to remind myself of how things are going, but it might take me a while to get used to my squad again :D

Great to have you back! And isn't Zagreb lovely? Went there about 9 months ago, such a great city. In fact, Croatia in general is just magnificent. Love it :)

Thank you :D

Zagreb is absolutely beautiful. I was really surprised at how nice it actually was, I wasn't expecting it at all. Didn't get a chance to go anywhere else in Croatia, but I heard that in summer the beaches/coast is unbelievable, so in the future I might see for myself :D

Season Review

Campionato Sammarinese:

Table

Schedule

A good season to come back to.

Coppa Titano:

Table

Schedule

A perfect campaign.

Squad

Key Players:

Highest Average Rating:

Nicola Berardi (YP64) - 8.15

31 assists is a new club record, and one that probably won't be beaten for a very long time.

Top Goalscorer:

Federico Baratta (YP69) - 32

He still hasn't worked out where he likes shooting from (what do those PPMs even mean...) but he knows where the goal is.

Manager's Player of the Year:

Marco Podeschi (YP58)

I love our striking duo, although he's very, very injury prone.

Aims for next season:

Retain the league.

Other teams:

League Winners: :D

Cup Winners: :D

How the team in CL qualifying did: We lost to Salzburg in the Third Round.

How the teams in Europa qualifying did: We lost to Sturm Graz in the Playoff. Cosmos lost 7-0 to Hearts, Tre Fiori lost 3-0 to Hapoel Tel-Aviv and La Florita lost 6-0 to Jagiellonia.

San Marino National team:

2041 Results -- 2042 Results

That's a superb qualifying campaign. I've been wondering - if I applied for the job, then resigned before the 8 years were up and they fired me, and then applied again at some point later, would that be a (mediocre) way to get round the bug?

This is exactly the kind of game I envisioned us needing when I started this save, because we've nicked this one through opposition mistakes. We took the lead early in the second half when their backpass was careless, and Podeschi was able to nip in before the keeper got there to fire into an empty net. They equalised but the rest of their shots were pretty tame, and in the 87th minute their CB turned a cross into his own net to give us a huge 2-1 win away. I still don't think we'll do it, because if they finished their chances they'd have had 5 or 6 this game, but we've put ourselves in an excellent position.

Lets make it simpler, any team that beats San Giovanni goes into the "Hate" list :D

This list might become quite big... :D

We did pretty well against Hadjuk, but Feyenoord and BMG were in a completely different league to us.

I like his potential, but he's really small for a keeper and his starting stats are pretty diabolical.

Now this is someone I can get behind a bit more. A CM with some excellent physicals, he's in line for a starting spot next season to replace Daniel Sanchez (YP46).

EDIT: I gave Zafferani the wrong tag by mistake (also called him YP74 originally). I've fixed that now, but that's the reason this picture is from a couple of days later.

We weren't unbeaten, but this was comfortable enough.

Yay.

Key Players:

Highest Average Rating:
Marco Simoncini (YP73) - 7.75

Injuries to our CMs thrust Simoncini into the fold, and he made sure he wasn't going anywhere. Superb stuff, and the exposure to first team football ahs really helped his development.

Top Goalscorer:
Marco Podeschi (YP58) - 33

Because of injuries, he was the only one of our players to even make it to double digits.

No manager's player of the year. No-one stood out at all.

Aims for next season:

Retain the league.

Other teams:

League Winners: :D

Cup Winners: :D

How the team in CL qualifying did: We lost to Basel in the Third Round.

How the teams in Europa qualifying did: We got 0 points in the group. Juvenes Dogana lost 4-0 to Inverness, Domagnano lost 2-0 to Vaduz from Lichtenstein and Faetano lost on penalties to HB from the Faroe Islands. So close, but so far :(

That was a hard Nations League group, in fairness.

Damnit. He thought he was too good for us and he's left on a free. He was good (my assistant rated him the best player at the club) but I really don't think he was that good, and I think he may struggle to find another team.

Fiorentino came in with a big bid for our backup LM, and I decided to let him walk. 47k is hardly going to be important for us, but as he'd be one of their best players, I figured that it was a decent way of improving the other teams to help them in Europe for now.

Umm... that wasn't in the script. Marco Podeschi (YP58) scored an absolute screamer from 30 yards, and it was only a late goal that spared Celtic's blushes. We'll still get destroyed away, but check out Podeschi's goal!

We were superb, but I know we aren't going to beat them away. As good as draws with Celtic and PSV are (and they're absolutely fantastic) I'd rather play them away first, so I don't get excited only to get destroyed a week later. Can we hold them to less than 8?

:(

3-1 is absolutely superb against PSV. But we could have won. We had three or four real chances when the game was still 0-0 or 1-0 to them, but we took none of them. They showed us how to finish, and our goal late on was no more than a bitter consolation.
