PaulHartman71
I was pretty surprised to finally get the Xanthi job really. It started off like any other summer for the most part - Real Madrid sacked their manager and for what must surely be about the 20th time I was offered the job and turned it down. What happened next was where things got interesting. Amir Natkho landed the Real Madrid job, leaving Aston Villa in the process. Aston Villa decided to take a punt on a bright young manager who has been dominating in Greece for the last few years... I didn't notice that Tantaros had played in England for most of his career and so perhaps that made him a tempting option for English clubs. I wasn't hanging around to ask questions though. I resigned immediately and applied for the job. And so ends my glorious reign at Wolfsburg. It was a great time, full of great players as well as some memorable games and trophy wins. I was glad to see this come through after I won the German Cup... But it is now time to claim the Greek Super League and knock off 'X' from my list... PaulHartman71
Summer Transfers A few big money departures, with Borja Hernandez, a DM, and Giorgos Mylonas, a CM, both left the club for £8M. A striker, Thales, also left, with his fee being £6M. This transfer window can kind of be summed up by the phrase "throw everything at the wall and hope that some of it sticks". We spent £5M on Toma Zivkov, who is the striker we will be resting our hopes on this season. Noah Thomas is a promising experienced defender, with Di Girolamo and Raffael Ott, both younger defenders but still adequate ones. Rene Engels is a decent German right winger, with the other highlight of this transfer window being a young Brazilian left winger, aptly named 'Zidane'. I think ultimately this team has won the league for the last 3 seasons in a row - so in theory it shouldn't need that much strengthening anyway. Fingers crossed we have a comfortable campaign
PaulHartman71
August Not the most promising of starts really. We struggled against my old rivals from the Olympiakos days, with Leduc's late goal stealing it for us really. We struggled against a poor Panaitolikos team too and could only get a draw with them. I was curious to see what happened to Panthrakikos, as they were the dominant team in Greece when I last managed here at Olympiakos, which is around 25 years ago now. Anyway it turns out they've not had too good a time in the last few years... They've got relegated from the 2nd tier now and are no longer even a playable team in my save
PaulHartman71
Season 46: (W)olfsburg We obviously messed up in the Bundesliga and missed out on winning the title yet again, but ultimately I think it's hard to call any season where you win the Champions League a failure. A German Cup as well was a nice bonus on top of that and a pretty reasonable way to go out at Wolfsburg for me. Squad part 1, pt 2 GK - Miguel Garcia wasn't as good as he has been in previous years, but he was still pretty good by most GK's standards. DR - Marc Yannick Broker won his starting spot back once again this season, you have to credit him for his determination and resilience. DL - Ahmet Guler did very well on the left again, although he did miss about 7 games through fitness issues which is very unlike him. DC - Sam Lawrence and Sergio Checa formed a strong partnership, possibly the best one I've had at Wolfsburg. Sergio Checa made the World Team of the Year. DM - Jannik Kempe actually managed to display Julian Clement for starting DM this season, with the 24 year old putting in some very impressive performances in all competitions. MC - Vincenzo Vardel had a brilliant season at CM once again. AMR - Wolf Bruneel did fantastic once again, with 19 goals and 19 assists. He also made the World Team of the Year once again. AML - Maurice Gutzeit had the season of his life, with 23 goals and 23 assists he ended up making the World Team of the Year too this year. CAM - Ruud Kant was one of few ever presents this season, with the Dutchman having a great season getting 17 goals and 25 assists at CAM. ST - Ivan Talajic had his best year yet, with 58 goals and 22 assists in 53 games. He also won the World Player of the Year once again, meaning a Wolfsburg player has now won it 3 years in a row History ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Season Club Division Position Achievements ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2014/15 Arsenal Premier League 2nd League Cup winners 2015/16 Arsenal Premier League 1st Premier League winners ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2016/17 Borussia Dortmund Bundesliga 3rd German Cup & Europa League winners 2017/18 Borussia Dortmund Bundesliga 2nd Euro Super Cup & German Super Cup winners ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2017 Cameroon N/A N/A Confederations Cup runners up 2018 Cameroon N/A N/A N/A 2019 Cameroon N/A N/A African Cup of Nations winners ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2018/19 Dinamo Moscow Russian PL 2nd Russian Cup winners ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2019/20 Everton Premier League 2nd N/A 2020/21 Everton Premier League 7th League Cup winners & Champions League runners up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2020 France N/A N/A N/A 2021 France N/A N/A European Nations League winner 2022 France N/A N/A World Cup winner ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2021/22 Getafe La Liga 5th Qualified for Europa