Yes! A new CB. Maybe if LvG had got his ass in gear and did this he wouldn't have been sacked. Is it too greedy to hope for another CB or is that overkill?

Would have liked a ready made experienced centre back but always happy with a new signing.

22 year old international with experience in La Liga, Europa League, are there any realistic potential signings who have more experience?

Jose doesn't half like signing physical, young, French speaking defenders. Varane, Zouma, and now Bailly.

Good to see the club addressing the clear problem areas too. Just need Zlatan and a playmaking central midfielder. Possibly a right winger too, but I'd rather give Depay a chance there as he's not getting in ahead of Martial on the left and he's too good to be backup.

don't know, but someone who has played more than 50 first team games and who isn't referred to as raw talent.

That and the fact he's not signing till after the 30th, as by doing so he will fulfil the terms of his PSG contract and get a hefty bonus

Seen a lot of chat on this - how is this any different to any other Bosman-esque free transfer. Surely none of them are officially completed until after the existing contract is up? Unless there's a lot of ******* about with pre-contracts, and the clause relates to that? Seems a touch pernickety though.

I'd like another either a young ball player or a more experienced CB. I'd be interested to see if a Godin/Chiellini/Bonucci type player could be tempted to chance their arm in the Prem. Stylistically Bailley sounds similarly front-foot to Smalling, so it'd make sense to sign a partner for him.

Chatter from Germany is we're going to trying for Mkhitaryan (however you spell it). Whilst I have no idea if it's true, I'm just glad it appears Woodward has been reigned in from trying to get the unattainable Bale, Ramos and Neymars of this world (but I guess there is always Pogba...)

Would surely spell the end of any silly Pogba chase. Juve have long had him down as a target, especially if Pogba were to leave. The fact that they are going after Pjanic, sounds like they are bracing for bids from someone after Pogba anyway. Lots of these moves are going to be interlinked

There's no way Madrid won't be in for Pogba, especially with Zidane. We should stay well clear as we wouldn't have a chance.

A move that would see Kroos on his way out, and on the market

Disagree about avoiding him though, if they are going in then force their hand early, get it resolved early one way or the other, or even then go after Kroos as the alternative

Carrick ❤️.

I think he's past it and shouldn't be starting for us but great to have him around the squad and to play the odd game/come on and see a game out.

Yeah, very happy Carrick is staying. Clearly on the way down, sadly, but it isn't like he's gone to **** or anything and will still be a valuable player to have around.

Exactly what everyone else said about Carrick. Yes he is in decline, but managed correctly he can still have some influence on the season. There will be Europa and cup games where we may see a younger side, so his experience will be crucial, not to mention the influence he can offer away from the pitch.

Hmmm, yeah this isn't good if there's any truth to it all. Hopefully it's just a case of someone trying to make some money by picking a well known footballer to accuse.

Not sure that being able to win international youth tournaments is any kind of benchmark of a good coach at preparing young players for being a senior professional.

I believe he's only coming in a consultant capacity. Think it has more to do with restructuring the academy program than actual coaching.

Can we not go down this route of putting this theory out there, in the same way we shouldn't judge De Gea as guilty before he's done it? People did the same thing to the girl in the Adam Johnson case and it's really poor treatment of women to defend someone's favourite footballer (not saying your doing this, but by putting the theory out there, people will)

From what I've read, she's not gone to Hello magazine with an "exclusive story" for them...it's come out as part of testimony in a different case (again, if I've read it correctly) so I don't think there's any reason to even suggest it as an option unless it's proven otherwise that it is her motives.

Well, yeah, let me just say I am definitely and clearly not doing this. I simply said hopefully it is one of those instances because it has definitely been done before, and I have no clue at all about what case it relates to because at the time of my post the only info I had was what was posted, ie a thread with one link to a spanish website saying de Gea had been sent home and that was it. So that's all I was saying, that I hope it is one of those instances. Now I see it is linked to some ongoing case involving a Porn Baron or whatever he is, I still don't really know what the case is all about tbf.

George Dorrington, Nick Powell, Oliver Rathbone and Victor Valdes have been released by #mufc. We wish them all the best for the future.

Shame for Nick Powell, the injuries really set him back. I'm sure another club will snap him up and hopefully he can have a good career.

De Gea: "it is all a lie"

De Gea: "I feel even stronger about staying with the national team... it is all false and it is in my lawyers hands"

De Gea: "I never thought about leaving. It gives me more strength to train even harder"

De Gea: "I am a quiet guy and it is difficult that something affects me. And when something is false more reasons not to be affected"

De Gea: "I was playing the Play in the room when I was told about it"

De Gea: "I know what I have done with my life. It is all false"

Please be the truth.

Hopefully he'll still have a good career, working his way back to the PL. Think the talent is there. Like with Keane, injuries have done him in.

So, with what Dion posted in the other thread, it seems there is at least some possibility that what I said I hoped would be the case, is the case, and the woman has thrown out false accusations, considering the police said they looked in to it and found absolutely nothing to the claims.

Hopefully that's it done.

Obviously Kante has had a great season with Leicester, but after watching the France game last night where he was just absolutely brilliant, does anyone else think he would be a great signing for us? Pogba was really poor last night; did a few good things but in the main looked like he was trying to hard to do showy stuff that didn't come off. Obviously not seen as much of him as I have Kante but can't help thinking Kante would be a good signing. Though I guess it couldn't hurt to sign both...