League 2022/23 Getafe La Liga 9th Europa League semi finalists ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2022 Holland N/A N/A N/A 2023 Holland N/A N/A N/A 2024 Holland N/A N/A European Championship runners up ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2023/24 Ipswich Town Championship 1st Promoted as Champions 2024/25 Ipswich Town Premier League 13th N/A 2025/26 Ipswich Town Premier League 4th N/A 2026/27 Ipswich Town Premier League 4th N/A 2027/28 Ipswich Town Premier League 1st Premier League & FA Cup winners ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2028/29 Juventus Serie A 1st Serie A, Italian Cup & Super Cup winners 2029/30 Juventus Serie A 1st Serie A, Champions League, Italian Cup & Super Cup winners ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2030/31 Kuban Russian PL 6th Qualified for Europa League 2031/32 Kuban Russian PL 7th Left in November ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2031/32 Liverpool Premier League 6th Joined in November. PaulHartman71
September A nice 3-1 win in the Greek Cup to beat Kerkyra. A bizarre start in the Champions League. We beat Barcelona 2-1 in our first game which was hugely unexpected and despite our opening goal coming from a penalty, we did genuinely deserve to win it. After having a slow start in the Super League I couldn't believe we were playing almost as well as my far superior Wolfsburg side did against them in the Final just 4 months back at Wembley It went downhill 2 weeks later though as we lost 3-0 in Turkey, which I'm sure was absolutely devastating to our travelling away fans. It really is a pretty bum group though for us, with all 3 sides posing a big threat to us. Tbh if you'd given me the choice to swap the Barcelona win with one against Galatasaray I would probably take it as I think that would've helped us out in at least making it through to the Europa League. It's gonna be a really tricky group and I'm not looking forward to our double header with Monaco, although they have only picked up 1 point so far themselves. 2 good victories this month away in Tripolis, as well as a big win against my old side Olympiakos. We did struggle at PAOK though, with Zivkov's 78th minute equaliser bailing us out of trouble. A very strong start from Panathinaikos, with Olympiakos also on more points than us so far despite losing to us.
sherwinriga
RIP Panthrakikos. Who is the current manager at the time after the relegation? PaulHartman71
October A poor loss to Monaco in France. We're down to bottom A pretty satisfying month apart from the points dropped at Ergotelis. The win over Panathinaikos was particularly pleasing. We're still 3 points behind them though
PaulHartman71
November A disappointing couple of losses which sees us eliminated from the Champions League We won't even make the Europa League either which is a shame. The best we can hope for is to beat Galatasaray in the final game to at least get some pride back and possibly prevent them from making it through. A pretty poor month which saw us drop 5 points, including a bad loss at Panaigaleios. We've fallen 5 points behind /o\
PaulHartman71
December A very comfortable win in the Greek Cup. A fantastic win in the Champions League against Galatasaray. I'm sure seeing their team beat a Turkish side will soften the blow slightly of going out for the fans. They'll be even more pleased that this win prevented Galatasaray from moving onto the next round of the Champions League. 4 wins out of 4 in the Super League this month, but we very nearly could've dropped points in 3 of the games. Zidane's 80th minute goal gave us the winner at Episkopi, whilst a very late winner from Yassin Messauoudi gave us all 3 points at home to AEK Athens. This solid run of wins has taken us to top spot, albeit by a very slim margin on goal difference.
PaulHartman71
January A horrendous first leg result away in Athens, which I really didn't think we could come back from. I thought wrong. We smashed them 5-0 in the home leg to overturn the deficit and make it through! A fantastic set of results in the league this month, with only one slip up, away at Olympiakos. We did get very lucky away to Kerkyra, as we only won through a last gasp goal from substitute, Juan Martin Batistuta. We do now have a 7 point gap though
PaulHartman71
February A comprehensive 3-0 victory in the first leg. We should progress to the Semi Final without too much of an issue. Not the best month as we slip up twice, but the main thing in the Panathinaikos game at least was avoided a defeat. They didn't gain any points on us by drawing with us which is the main thing. There's actually only 5 games left to play and we have a 10 point lead - so it's looking pretty good to be honest.

PaulHartman71
April Ermionida certainly made a game of the 2nd leg, but we still managed to get a win on the night, with Zidane getting a late winner after Calderon equalised. 3 wins out of 3 this month, with none of our opponents really testing us that much. 2 games to go and we're 14 points clear. I think that means we won guys

If we got a slightly easier group we could definitely at least make it through to the Europa League and possibly go on a decent run, but in a year like this year where we get two monsters and another decent side like Galatasaray, it's quite hard to make an impact. PaulHartman71
April A disappointing end to our Greek Cup hopes as we end up knocked out on penalties by Platanias.
